“I assume you’d like me to introduce myself?” Marvin questioned, as the robot let go of his hand. A barely legible voice box isn’t much to go off of, really being just limited to their body language. “Well… My name is Marvin.” He jumped a bit at the ‘zzt’, but it wasn’t anything too horrifying.

“Yes, that’s my phone… Or, it was my phone.” Yeah he was a bit bummed that his phone was reduced to broken parts, but Clamburg’s not too crowded an area, and he never really did pay for any long-distance calls.

Wall-E tilted their head. Introduce? Oh- were they supposed to introduce themselves? Wall-E flinched when Marvin jumped, being just slightly afraid that the other would suddenly whack them, as was the case when they tried to look around for strange artifacts.

The pointed to themself.

“W-...Wall-Eeeee!” They hoped that sufficed. They glanced back to the broken remains of what they’d run over, only to immediately go back to it and pick up what the biggest piece was, and return with it. “.... Ffffffo-e?” They held up the shattered remains of the phone. “-ar’in?” It was a terrible attempt at the name, but an attempt nonetheless.

Was the robot really just friendly? Was Marvin worrying too much? Evidently, he decided to bite the bullet. He closed his eyes, and clenched in fear as he allowed their servos to grasp his fragile mitten hand.

After enough time had passed for him to realize he wasn’t in any true danger, he opened his eyes, and the fear he once had slowly dissipated… and an expression of relief came anew. He was still a bit skeptic, but those thoughts were mostly surrounded by a large pool of notion, that Marvin will be able to live and see another day.

Wall-E warbled a bit happily as the other began to open his eyes, a hopeful sign to the robot that he would no longer try to run away from Wall-E for the time being. They eventually let go of the stranger’s hand, unsure if he wanted to let go but thinking it might be wise not to prolong contact too terribly much.

“... Hhhh...hhhieee-zzt!” They tried again, beaming even as their voice box broke towards the end, resorting in something akin to the sound of a wire sparking. Wall-E waved a hand, before glancing back over themself towards the phone, shattered on the ground, and then back to the stranger. “.... Ttttt-in-g?”

Still hiding away from view, Marvin could hear the robot approaching closer, the sound of whirring tracks slowly approaching him. Yeah, he’s often the wimp when faced by a possible threat, but since he figured that he’s met his end, he might as well embrace it.

Coming out from where he was hiding, he stood up and, though still fearful, faced the robot head-on. Only to find it was rather simply just about his size, and actually appeared… nice. Marvin was still hesitant about interacting with it yet, and slowly approached it with caution.

Wall-E raised their servos, trying to appear as non-threatening as possible as the strange other started to approach. Their eyes shuttered, and they treaded just a little back as the other got closer, a curious hum escaping their frame.

“Hn-r?” They still kept both servos out, although one extended a little farther than the other- opening up, as if to invite the other to shake their hand. “Hhhhhiiiieeee?” Their camera-lense eyes tilted upward from the effort of trying to pronounce such a word. It scratched along their vocal system, a ragged reminder of just how bent-out of shape they’d been.
