"Song a Week" Project -- Existence
I've had some people asking me about the music project that I'm working on, so I want to give an explanation.
Recently, some friends of mine were talking about Tchaikovski, and about how he was pretty much tormented by the "Russian 5" for most of his life over his suspected homosexuality.  Later in his life, he wrote a letter to his patroness (a wealthy woman who funded his musical endeavors) than was very critical of each of them. But something he wrote, specifically of Borodin, struck a chord with me, "Borodin a man who "has talent, even a strong one, but it has perished through neglect..."
For a most of my musical life, I've let a lot of my talents just simmer on the back burner and left neglected.  I was somewhat disparaged by that and decided that it was the fire I need to stir me out of my complacency
Taking some inspiration from one of my musical heroes Jonathan Coulton, I decided that I was going to do a "Song-a-week" project, like he had done several years ago.
One short song a week for ten weeks. After the ten weeks was over, I would go back and extend each of the songs for an album.  Whatever style the first song ended up being in, that would set the tone for the rest of the album.
So off I set and I'm now 4 songs in--holy cow.

Started to work on getting back to writing music regularly again. I set down the task for myself of writing a short piece every week for the next 10 weeks. This is the first in that set.

A re-orchestration of the ending theme from Chrono Trigger's "To Far Away Times" by Yasunori Mitsuda and published by Square Enix. It took me a year to and moving cross-country to finish remastering this. But this is the final version I will make -- it's still got some rough spots, but I'm pleased with how it came out.
Merry Christmas everyone

Flourintine Rice
Tumblr media
This is an easy and delicious side dish you can prepare for light summer meals. It pairs well with poultry and fish or is delicious as a meal all unto itself. Makes ~6 Servings. Ingredients:
2 cups Fresh or Frozen Chopped Spinach 2 cups uncooked White Rice (or substitute Brown Rice) 2 tbsp. Unsalted Butter 1 tsp. Lemon Juice ½ tbsp. Lemon Zest ¼ cup Water (If using Fresh Spinach) 1 tsp. Sea Salt Dash of Pepper Rinse the rice and then prepare as normal (there are a million other places on the internet that treat on how to prepare rice). In a large sauce pan on medium-low heat, add the butter and allow it to melt. Using a wooden spoon, add the spinach to the sauce pan and coat with the butter evenly by continually moving the spinach around, then add just enough water to coat the bottom of the pan. Continue moving the spinach around until all the water evaporates. If you're using frozen spinach, be sure you add the spinach while still frozen and then allow time for it to thaw and self steam. After about 5 minutes, when the spinach begins to stick a little to pan (remember keep it moving) , add the lemon juice, zest, and salt and mix well by continue to keep the spinach moving in the pan.  The spinach will be done once all the liquid has been absorbed. Remove from heat and transfer to a large bowl.
Add the rice and then mix well until the rice and spinach are distributed evenly throughout the mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve. Eat.

A mellow, new-agey, easy listening arrangement of some music from Chrono Cross, I did in 2003. This was originally posted on OCRemix.com many years ago in a lower bit-depth (only 128kbps). I'm now reposting it here with it's original higher quality (192 kbps) version.
Original Song is Copyright (c) 2001 SquareEnix. Recording and Arrangement are copyright me.

Opening Splash Intro Music for <insert whatever game studio/motion picture group here>.  This really should remind you of things like the movie intro for Paramount and the like.
