After 2 years of trying to make this band take flight, it didn't happen. In that time though, we played some really rad shows, met some really talented people, made some awesome friends, and spent a lot of nights in Ft. Knox room 78 dreaming about our future.
It didn't happen like we wanted, but that's life. I want to thank Stephanie for being a really great friend and musician, and Johnny and Rob for being awesome even though we never played a show as four piece. I also want to thank anyone and everyone who has helped us, seen us, wrote us, or supported us.
If you're curious, the album will still be released. Once it happens I will be notifying you guys and most likely just releasing it digitally for donation. As for new music or bands, that will happen in time. I am continuing to play solo and practicing with a side project for now.
Thanks again for everything.
With Burritos and Pinwheels,
-Mike.
We have 20 copies of this Dead End Days coloring book that was made by the lovely and talented Lacie Turcott of Bootsyville Press. No lie, she asked me some stuff about our band and then asked me for my address. A few weeks later these showed up.
We have 20 of them, if you want one for free just message us on Facebook or email [email protected]
Premier issue of zine of a different color is finished! The bulk of the run were sent off to the band (Dead End Days) and I sold a couple via Etsy which was a happy surprise, so I held onto 2 copies in case anyone else wants one and can’t stop by a show. In case you’re one of those people, you can grab a copy for yourself here.
While not every issue is going to focus on bands, I had a lot of fun with this idea and am totally open to recommendations on bands to feature in the future. Like with this issue, I would send the bulk off to the band itself to give away or sell at their live shows with their other merch.
Here are two videos shot by a good friend that goes by the name of Jerry Cola. It's from the solo set I did at the ever so lovely 8AM performance space in Chicago. It's great little attic venue and on this evening I played with Lil Dave Merriman of the Arrivals and Jason Smith and Jon Olsen from Rad Payoff and Sass Dragons.
As usual, please share this if you dig it.

In other news, I finished two sessions for the album about a week ago, and it looks like we're playing our first show as a four piece at Township in August, should be a good time, more details TBA.
I am playing a solo show at Underground Lounge on June 29th with The New Lows as well. Here's the event link.
Yesterday we were lucky to be Music Garage's Band of The Day .
Music Garage is a hourly/monthly studio practice space, recording studio, repair shop, etc. in Chicago. They have been great to with setting up practices while we're looking for a new space in Chicago. We had a lot of fun shooting this video, hopefully have fun listening to it!
Mike did an interview for Quark Magazine's Strangely Charming segment. It discusses the upcoming album, the writing process, and other interesting musician tidbit type stuff! You can check it out here.
Also, please like Quark Magazine on Facebook, it's a rad magazine and covers a whole realm of topics, from culture to science to media and so on. They also make a weekly Spotify mixtape which is also awesome as well!
Mike's LIVE AT 8AM solo set is now available for free at our Bandcamp page

This week I will be releasing a small live EP of a show I did on 1/25/2013 at 8AM performance space in Chicago. It's run by Matt Arbogast of The Gunshy and on that evening I was lucky to play with some really awesome musicians.
The EP will not be the most glamorous set, but it's something I've been listening to and feeling good about. I know it has primarily new songs on it, some of which will be on the next album. I can't lie, I've been reluctant and weary of that. However, maybe it's time to give them some light, even if it's just some acoustic performances.
Anyway, I will be releasing this on our bandcamp for free at http://www.deadenddays.bandcamp.com
Here's a Track listing:
1. $2,000 Worth of Fireworks
2. Limbo!
3. A Political Song About Cassette Tapes
4. Do You Still Hate Me? (Jawbreaker cover)
5. "Play Glycerine!"
6. Life in the Malebolge
7. Chicago Hope
Hi, do you have like chords or tab or something for Declaration of Independence? I fucking love it and I'd really like to be able to play it but I am shit at music and would take forever to figure it out myself. Thanks.
Hello! I don't have tabs but I do have chords, it's a very simple song. Tuning is standard tuning except the highest string is tuned a step down from an E note to a D. That isn't too important though, it's only for when I let the higher strings ring out in the second half of the song.Verse: D and GChorus: B minor, D, and GAll of them are played on barre chords. If you have anymore questions or need something like a video detail I am more than willing to post one, just let me know!
Preparing for more tracking this weekend with Spenser. Lots of squares to fill. Our bass auditions went well, should be deciding soon. We're also most likely leaving our practice space, which means a good 3 months of time wasted on waiting for their business license to get renewed during the Winter. Oh, the world is cruel.
Anyway, we're around. There's some possible solo sets I'll be playing soon, and hopefully we'll be out and about with more shows by the end of Winter. All in due time, as usual.
Until next time,
-DED-

After 2 and a half years, here's an original song. Please help out Bucket O' Blood Records and Books by purchasing this comp. Marc does a lot of great stuff for the local punk scene, and he's a pretty cool guy. Not to mention, there are some REALLY AWESOME ARTISTS on the comp as well. Check it out, please:
Two DED acoustic recordings to be released in the next week! HOLY COW!
In the next week you're going to hear two new acoustic recordings from DED that were recorded in the past couple months.
The first one will be on a digital cover compilation for Artistic Integrity Records which will feature a Jawbreaker cover that has been long overdue on my part. It will also feature these other bands doing covers: Kind of Like Spitting, Wide Angles The Please and Thank Yous, Brickmower, John Perrin, Costanza, Devon Kay and The Solutions, and more.
This comp will be available for Free on 1/1/2013 at Artistic Integrity's website.
The second one will be an acoustic original (yep, first song on wax in roughly 2.5 years) on A Caustic Acoustic, a digital benefit compilation for Bucket O' Blood Record and Books. You will hear other unreleased tracks from: Sean Bonette (AJJ), Little Dave Merriman (The Arrivals), Jon Lewis (The Dopamines), Annie Strong (This is My Fist), Nick Woods (Direct Hit!), and more.
This comp will be available for $5 in the next week through Bandcamp, the site is TBA at the moment but I will post it once available! Check out Bucket O Blood's website for details also.
