Well, if you don’t want innocent opinions don’t let your letters all around the common room. For a lady, you’re rather messy, my dear.
Since when has anything you've ever done been 'innocent'?

Last Minute {Emma / Annie}
Emma hurried towards the library, a recurring theme in her life it seemed, was to always be running to one place or another. This was of course for the Potions essay that was due tomorrow (first lesson to top it off - leaving no time to finish it in the morning) and that she had, what with all her other commitments, somehow forgotten to do. What with the class being taught by Professor Slughorn it was already hard for her to make an impression in that class, thanks to all of his blatant favouritism to those in his precious 'Slug Club'. That meant every essay she wrote, and everything she did in that class had to be the best. Not just her best, but the best. So, maybe, considering her high standards she'd set for herself, it wasn't the best idea to leave it so late.
The best part about the whole ordeal was the essay required using research from numerous books that no student in their right mind would posess (it was meant to build useful skills), and hence the rather rushed trip to the library to check out these books and rush back to her dorm, where she would rush this essay.
Emma had managed to get two of the books she needed, and still had one more to go, locating these books had proved much harder than expected, and Emma had actually had to ask for assistance from the librarian as to finding one, which was not an easy thing to do for someone with as high a sense of pride as her. She was just headed towards the isle containing the third book, when she spotted someone else already with it.
"Excuse me, Weasley, but I need that book," she started, her tone full of frustration, "Now, if you don't mind."

Ida is an awful name though.
Well it was my grandmother's name, and I don't see what it has to do with you anyway.

I've always wanted to name my kids after my grandparents, so Charles or Ida.

Writing Challenge #1
Emma Vanity walked briskly to the Great Hall, somehow her and the rest of her dorm hadn't quite gotten into the usual schedual and had been woken up rather frantically, realising they'd overslept, and would miss breakfast if they didn't get there in less time than seemed possible. Add that to the fact Emma had to visit Dumbledore before breakfast anyway, so he could ramble on a bit about the duties of a Head Girl and Boy. Needless to say by the time she reached his office Frank Longbottom had already left, and so she had the pleasure of one of the headmaster's more tiring speeches. Merlin, at this rate by the time she got there no food would be left anyway.
Emma couldn't possibly imagine what he'd done in the space of the twenty four hours they'd been at the school this year that was humiliating enough to be the cause of this taunting. Still, served the boy right, she supposed, always prancing around with that stupid smug grin on his face, making fun of pretty much everyone, something like this was bound to happen sooner or later, and Emma was just sad to know she'd missed most of it. Opportunities to watch someone with an ego as big as her dearest ex boyfriend being mocked in front of hundreds of people didn't happen every day.
From here she could see Chris was scowling, she assumed that it was too early for him to come up with anything witty to reply this time in the morning, because she knew he'd never miss an opportunity to show of his sharp tongue. Bloody wanker, he could be. Well, honestly, he was a wanker most of the time, and Emma wasn't going to pretend there was anything even remotely endearing in his big-headed-ness. Nor attractive, or sexy. Rationally there wasn't anything remotely appealing in the majority of Chris's qualities, but for some inexplicable reason Emma found herself helplessly drawn to him. It must be his face. Yes, that was probably it; he was extremely good looking after all. Better looking than most of the guys in her year.
Oh, Merlin, she was at it again. Already. The staring, the pining, the (unsuccessful) convincing that Chris Mulciber was an utter tosser for whom she had no interest. And this year was meant to be a fresh start. Great day so far of course, first being late for a 'meeting' and now this. Needless to say, she couldn't wait until the majority of her friends were finished eating and with their mindless gossip, so she could leave and not make a big spectacle of doing it alone for what would seem to be no reason. Emma exhaled sharply, looking up at Chris one last time, before turning back to her friends. Emma Vanity was not concerned anymore with the likes of Chris Mulciber, and saw no point dwelling on the boy. Emma Vanity had more important things to focus on. And besides, it's not like there weren't plenty of other guys in the school, all of whom would be hers in an instant if she dangled the idea infront of them.
But there was only one Chris Mulciber.

Emma survayed for a few moments; it was clear by the small gap in conversation, and the ridiculous look on his face with that arched eyebrow that he wasn't entirely sure what to answer, what move he should follow with. Amusing really, watching someone so calculated and manipulative not know what to do. Though, she supposed she herself must have looked somewhat like this during at least one point in their conversation, where her façade slipped just enough to let him know he was winning. So, needless to say it was more than satisfying to see him like this, a mere boy, simply playing at being a man. She wondered when they'd all become this, a generation of children pretending to be adults, pretending they were something they were not, and knew not how to be.
And then Chris did something she wasn't expecting, he raised his hand, touching her this time, his hand settling on her waist, so Emma could feel the heat radiating from it, as though it was buring a whole through her clothes. He was talking, saying her name in different variations, but Emma wasn't listening to that nonsense. What good would it do her to give in to the same tricks he'd used before? That he'd used on other girls, and would use again. In essence she'd already fallen for it, once again, but Emma Vanity, Head Girl and Slytherin, was not about to admit that to anyone, let alone herself.
She tuned back in to the current situation, looking up at him, so their eyes met once more. No hiding it under games? The comment was almost laughable, she knew well enough, after all, to know that it was exactly what he was doing now. Emma could tell, everything from the deep breath after he spoke, to his words itself screamed it. She knew this because she had done this so many times, to so many people. At the end of the day, as much as she tried to deny it to herself, and as much as she despised some of his views, her and Chris were a great deal more alike that she cared to let on.
"I've already told you what I want to know, Mulciber," she started, not moving his hand from her waist, but remaining still, "I want to know what you're doing out here. What you were doing before we had the misfortune of bumping into eachother like this, and why you were doing it." Emma gave him a short smile before taking one step away from him, and awaiting his reply.
Sneaking Around {Emma / Chris}
He’s put her in a bad situation, that was certainly true. But what was also true was the fact that he was no-one else than Christopher Mulciber, and he was known for playing with people’s mind quite easily without having to use a wand, unlike others of his very age. A confident smile, almost like a smirk, made its appearance of the Slytherin’s face, rather pleased with himself, upon noticing that Emma was struggling with taking the correct decision. It was tough being in a position of power, as one would always have his – or her, in this case – favourites. And no matter what, Chris was positive that he was still on Emma’s favourites list, despite their past.
His eyebrow arched with slight surprise at the girl’s words, the male Slytherin carefully paying attention to her words. So, she wanted to know the truth? Well, that was going to be a bit complicated; it’s not as if he could openly and nonchalantly admit that he’s been practising hexes and curses on creatures near the Forbidden Forest without absolutely and most surely getting punished afterwards. Even Emma there couldn’t let him go if he’d admit doing such a thing. Plus, only Avery knew of these escapades of his, and may Merlin burn his best friend alive, as he wasn’t there when Chris needed him.
But, thankfully, an idea popped into his mind, something that’d get him out of this mess without having to answer the question properly. Chris bit his lower lip, as his hands raised once more, but this time round gently landed on Emma’s waist. He didn’t get any closer, to completely close the almost nonexistent gap between the two of them, nor did he pull her towards him, even if he could easily do so. “Emma.” The boy started, in the same low whispers as before. “Miss Vanity.” He looked her in the eyes, for a moment thinking how much he was messing things there, stepping on his huge ego and making a first step in this thing, just so he wouldn’t get detention for life.
Chris also had several options. He could easily tell the girl in front of him that he was with another, that he’s completely and undoubtedly moved on, but, unfortunately, he’d have to be the best of actors to do such a thing, especially with her that close to him. This Slytherin could easily lie in the most twisted situations, but he just couldn’t now. “Just ask me what you want to know.” He went on, still looking into her eyes, at her, without even blinking. “Directly, no hiding it under games. Where do you think I was and you want me to deny I’ve been?” Chris ended, as he took a deep breath. Games or no games, being so close to her was painful, for all points of view.

Chris was right. He wasn't right in the morally right way, obviously, but he was right. She had to choice where her loyalties lay; with the school, or with her house. Emma had spent a great portion of the summer supposing that she would have to make a choice like this, one in which she would decide with whom she was loyal to, but she'd aways thought it would be more meaningful and important that this. What with all the conversations her parents had been having in low whispers when they thought she couldn't here, she knew what they thought was coming. This, however, was, admitidly, almost laughable in that sense. But, either way, it was a choice none-the-less.
And then he stepped towards her, closer this time than before, blurring her choices further. It wasn't between her house and her school, not really. This was about her, her and Chris, and their stupid struggle to be more powerful than the other. Emma closed her eyes for a few moments, exhaling slowly. Thoughts of how easy would it be to end this conversation in a pointedly different way than the options he gave, one that involved breaking the promise she'd made to herself. Obviously these were quickly pushed to the back of her mind, and so she snapped open her eyes, knowing what she should do.
"Well, how about this as a deal. You tell me what you're doing out here, and you tell me the truth - I'll know if it's not - and I'll, let's say, forget, the rules that state all the stuff about detentions and deducting points. After all, we're getting dangerously close to beating Gryffindor on that front, and I wouldn't want to ruin our chances." She raised her eyebrows at him expectantly, waiting for his response.
Emma was a Slytherin before she was a Head Girl, she reasoned with herself. It was in her blood. Literally. And what good would another detention do Mulciber anyway? There are some people who never learn - not like that anyway. There were other ways to teach guys like Mulciber, most of which involved beating them at their own games.
Sneaking Around {Emma / Chris}
There was something that made Chris not trust her words; maybe the fact that they’ve been on and off for so long now, that he did expect at some point for them to be on again. Her words said something, but he felt a whole different thing. The Slytherin said nothing, nonetheless, he simply arched an eyebrow at her words; it seemed that she was enjoying very much remembering him that, this time round, she had ended things. Girls and their precious, ridiculous pride issues; what could a guy do, but leave them be.
And Avery seemed to be a subject that Emma just couldn’t let go of, now didn’t it? Mulciber ran a hand through his hair, afterwards stretching out his arms as he let out a slightly mocking laughter. And then she started with the threatening, even better, wasn’t it? The boy sighed deeply, before looking at her again, casually enjoying the view. “Well - “ He started, on a more serious tone than before, as he slowly started walking towards her one more. “ - I think you have two options here, Head Girl.”
Chris paused for a moment, before going on. “You can either deduct me points and give me detention, meaning that you’ll respect the rules and be a wonderful Head Girl, who, ironically will end up being hated by most of the Slytherin house, for not being a good mate.” He smirked, feeling more and more influential as each moment passed by. “Or, you could be a good mate, and this meeting will stay between us two, with the promise from my side, that I’ll be more careful as to not get caught by you, from now on.”
He stopped in front of her, this time round, the distance between them two being less noticeable than last time. “I think the latter option is the best one, seeing as you’ll have to stay with me during detention and, well, you’ve been avoiding me since the beginning of the term.” Well, he’s been avoiding her too, but that wasn’t the point. If Emma’d have wanted to see him, she would have, no?

If you go back to one point in time to give advice to yourself, when would you go and what would you say?
I'd go back to any time I've doubted myself and I'd say: don't be an idiot. You know what you want, and you have the power to get it. There's nothing stopping you.

This was getting increasingly more stupid, and Emma saw no need to indulge Chris in his little games, or whatever it was he was trying to do. Emma Vanity was better than all of this, all the stupid night patrols, and stupid pupils. He was, after all was said and done, just a silly little boy, and she could and would, do so much better than him, and quite frankly, most things this school has ever had to offer her. She knew that. She just needed to remember that more often.
"I'm not jealous, Mulciber. You seem to fail to remember that I have no reason to be," she said calmly, her voice level, with a carefully calculated amout of sarcasm and condesention thrown in. In fact, everything about her response, and indeed, most things she ever said, was calculated to near perfect presision; from the angle she arched one of her eyebrows into, to the light tilt of her head. Her persona was pretty much made up of entirely contrived mannerisms. She knew she was close to letting her guard down again, and so saw all the more reason to put the walls back up as quickly as she could.
"Are you going to tell me what you're doing out here? Without your trusty sidekick I might add," Emma paused for a moment before adding, "You know I could get you in some serious trouble, and from what I hear, you're in enough as it is." She then proceeded to smile at him, though there was nothing remotely warm or friendly in this gesture.
Sneaking Around {Emma / Chris}
Did I just get burnt?
Chris thought to himself, as a playful, yet amused smirk made its way on his face. Of course she’d mention his best friend, Avery; how couldn’t she? It was a bit curious though; whilst Avery had come up quite a bit in his and Emma’s discussions over the years, him and his mate rarely even talked about her. They usually exchanged opinions on other things, but they did indeed keep their personal lives as they were, personal. Whilst he didn’t know for Avery himself, Chris had made a promise to himself that he’d never judge his closest friend for his choices in what concerned girls. Merlin himself knew how many wrong choices he’s made himself in that area and Avery barely mentioned a thing.
“It sounds as if you’re jealous, Miss Vanity.” The Slytherin stated, not abstaining himself from laughing a bit. It was amusing; out of all possible people, she mentioned Avery. She could have mentioned other girls, but she hadn’t; she approached the Avery subject. The boy straightened his back, and took a deep breath as he stopped laughing, his head slowly nodding in disapproval. Loosening his tie just a bit, Chris bit his lower lip, gaze falling on her figure once more. This was awkward indeed; the feeling that he wanted nothing but to touch her, to kiss her because she was being awkwardly silly; but he couldn’t, he wouldn’t, not even for a moment.
She had to do it first.
And, if anything, Emma felt as if she was his sole weakness. For one reason or another, despite him not showing it at all, or revealing it through mockery or sarcasm, Chris was indeed weak in front of her. And he truly hated how much he enjoyed having this feeling. Nonetheless, he needed to pull himself together. He needn’t show any sign of true weakness. No. That was undoubtedly crossed off the list.
“But, at least, in comparison with some, I for sure know he won’t leave me once he’s reached success.” If she’s thought that he didn’t have a reply, then Emma was definitely wrong. “I mean, look at you, glorious Head Girl, ends things with the most perfect of boyfriends once she’s become a tiny bit more popular.”
Chris arched his eyebrows once again, this time being a bit more serious and noticeably less playful than moments before. “I mean, Avery shall never be ashamed from being seen with me; unlike others, he’s truly honoured that I’m his friend.” Well, in all honesty, Chris did have his pack of admirers around the school, both girls and boys. For example, it wasn’t a secret to anyone how much Snape had desired his friendship, now was it?
He was nobody else than Chris Mulciber and everyone should be honoured to be in his presence, even his former girlfriend.
