What a miserably cold day. Joseph had gone to the foyer where the main fireplace was for the manor. Surprisingly, it didn't seem anyone else was there. Perhaps the rest were busy. Or celebrating the cold outside.

There were two chairs by the fire, and quite the floor space. Joseph had picked one of the chairs. And there he sat for a time.

Until someone entered the room and hesitantly walked over. Joseph looked over his shoulder to see it was Aesop. Though the young man wore a suit, it looked thin. The poor man must be positively frigid. Given that, and Aesop's reclusive tendencies, Joseph expected the man to sit on the floor as close to the fire, and as far away from him, as possible.

But, to Joseph's faint surprise, Aesop took the other chair. And he didn't even move away from Joseph. He arched an eyebrow.

As polite and monotone as ever, "Monsieur Carl."

Joseph couldn't help smiling. As he raised his sword. "Well, this saves me time."

Joseph had gotten a tall glass of water from the kitchen, and had just started walking back to his room when he heard footsteps behind him. As they drew closer, he cursed himself for not simply teleporting back to his room when he had the chance. He'd pulled out a picture and started twirling it between his fingers.

Then he felt a tap. Joseph reluctantly paused and looked over his shoulder.

His eyes widened.

His glass shattered on the floor. The silver picture joined it with a loud clang.

He knew that face, there was no mistaking it. But it wasn't possible. For th first time in ages his voice was filled with emotion. Disbelief

💊: Have they ever dabbled in drugs? If so, what kinds?

He drinks tea, which does contain caffeine. Though he considers it just a drink to add sugar to.

Joseph used to drink a lot of alcohol. A lot. A year or two after Claude's death, when Joseph's sense of despair hadn't let up, he started drinking, and it got bad. He drank a lot during parties, and at the beginning of spring. And it got to the point he was going through bottles of wine and liquor every day.

He stopped in his mid twenties, weaning himself off of alcohol over the course of roughly a year. Joseph's memory of that part of his life is patchy, but he remembers that he got very addicted to alcohol, and that in the end he still felt very miserable.

It's why he avoids anything stronger than a standard wine, and sticks to just drinking at social celebrations.

Absolutely. Joseph very much has mercury poisoning, and will get tremors from it. It affects his thinking (it's partly why it's so impossible to reason with him about his work) and damaged his eyesight. And since he inhaled it, it really damaged his lungs and throat, which is why he breathes so damn loud and ragged. If it wasn't for his curse giving him photographic memory, Joseph would have horrendous memory.

And while he's very strong, Joseph's also older and made of porcelain. So he's prone to breaking things in matches from simply taking things way faster than his body can handle.

I'd also put his survivor's guilt under this category because, even if he no longer thinks he should be die, Joseph is still greatly motivated to do what he does because he's the one who lived. He wants to save others because everyone else died, and he's still alive. And that unresolved guilt leads to his breakdowns and delusions.

My Joseph hasn't fallen in love before, so he's never had a broken heart from romance. But he was broken up after his brother died, and his parents died. Maybe you could count those.

" Mister Desaulnier, is there something bothering you? There seems to be something on your mind?" A polite smile remained on Orpheus face as he asked. There was a motive behind his question, nothing the other needed to know, though.

Joseph had been adding sugar cubes to a cup of tea when he heard someone else approach. He turned to look only after the other spoke, and those black, half-opened eyes settled on Orpheus. One of the most annoying survivors to deal with, claiming he looked bothered.

Why did Orpheus think that? And why did he care?

As he added the last cube of sugar and picked up a spoon, "Monsieur Orpheus. Care to explain why you think something would be bothering me?" Granted, Joseph was never in a good mood.

Sometimes I think about how confused Joseph would be at the concept of asexuality, and even more so at learning he's asexual since he assumes he's some flavor of "normal" aka straight (despite the fact he has no libido, and at least one of his clients that he slept with was a man).

I feel like he'd take much longer to come to terms with being ace than he would with being gay or bi.

Joseph had been walking back to his room after breakfast when someone came running after. Given the pace and voice, he knew they would simply follow if he continued to his room. So he stopped, and sighed internally.

He turned and looked to Alice. His eyes flitted to the pen and paper, then to that small camera, and then back to her face.

He then lifted his sword, and used it to tap the top of her camera. "As long as you refrain from taking any pictures, you may ask a few questions. But you may not receive any answers, or answers that please you."
