After the horrible disappointment of the puyo 7 page with no Ecolo concepts anywhere to be seen (In fact there was no character concept art except for the tetra crew) there was a jackpot to be hit!

And that was in the 20th anniversary section! My personal favorite game!

That's right! Two whole pages of Ecolo! Mostly Unusual Ecolo, mostly diagrams of how they animate! You can see Unusual Ecolo's odd core in here too

You never see these two sprites together in game, strange how they were put together here, is this possibly a beta animation?

Here is another one with their strange core including The Diagram of Splat

But it is very interesting to see the I guess animation story boarding process? I don't know what you would call this. Still wonder what the concept art for Unusual Ecolo would look like, and since this is right after 7 you really gotta wonder how usual Ecolo's concept art in this game may look!
