Literally I love mcr so much. You all fucking know this. But the themes/narratives/messages are REALLY fucking straightforward and this is because Gerard Way is a storyteller. Its not difficult to comprehend three cheers or black parade. Hell, the only thing that makes danger days difficult is the fact that there's 4 separate canons. Gerard has a story and he sticks to it and that helps get what he's trying to say across very clearly. His lyrics are really good, but again, he's an author. Not a poet

Fall out boy is literally THEE english major band. They reference everything from Palahniuk to Leonard Cohen to Alien to John Hughes. Understanding of pop culture literally enhances your enjoyment of fall out boy so much. You don't have to get references to think black parade is clever. Pete isn't trying to tell a story, but there's always somewhat of a narrative. You just have to be willing to sit down and pick it apart and think about it. Also his lyrics are almost always the best in the game. HOW can you listen to fall out boy and not say they have any depth. That's literally like reading Lord of the Rings and being like idk I wish JRR Tolkien had written this as a metaphor instead of just making a fun little fantasy story :/ it's too shallow for me. Like ok just admit you have a third grade reading level and an unwillingness to think critically about the media you consume.
