yknow i never noticed the sheer rareness of images having ids or alt text on this website until i started adding alt text to my art (and trying to remember to add it to any images i post in general, especially text screenshots) and that makes me kinda sad

Don't forget about palestine and do your part by taking at least a few minutes to educate yourself on the other current genocides and similarly severe issues taking place in other countries.

Just knowing they're happening is an important foundation but it doesn't offer much to prevent/end unless you build on it by better familiarising yourself with these issues, especially to understand where and how you can help.

Do your daily click at arab.org too (it all adds up), it's so easy there's no good excuse not to. Set an alarm for it even, work it into your daily routine. Set it as your default page when you open your browser on pc.

Put your money where your mouth is and dedicate to doing what you can.

Another update, life's been odd for me lately but if all goes well I'll be back by late april/early may. Fingers crossed, been looking forward to getting back into it.

Also welcome to everyone who's followed during this hiatus, it's been lovely seeing people still finding this thing in the meantime.

A reminder I plan to get to 366 drawings even if it overflows into next year so rest assured there's still plenty to come.

Hey, update. I've decided to keep posting here and likely set up elsewhere (thinking bsky and maybe cohost). I'm just resigning myself to my work being exposed to the potential to be scraped, there's not much I can do about it right now and I'd rather continue instead of just stopping, so I'll just be avoiding making things I'd really hate to be part of ai systems, extras still might be on other platforms.

Otherwise the break's been nice, I'm hoping to build up a little bit of a backlog before I'm posting again to ensure im around at least a little while in case something comes up. There might also be more traditional art again. But that's all, take care.

Man fuck not to get a little real but I'm so mad that when I finally decide I want to post things I make publicly for the first time since I was a teenager I have to deal with this ai bullshit and all these brainless capitalistic platforms. Take me back to when DeviantArt was usable or hell I'll even take twitter a few years back. I'm just fucked unless something changes incredibly quickly.

I don't want to be such a bummer but it's so demoralising lol. Especially when gimmicky blogs with a lot of consistent material and focus are prime candidates for training ai on. Like the year ends and people are left wanting more from X daily dragon blog so they just take the convenient 300ish illustrations on the same topic and use them to churn out weird visual averages between them for More. Guess including text and dedicating to strong daily themes is a good way to evade the kind of consistency ai tries to pick up on so It'll struggle to replicate in a satisfying manner but even still. It's so depressing. I need to see generative ai like this burnt to the ground.

Said I'd be back when the strike ended but of course it's been a little past that. I got sick again lol (mostly fine now). But also the recent issue with tumblr and ai is annoying and has left me wondering what to do from here.

I'm lucky my work so far has been mostly impersonal designs made on a whim but I did have plans to include elements from pre-existing personal projects, not so much anymore though.

As far as I'm aware I can't use glaze or nightshade from a mobile device (and obviously I don't trust tumblr to honour that opt out option) so I'm considering posting elsewhere in addition to tumblr and keeping the work impersonal, maybe with more personal things elsewhere as a bonus. Any suggestions on other platforms are appreciated, I have a few ideas but its worth it to hear what others think/already use here.

I can't really say when I'll be posting again, maybe give me a week to figure this out and get back into it. Until then, glaze/nightshade all your images/work, free palestine and do your daily click.

If any of you ever feel like what you're doing for Palestine isn't helping anything, I'll tell you right now it's helping me. I know it is fortifying all of us who have been in this fight for years to see so many people willing to speak up. It has never been like this before.

The tide has already turned. The fact that #free palestine will have new posts everyday, that helps me. It helps my mental health knowing that Palestinians are less alone now than ever.

Yesterday I read some verses from the Quran talking about how "the blame" is not with those who wish to help but cannot, but with those who CAN help and do not.

Truly I do not care if all you do for Palestine is post in that #free palestine everyday, that is still more than many people with the means to do even more would do.

We see you. We see you standing in solidarity with us and with Palestinians. We love you. Thank you.
