15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?

When it comes to fic titles, there is no rhyme or reason to it honestly, I just dig around in my brain until I find something that sounds half decent! That feels like such a lame answer to give, but seriously, titles are not my strong suit, so there really isn't a process to it.

Chapters on the other hand, I like them to be cohesive! (This bothers me about the chapter names in Through the Snow. I'm actually thinking of going back and renaming the chapters. Would anybody notice? Probably not, but I still want to do it.) I over all find that I love chapter names that consist of listing small things from the chapter. "Jet Lag, Gift Exchanges, and a Frozen Lake" (chapter 2 of Through the Snow) is a good example of this!

Cyno Thought I had at work today- 5 times Cyno ate something he shouldn’t have and didn't get sick as a dog, and one time he flew too close to the sun…

this isn’t a request or anything it’s just something I thought would be funny to think about lol. The various things through out their relationships that Cyno has eaten and tighnari is just…waiting for it to destroy him. Maybe checking in on him extra cuz “there is no way he ate that gas station sushi and feels fine??” Or! Like with each example, he gets away with it but with more and more side effects? Like the first two he Eats something sus and is fine no issues. The next one, he’s fine, but like maybe a little bloated, but he’s fine and it doesn’t seem to bother him. The fourth one he actually feels kinda gross after but it doesn’t make him sick at all and he’s still cracking jokes even tho Nari is like plz just rest??? And then ofc the fifth one is where all hell breaks loose. Idk I feel like there could be many shenanigans here to play with 🤣

also know you mostly write modern au but i could also see this working in canon au. Through out his travels Cyno comes back to nari and they do their normal check up post mission. Cyno reports what he’s had to eat and nari is just *surprised pikachu* sometimes the stuff he eats(old rations, bugs, mushrooms that probably are safer Cooked but I guess he gets away with it??) has him not having much of an appetite later or other minor symptoms but like..he doesn’t have the massively negative response Tighnari would be expecting. Until the fifth case, where Cyno stumbles home practically green…

I think it would be funny too if he’s fine eating all this weird stuff for survival, random plants and insects or whatever and the thing that gets him ends up being something very normal 😅 nari is ready to prepare all the antidotes for the surly hyper toxic mushroom he ate but nope. He just ate some bad tofu or something

there are Honeslty so many possibilities as to how one could tackle it too!! But that’s all for now byeeee

Alright I absolutely love this! It fits my interpretation of Cyno so well, it's so silly, but I love it. The thought of Tighnari just growing increasingly exasperated because Cyno's repeatedly getting away with eating the most bizarre things.

"Did you really just drink half a carton of expired milk, Cyno you're literally lactose intolerant??"

I love that. And I love the idea of sometimes he's fine, other times he might feel a little off or have a minor side effect, but he's still okay. ...until he inevitably isn't.

It's like his body decided "okay I'm done taking all the weird crap you put in my, I'm going to angrily rebel now."

Tighnari is torn, because he wants to gently scold Cyno and tell him I told you so, but he also just. wants to comfort him. because Cyno is really not feeling well.

He definitely gives him a gentle bonk when he's recovered though, and Cyno has to sit through a lecture about being more careful about what he eats. (But does he actually learn? Maybe for a month. Then the risk taking starts again, because this is Cyno we're speaking of.)

Also THAT LASR SCENARIO!! Modern au is my speciality but I absolutely adore that concept and I will be thinking about it a ton. Poisoning attempts, strange plants and insects, the most questionable shit, Cyno's body weathers them all, but a case of regular old food poisoning is what bests him.

I want to scream about this more but it is getting very late where I am and I should go to bed if I want to not feel like a corpse at work tomorrow. But I will rant about this again because I absolutely love this silly boy and his silly life choices and the consequences they come with.

11. Do you have specific playlists for writing fics?

Surprisingly, no! I love writing and I love listening to music, but the two almost never overlap. Which is actually kind of surprising to me, since I can absolutely see the appeal of using music for inspiration, but my brain just doesn't follow that route!

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

I'm going to have to say Through the Snow! It's my baby, my golden child, that fic has such a special place in my heart. It's a massive comfort fic for me, and I vividly remember having so much fun with the writing process. And I'm just plain proud of it! I love that fic very much.

25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing?

That depends. Upset myself as in, wrote something so emotional it genuinely made me sad? Or upset myself as in, was disappointed with my writing?

Honestly yes to both. I have written stuff so emotional, I had trouble reading the text on the computer screen through my tears. I considered denying this, because I'm not sure if I can share the stuff I've written before creating my identity as Earthquake, without revealing who I really am (linking to works that are posted under my real name). But I love sharing my writing experiences! And I've written some real tear jerkers, I have had tears running down my face as I'm writing!

The second one, less exciting to think about, but yes, I have written stuff that I was just unhappy with and sad about how it turned out. I'm sure every writer has had great ideas that just didn't want to work out on paper, and unfortunately I'm not an exception!

“Well.” Cyno slumped back into the driver's seat, tucking the map away again. He looked over at Tighnari, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “I guess you can say… it had a bad latitude.”

Tighnari stared at Cyno blankly, before slowly raising one eyebrow, unimpressed.

“Get it? Like, attitude, but-”

“If my head wasn't hurting this much I would've left you on the side of the road and driven off.”

Turning my experience from two days ago into a sickfic scenario

character is getting sick but doesn’t know yet, and they’re doing some sort of physical activity when they start getting a little lightheaded/dizzy, but they think it’s fine and will go away so they keep going. Eventually they get to a point where they realise something is wrong, but they keep going anyway because they can ‘deal with it until they finish’.

they end up passing out.

Turns out the reason they were a little woozy and not hungry all day was because they ended up with the flu the day after

I do love this over all scenario in sickfic context, however! I'm a sucker for characters who get whoozy or sick from over exerting themselves in exercise (I'm a little more familiar with the experience than I like to admit). Now the idea of a character who typically doesn't struggle with exercise, but they're in the beginning stage of a flu, so they're having a really tough time? Love it.

Y'all might think I'm silly for doing Sicktember again this year when I'm still chipping away at Novemetober rescheduled, but just try and stop me. I'm insane like that.

(also hey, unlike Novemetober, with Sicktember I challenge myself to actually do the prompts I choose on the correct days, so September will be a month filled with one shots for y'all)

Anyway since we know Tales from the Waiting Room will be a prompt on the Sicktember prompt list, I've already been brainstorming for it and I've got a kind-of-elaborate idea for it!

Cyno and Tighnari are there for Collei who's having some minor procedure, think maybe wisdom teeth surgery. Worried dad Nari, plus Cyno being very uncomfortable but insisting on staying with him in the waiting room for the entire duration because damn it he's not gonna let his hatred of hospitals make him leave Tighnari alone.

Over the course of the hour or so they're waiting, in between snippets of them just being the loving couple we know and love, they watch other characters come and go, really play into the tales of the waiting room. We get a small cameo from just about every one of the main couples I write in the AU, Kazuha and Gorou, Aether and Albedo, etc! Maybe Heizou dragging in his new roommate who had an encounter with the beans he's so allergic to. So many possibilities!

Anyway this is definitely a very elaborate idea, my concept brain ran away with it a bit, but I thought it's something fun and different and I wanted to share it with you guys!

As a side note, I just spent 10 minutes googling different bad jokes to find the perfect one for Cyno in the fic I'm currently working on-

firstly!! I can’t WAIT to read your new fic when I get home!!! So excited for the fluff 🥰

Secondly your idea about the IV fluids thing is SUCH a good vote!! This is soooooo good!!! I absolutely can see something like this for Cyno 👀👀 give that boy strep throat or something (cuz that virus can spread to the stomach too and cause vomiting/I used to get strep all the time and it’s truly a bitch) so he is sick and needs the er cuz the only way to get better is antibiotics!! So you HAVE to go to the doctor or it will just get worse. AND when strep- naturally talking fucking sucks. So he’s not even able to fully express himself he just has to suffer in silence ??? Like not actually ofc lol. idk if this is weird or not- but one of the weirdest memories from my strep adventures as a kid was getting strapped into the car at like 12am to go to urgent care, and I remember just bursting into tears. My dad i think? Was like already panicking and trying to get me to explain what’s wrong and I just was sobbing and said something like “I’m not supposed to BE here!!!!” 🤣

also the good thing with strep in my experience is that once the drugs are in your system you start feeling better fairly fast? It takes longer to actually recover but the difference in relief once you have something in your system fighting the infection is soooo big. BUT if you get it bad enough that you’re vomiting or even having diarrhea it can be tough to keep the meds down so sometimes you just get a fat shot instead.

I'm a little sad to see it wasn't the winning prompt at the end of the day, but Tales from the Waiting Room is still a fantastic prompt, and I already have an idea brewing for it (lemme know if you guys want to hear what I've got in mind!). Plus, I can always still write the IV Fluids idea outside of Sicktember as just a fun lil' thing!

That's such a good concept, oml! I usually avoid writing specific illnesses/naming the illnesses I'm writing for the sake of avoiding misrepresentation, (especially if it's something I haven't had myself. Which applies in this case, I have never had strep throat, so I'd be a little worried about writing it accurately!) but I still reallyyyy love this idea.

Tighnari's (gently) putting his foot down and saying "no, Cyno, we have to go see a doctor, I'm sorry, but this isn't something you can sleep off," and Cyno's just. desperately grabbing Tighnari's hands and shaking his head. He can barely speak so he's just looking at him with large, desperate eyes, holding Tighnari's hands and shaking his head. Poor Tighnari's heart is breaking into a thousand little pieces as he's forced to take Cyno anyway, knowing how much Cyno despises any medical settings and treatment, but he just has no other choice. Bonus points if Cyno gets worse because the mere prospect of having to see a doctor puts him under an enormous amount of stress.

Also I love that little story- XD Like I feel really sorry for poor little-you and I'm sorry you had to go through that at all, but that's so real, when you're at that level of sick. I wish I had a silly little story of my own to respond with, but I have very few childhood hospital memories that I actually remember, most of them happened when I was too young.

Hii just a random “I really appreciate your writing” message I went through a kind of breakup recently so I’ve been avoiding almost anything to do with romantic pairing but your fics are a comfort to me still which is a testament to how special your writing is in my opinion; I think you’re very talented to have certain story elements be present and obvious yet not overly “potent”

I voted for the prompt "IV Fluids!" It just spoke to me, I'm already picturing a whole scenario where the characters have no choice but to go to ER, because the sick character is starting to get dehydrated, and their condition just won't take a turn for a better no matter what the caretaker try and do for them. Bonus points if we have a character, like Cyno or Kazuha, who just,, really don't like hospitals

I had an idea and i wanted to know what you thought about it! Yk how French food isn’t very spicy? Maybe Lumine cooks for Lyney, but he isn’t used to the spicy dishes from Liyue and it makes him feel unwell :(

just some brain rot i thought of while cooking in genshin, love all your writings (◍•ᴗ•◍)♡

OH, OH, NO WAIT THIS IS PERFECT! Especially since we had that event, not too long ago, I think it was right after lantern rite, where the traveler was cooking at Wangshu inn. We got to see that Lyney and his siblings really aren't familiar with spicy food (I mean I don't know how much traveling they do and how much food they actually get to try outside of Fontaine). And better yet, we got to see that Lyney is 100% who will eat something spicy just to be polite, even if it really isn't his thing.

My au version of Lyney is a little more of a goofball than he is in canon, but I can 100% see this still fitting perfectly - Lumine prepares a really fancy liyuen dish and it's so spicy that just the smell makes Lyney's eyes water. But he'd rather face death itself than turn down a meal made by his beloved Lumine.

It is a STRUGGLE to eat and everything is on fire, but Lyney just powers through and says he loves it because he refuses to hurt Lumine's feelings. Mission accomplished, but now, oh, now he's not feeling so good, and his stomach hurts. Lumine wants to lovingly bonk him, because she wishes he had just told her it was too spicy for him, she wouldn't have minded at all.

Ahhh this makes me wanna write these two, gotta line of their fics up next after the Cynonari one I'm working on!

i keep finding reblogs and/or blog recs of you on kink blogs- made me wonder, are you ok with that? bc i might stick a rec to you on my account too tbh

It's fine by me! My blog isn't a kink blog by any means, but I'm not going to stop anybody from enjoying my work. Lord knows a handful of kink blogs played a role in me figuring out that it's okay for me to have this fascination with sickfic content and emeto, even if it's not a kink for me at the end of the day.

As long as people are clear on the fact that my blog is a safe and appropriate space and is strictly to be kept that way, I don't mind who's hanging around and reading!
