Assassins AU, Dark Ministry AU, dystopia. 350 words

(Inspired by me watching 3 John Wick films in 2 days. title is a film quote)

Once again they’re facing each other in a bathroom, a public toilet near Leicester Square this time, wands out, smashed sinks around them. Water leaks from a burst pipe on the floor. The Muggles have fled at the first hex that blew up the door of the cubicle Harry was hiding in, patching the cut on his shoulder.

Harry’s wound bleeds steadily down his left arm. His right, though, is firm, unshaken. ‘I never knew you to get out of bed for under 3 million.’

Draco smirks, eyes trained on Harry. ‘The contract on your head is 5 million Galleons now.’ He tsks. ‘You went too far, Harry. You shouldn’t have killed the head of the Wizengamot.’ He pauses, lowers his voice. ‘No matter who they threatened.’

This job, this Ministry, has chipped away at Harry’s life until he's been left with nothing. Almost nothing. Harry's voice shakes with fury. ‘I wouldn’t have them take away the only thing I care about.’

Draco blinks with some complicated emotion. ‘I could’ve handled whoever they sent. You didn’t need to go on a rampage.’

Harry, wand still high, steps closer. ‘And now they’ve turned you against me.’

Draco shrugs. ‘It’s 5 million.’ But he drops his wand and gazes at Harry with such love and despair that Harry can’t stop himself from lunging closer and holding Draco’s face in his hands.

‘I couldn’t take the chance. I’ll never take that chance. The moment they declared your life forfeit, that was the moment they signed their death warrant. I’ll raze the whole fucking Ministry to the ground if I have to.’

Draco leans his forehead against Harry’s. ‘My life is forfeit — unless I kill you. All my sins absolved; a pardon signed; I get to leave this job, the Ministry. If I kill you for them.’

Getting out: they both know what this means. The mythical, impossible dream of it. Harry brushes his lips against Draco’s. ‘Do it, then. Get your life back. I want you to.’

‘You’re silly,’ Draco says fondly. ‘What kind of life would I have without you?’

What can I say about this fic other than to go read it right now if you haven’t already. This is a true piece of art that’ll make you unable to put it down until you finish. There was clearly so much hard work and effort put into this fic and it shows in it’s imagery and brilliant dialogue- as well as the amount of info on formula one racing im certain i wouldve never known about if i hadnt read this !! All in all this is an amazing work and i will definitely be re-reading it in the near future <3

Draco looked at Potter’s hand around his wrist and then up at Potter’s face. He was so close and he was looking at him with concern in his face, green eyes bright and eyebrows furrowed.

Before he knew what he was doing, Draco was reaching out with the arm not gripped by Potter. As if it had a mind of its own, his hand tangled in Potter’s messy hair, pulling him forward. Draco pressed his lips against Potter’s, feeling his heart leap all the way into his throat. He kissed with everything he had in him, gently pulling Potter’s bottom lip with his teeth, cradling his head with his hand. Potter gasped against him, and the kiss deepened as his mouth opened. Potter tasted hot, and faintly of cardamom tea, and Draco fought back a moan as he licked into his mouth, desperate and unbearably turned on.

It was only when Potter’s arm came to wrap around his waist that any semblance of thought returned to his brain.

He ripped himself away from Potter’s mouth.

“I am so sorry,” he exclaimed.

“I-wha-huh?” managed Potter, blinking and looking thoroughly well-snogged.

“I didn’t mean—you don’t even remember—”

“Remember what?” Suddenly, Potter’s eyes became huge. “Have we done this before? In one of the loops?”

“No!” said Draco, shaking his head madly. “I mean—you don’t remember…all the times I came to see you and you don’t—you don’t feel the way I do—it’s not—”

Draco couldn’t recall the last time he had sounded so ineloquent. His mother would be ashamed of him.

“How do you know how I feel?” asked Potter.

Draco just stared at him.

“I want to kiss you again,” said Potter, seriously. “Is that how you feel?”

At a loss for words, Draco nodded.

Do you think Drarry use pet names for each other? I like it but sometimes it feels cheesy

They don’t use them daily but Draco will hold Harry by the neck during sex and the subsequent whisper of “darling” makes Harry come so fast he’s whiplashed. Draco’s not immune, his cryptonite is “baby”.

Sometimes “love” maybe but very sparingly. If they’re using “sweetheart” they’re mad and being passive aggressive. Honestly, using each others first name is a pet name to them.
