Thanks for the adventures, Jim
A couple of days ago, we lost Jim Ward. He’s known for several things like the controversial but awesome Deities & Demigods for 1st ed AD&D, Metamorphosis Alpha and helping to keep TSR afloat even in its later years. Likewise, he brought more awesomeness to Castles & Crusades. We lost one of the original legends, so close to GaryCon too. Thanks for the adventures, Jim. Gary, Dave, Jennell and…

They Linger in the Mists
I can never resist treks through the mists.  It calls me back and I am seemingly drawn to it.  Maybe I’m just doomed, but so is everyone else.  One may as well take in the nice scenery. Author’s Note: I come up with ideas, or pull from old games, and thus write stuff.  It’s that simple.  Anyway, enjoy.  Also, while I enjoyed more evil schemes for Ivana… it just didn’t feel right.  I’m not fond of…

#TYGnD - Celebrating 50 Years of D&D
This morning, I stumbled upon a little hashtag dedicated to celebrating Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, the fathers of the roleplaying game world. It’s a shorthand for, simply put, Thank You Gary & Dave! From hobbies around Lake Geneva to early games of Braunstein, these roots would one day culminate into the epic fantasy adventure game we all know and love. While I’m a fair bit younger than the…

Peering Dreams from Mists
Deep into that darkness peeringlong I stood therewondering, fearing, doubting – The Raven, Edgar Allen Poe   Author’s Note: I honestly thank Gabriel from Hour of the Raven for giving me inspiration here. Otherwise, this probably wouldn’t have happened.  Likewise, I’m recycling ideas from pulled 5th Edition posts as well. Mists part... for now
My Mystara-Ravenloft crossover has concluded for now. I may return to convert more iconic monsters over to the BECMI version of the game (with Cab’s help of course.) However, I have some inspiration to visit the Demiplane of Dread once more, using old notes, new ideas and much more to cobble some fun experiments.

Threshold Magazine #33 Now Available!
I wasn’t available for Issue #32, but I have returned once more!  This time around, I’ve teamed up with Cab of The Piazza to unveil new creatures within Mystaran Domains of Dread and beyond.  The majority of these creations and conversions are for Basic D&D, but can be used in AD&D 2nd Edition with a little effort.  Likewise, some concepts from BECMI/Basic have been ported to AD&D such as the…

An Editor's Look at Clueless Lore - The Cosmos and The Cage
For you, dear reader, I have a compilation of notes and records detailing strange things around the prime and the planes.  While much of it deals with Clueless Lore, I figure this would be a fascinating way to observe ignorance and arrogance around reality… to say nothing of righteous planar Sigil mentality! Author’s Note: Two posts in two weeks!  ABSOLUTE MADNESS, I know.   And yes, part of this…

Ramon's Guide to the Spelljammer Ward
More on The Spelljammer Ward?  But of course.  A brief primer that goes into more depth is surely needed, as only snippets have been touched on.  Yes, there is the Docker’s Catch club that tethers this realm to the Prime and to Sigil, but there’s so much more.  Having a membership certainly helps, especially with traversing this bloated burg turning city.  Measured by each side, it ain’t that…

Ramon's Extended Look for Planar Locales
A step out of retirement? Why yes! But, for what reason? Well, some mysterious Editor seems to goad and challenge me. Likewise, some Narrator seems to think lesser of me. So, I shall show them and regain any lost honor! Please, follow me on this journey. There are incredible places across the planes that neither of them have unveiled. Author’s Note: Ramon is back?  What is this?  Yeah…  I dunno…

This Blog does not use the Fan Content Policy
In regards to D&D related content, I just want to put this out here. (Also, considering I’ve poked fun at WotC a lot.)

An Editor's Look at Clueless Lore - Shadows and Elements
What, you have expected me to do more?  I will comply this time.  It is because I love your presence, dear reader!  While the politicking, bickering and mischief of the fey is larger than most planars will ever realize; they are a piece in a larger puzzle.  The surface has been scratched on a theory of a Demiurge Cult, one that seeks to cloud visions of the planes with some corrupted new…

The Editor's Look at Clueless Lore - The Fae
An Editor’s job is never done. Not only do I ensure high quality of the tomes I oversee, I am willing to play Tout as well for the Clueless lead astray by false notions.  Let us begin with another look at the Sylvan kind… perhaps some context that a certain bard left out in his travels.  No issues, as I pay him no malice.  However, ignorance is not so easily corrected.  Let us hope that we can…

Threshold Magazine # 31 Now Available!
I have returned once again! This time, the look at Mystara in the Mists concludes from the perspective of an explorer from the Savage Coast. This includes deeper looks at most of the domains I’ve explored in the articles, save for Jaibul (due to its mercurial nature that would have been mostly redundant.) “A Mystaran Survey of The Mists” makes this series a trilogy (of terror), but there is a…

Strange Tales of Space Beyond
Oh, hey!  It’s another post! Author’s Note: May I be free of these shackles, free of D&D.  None the less, I had ideas while I was writing my previous bit…  So here you go!  One last look at Spelljammer, at least for a long time.  That new book still burns me out, especially having to explain the Flow instead of Astral Sea.  But, discard the meaninglessness in search of meaning…. or something like…

Whispers within the Mists
Dark times drag the people ever closer towards prophecy.  A new Dukkar arises, perhaps more than one!  Likewise, prophecies begin to fall into place once more.  Tensions boil as countless burn.  The Broken Cog slowly grinds to a halt, before revving feverishly into destruction.  The artists of a distant ally to Ghastria see their works turn on them.  More Shadows gather to make the impossible. …

Grievances and Fears in the Cage
Life in the Cage is a complicated matter.  Even the status quo is barely fathomable to outsiders.  And for those who live within it?  Somehow, it all makes sense.  But, what does it mean in the end?  What of the factions, the arising guilds, equally escalating tensions, the general struggle?  Only time will tell.  Should the visions of the Cage’s seers be true, many of those elements in the dark…
