im sorry the duffers would never have written: el and mikes breakup in s3 as comedic and then proceed to write mike and will’s supposed first real fight as dramatic as a breakup scene should have been and then have mike bike all the way across town to apologize in the pouring rain, if m1lev3n was meant to be endgame. they literally show us that (im sorry but it’s true) mike cares about will’s feelings and their relationship more than he cares about his and el’s. which is normal, and he shouldn’t be expected to care about everyone at the same level because that’s just not how humans work. mike has always cared about will the most out of everyone, that’s literally just canon. it’s why he always comes running back to him in some way shape or form.

Thinking about this line, in connection with @pinkeoni’s Oedipus theory, in connection with El refusing to show mercy to Brenner in the end… in connection with Mike always matching his outfits with his homophobic father, and with Will never having had closure with his homophobic father, even after having sought approval from him and never receiving it…

I’m thinking about this with the parallels to Leland and Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks (Leland being the father who killed his child [while possessed but still])…

This line really represents a huge theme of this show, and I think it’s imperative for Mike’s and Will’s character arcs that they follow El’s lead. They have all taken steps toward this separation, but they have not yet had that moment of the Oedipal “killing” of their father, the confrontation, the recognition that that man is just a man, who can’t be defined as a monster, nor hero. Who may have had a significant impact on their lives but does not need to hold sway anymore.

It is crucial they have this reckoning so that they can move on and become fully themselves. I can’t wait to see how this theme unfolds for them next season!

it's been long enough. the earthquakes scene at the beggining of s4ep7 with nance, robin, steve and eddie is he goofiest looking scene in the entire history of stranger things scenes.

Day 15 of WGA Strike

The strike is costing the studios approximately $30 million a day in lost output. Meaning in the 15 days the WGA has been on strike, they've lost an estimated $450 million dollars aka almost exactly the amount we're asking for in our contract for THREE YEARS. — Phillip Iscove on Twitter

As of today, the strike has been more expensive than just giving the writers what they’re asking for.

Although the WGA has not called for any boycotts yet, ie. canceling your Netflix subscription, there are some things you can still do to show your support.

Spread the word! Show support any way you can by sharing posts and articles about the strike, or even fun memes to inform others in a more engaging way.

headcanons first:

yes, i gave mike braces. that was a spontaneous decision but i think s3 mike with braces would've been great. the first one of the party to actually grow facial hair that needs shaving (not just peach fuzz) would be lucas. the one with the best beard when they're older is dustin. mike never manages more than the goatee and moustache area, he's very disgruntled about this. will is able to grow facial hair just fine but the party don't realise this for literally years because he hates not being clean shaven, and because he's got the classic white boy problem of his beard being slightly ginger rather than matching his hair properly. jonathan teaches will how to shave, he also teaches dustin at the same time

i have a lot of male friends lmfao, these are all based on them lol.

did I ever tell you I'm a fucking slut for mer aus. because I am. and I make several. for every fandom I enter. all mer aus are god tier. here's the start of one for you, with absolute Babs of byler (here's post 2)

okay so you can like. see what's going on but I'm gonna put descriptions anyway so I have an excuse to rant. it all gets started because MerMike is a shit swimmer and the ocean said YEET during a storm and left him knocked out cold in a tide pool, then he mostly dries out and is left with legs because of a longass biological process that I'm not gonna make you suffer through.

when morning comes the tiniest fuckin Will goes out to help clean up the beach/assess any storm damage/etc and finds Mike there and gets his incredible mom to help him because for once in my life a character I stan has a good relationship with a Living parent who trusts and believes them and I'm taking advantage of it.

Mike wakes up dry as fuck under a structure he's never seen before and his mcfuckin arm fins are gone and he's like wTFFFF and since my mers generally move more horizontally he doesn't sit up but tries to roll and gravity Fucks Him Up (to make things Even Better his "voice" is barely audible to human ears rn no one can hear him yelling into the fucking void.....Chester might not like it tho)

anyway Will hears the loud thud and is all !!! the mystery friend is awake! and instead of trying to be useful and help this distressed child back onto the bed he just. crouches really fuckin cutely to say hello and you can just Hear the ♡ in his voice (well Mike can't....he only hears A Threat.)

Mike's just like oh gOD OH FUCK A SPLIT-TAIL HUNTER CUt off my fins and stranded me here I'm gonna die is it gonna eat me alive it moves so fast what do I do shit fuck shit fuck—and decides since there's nothing even vaguely resembling a weapon within reach that the best option is to roll under the nearest thing and hope the small predator gets bored and leaves him alone.

tbh he probably has an even worse idea of what humans are like than the average mer because he Likes the stories that adult mers tell to keep the tiny ones away from the surface until they know how to navigate safely. most humans don't even think mers exist let alone actively hunt them down

he's gonna lose his entire mind when he sees Joyce and Jonathan. he's gonna lose even more of it when he finally untangles himself from the blanket (or just...sees the sharp knee bend instead of a soft tail curve) and realizes it's not just the fins that are gone
