Idles - Crawler Partisan Records 2021 . It’s taking me a while to get into this one. At least it’s a transitional step forward though, from the stagnant feel of Ultra Mono. And good to hear some personality coming through in the content, to accompany the angry soundbite slogans. Acid Moon and the Pregnant Son - Speakin’ Of The Devil Tonzonen Records 2021 . This is a frustrating record. I bought this for the name and cover alone. The band, however, wear their influences very, very firmly on their sleeves. To the extent that they may as well be a tribute band. Or rather a multitude of tribute bands, mainly the Stones but they’re at their best when in full Jefferson Airplane mode. But you can’t write them off, because they do all this so authentically well! They even have multiple vocalists, ranging from poor to awesome, again adding to the frustration. So I can’t decide whether to dislike this album for being derivative, or to love it because they’re so damn good at what they do. The Fall - New Facts Emerge Warner Bros 1976 . A while back, after the reissue of ‘Are You Are Missing Winner’, I was chatting with someone on here and said I must nearly have all of the Fall’s studio albums. A quick check revealed this not to be true and this 10” was quickly purchased. It was the last studio album to be released before MES’ sad demise and isn’t the best swan song he could have had, although it has some highlights. Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club World Circuit 2021 reissue . One of the best holidays my wife and I went on was travelling around Cuba.
