WHERE: Room of Requirement
WHEN: February 23rd, 2024 (evening, shortly before curfew)
Lily had always grappled with the quiet.
Nearly two months since the battle, Lily found herself watching as the castle slipped into a sense of complacency – of STILLNESS. It was nights like these where she found herself missing her father the most. The worst part of silence was that it forced her to think – think about emotions that she didn’t want to dwell on for too long. She couldn’t allow herself to succumb to this grief. She just had to smother it, and alcohol was the only way she knew how, so she drank. Then drank some more. It wasn’t the smartest idea, given the current state of the castle, but she just wanted to quiet her mind for once. She needed to forget about all the fuck ups and mistakes and mourning and longing and missing and regret. To forget and ESCAPE.
So that night, when she reached the seventh floor, she didn’t make the usual right towards the Fat Lady’s portrait but went left, towards the Room of Requirement. She wanted to take refuge there for the night, where her housemates wouldn’t find her. Tomorrow she would face the world again, but tonight, she’d allow her this pitiful excuse of a break from everything and everyone.
But when she finally stumbled through the door, thinking about her father again, the Room of Requirement looked…different from what she last remembered it to be. She’d asked it for a place to rest several times before, but this time, there wasn’t only a bed but also a mirror. An ornate mirror with some kind of strange inscription on it that she couldn’t make sense of. But what mattered to Lily more was what she saw in that mirror: her dad standing beside her.
It was impossible. She was wasted – she was wasted, and she had to be seeing things. Her dad wasn’t there beside her; he was dead. But yet, he looked so real, so close to how she remembered him. Heartbeat racing, she couldn’t help but take a glance around the room, almost expecting him to be standing next to her. Almost. But of course, he wasn’t.
Tears threatening to spill, she quickly clenched her eyes, trying to fight them off and just barely succeeding. She didn’t understand. Was this…was this some kind of strange window to the afterlife? If she walked closer to the mirror, to her dad, would she…risk crossing the veil?
Deciding after merely split seconds of hesitation that it was worth the risk, she stepped closer the mirror, gingerly touching the glass and meeting his hands. It was solid. “Dad – I – Dad, are you…are you actually here? Give me a sign or something if you are. Please. I – I need to talk with you…there’s – there’s just so much I have to say…things I didn’t say when I should’ve…” she managed to splutter out, slightly slurring over her words. “Please.”

It wasn’t often that Ever drifted off to sleep before everyone else in her dorm. Whether from paranoia or just needing to see them safe in their beds, she couldn’t close her eyes. This night was no different. Everyone slowly wound down for bed as curfew neared and Ever lay with her eyes on Lily’s empty bed. Dread. It sunk down into her stomach as the minutes ticked by and there was no sign of her best friend. It wasn’t exactly strange for Lily to not show up on time-- especially after the death of Harry-- but that usually meant she’d been drinking or something was going on with the M.A.. Either could spell trouble.Quietly, she slipped out of bed. Armed with a cloak, slippers and her wand, she made her way out into the common room, and when she didn’t find Lily there, then the hallway. It was dark-- too still for her liking but Ever continued on trying to hide the glow of lumos halfway under her cloak as not to draw too much attention to herself. Hogwarts was dangerous. If not for the confusing corridors and stairways it was filled with people who wanted to hurt others.
It was subtle at first. The feeling of being watched itched at the back of her neck. Fear ran a chill down her spine as that feeling grew stronger and stronger until eventually a pair of footsteps accompanied it. Ever wasn’t sure if it was a prefect or professor or someone else entirely but she sprinted. She ran as fast as she could knowing that if she stopped she was caught. However, at the end of the hall a door appeared-- a safe haven from who ever could be after her. She swung open the door, slipped in side and watched it fall closed as the glow of a wand rounded the corner.
Maybe her entrance wasn’t as graceful as it could have been. Lily would probably think it was rude of her to come bursting through the door of her Room of Requirement. Ever didn’t care. At the sound of sniffles she whipped around grateful, thankful and every single word that could mean the same when she saw the bright red hair that was Lily’s trademark. “Lily.” She breathed out sweeping a hand through her hair trying to catch her breath. It took her only a moment to really taken in the room-- in the mirror that Lily was sat in front of. Ever approached slowly, studying it before finally reaching out a hand to place on Lily’s shoulder-- staying out of the mirror’s reflection for now but taking a seat next to her. “What’s this thing?” That was better than everything else she’d wanted to say right then. ‘Are you okay?’ ‘Why didn’t you come back?’ ‘You worried me’ ‘I was scared’ She’d keep those questions all buried away and let herself deal with it instead of Lily. “--Why don’t we get some water, hm?”

where: abandoned greenhouse
when: the day after viv is found hurt, ( aka idk a date lol )
who: @alicelngbttms
It was all too much. Lily first and then Viv it seemed as if the world was crumbling out from under her feet. She felt helpless and maybe that was the point the Death Eaters were trying to get across. But it wasn’t going to stop her from trying. Trying to save her friends and family? Trying to fight people who were more than ready to hurt everyone? Ever wasn’t sure but she had to do something. She thought she was beginning to sound more and more like Lily as the days passed by and tension thickened-- but look where that got her. She hadn’t slept much-- anger and exhaustion was much better than whatever else came along with this situation. Too much. Too quick. She had to fix things-- set everything right again. They wouldn’t go on hurting the people she loved without consequence. She would make sure.
Her first thought was Alice. Double agent or whatever she wanted to be called had to mean she knew something. And Ever needed to know whatever information that was-- leader of the M.A. or not. Ever didn’t care.  Ever stormed through the corridors, wiping at her tears before the had a chance to make it down her cheeks. She searched every single spot she knew her sister to favor, knocking shoulders with those who got in her way before finally making her way down to the empty greenhouse they met in every now and then. Ever swung open the door, there was no time for greetings as she rushed over to her sister. Relief made her forget the tears she’d been so desperately trying to keep from falling but now fell down her cheeks. “ Do..you know where Lily was taken? --And...wh-who hurt Vivienne? I know..” She let out a shaky breath before continuing. “--I know that you know something. ”

DANDELION: Do you think you’re important?
“Does it matter?” Deflection, of course. To her it doesn’t. It’s just what she is used to feeling and feelings are something she shares so easily. Do you think you’re important? Short answer is no. Having a sister that soaks in attention like it’s sunshine or one that is far too likable; having  Lily and Vivienne as best friends had taught her to be humble. She wasn’t the main character, always the back up-- the one you are only interested in because of who she’s with.
“Sure. If I really have to answer” Ever lowers her gaze and toys with the ends of her hair. It’s not resentment because she ‘gets it’. “--But like I said it doesn’t matter.”

HELICONIA: Do you like when it rains?
"Hm.” Ever scrunches up her nose. “It rains too much here so I can’t say I hate it or like it-- it’s kind of how it is. Clear, sunny days though-- those are my favorites.”
Tumblr media
OXLIP: Would you ever get into a long distance relationship?
"No.” A simple answer for a complicated question. “Relationships are already complicated close by but-- faraway wouldn’t that make it even more difficult?” Who was she kidding? She wasn’t going to date someone here in England ( or was she...) why would she date someone from a different country? Stupid.

TULIP: For your birthday, what kind of cake do you ask for?
“Probably my own.” She smirks. “--Strawberry. Not the artificial flavored kind the whole ‘vanilla cake with cream cheese icing and fresh strawberries layered on’ kind.

pomegranate, raspberry, papaya
pomegranate: when do you feel the most confident?
Answered here.
raspberry: favorite flower?
Those wildflowers that you see by the side of the road. She also really loves foxgloves and sunflowers-- because those were the first flowers her father taught her how to care for plants with when she was little. However, if you ask her personally she’d probably say she doesn’t have a favorite.
papaya: what song describes your aesthetic?
Speechless by Naomi Scott and Noir by Sunmi

pomegranate + lychee
pomegranate: when do you feel the most confident?
Ever is quite the trickster. She seems confident all of the time due to her fiery temper and inability to filter her comments. She stands for what she believes in and will let you know you are wrong if you are wrong but she rarely actually feels confident. There are a lot of times when she stands strong because she knows it’ll be easier for her to take a blow than the others. When in reality, her pride and feelings are hurt pretty often and there are always moments of doubts and second thoughts about the things she does or said. The only people who would know are the people who’ve been close to her for a while– just because she rarely drops the whole ‘i’ll fight you if u try me’ facade.
lychee: satin or lace?
Satin. She likes both but she favors satin just because it’s softer to the touch than lace is.

Fenna already felt the buzz of alcohol in her body — she felt like she was slightly humming, and she embraced it fully. It was better than the tension she seemed to feel at all times those days, and with a hangover potion already waiting on her bedside table, she had no plans of holding back tonight. That was as long as her hands would cooperate. Fenna stood with a beer bottle in her hand, trying to get rid off the cap by pushing it against the edge of a table. She seemed to lack the strength, though, or the technique, and frustration washed over her face. The bottle ended up on the table, still closed, and she looked around for a moment before — “Hey, you! Do you have a beer opener? Or a  lighter? Or, like, the strange skill to open beer bottles with your teeth or bellybutton, like those freaks on the internet?”

The glass of the window as cool against her back. A clear contrast to the warmth of the room but a welcomed one. Ever had perched herself up on the windowsill much happier sitting on the sidelines of the party than being in the middle. She didn’t care much for large crowds of drunk people ( idiots, obviously ) or quidditch ( also, with an exception or two, idiots ) and somehow she had been dragged here and then, thankfully, promptly ditched for said quidditch. So took delicate sips of her drink as she scanned her peers until they finally landed on a familiar figure. A small smile found it’s way onto her lips as she watched Fenna struggle with the bottle. Cute. She rolled her eyes as someone approached in attempt to help her out. There wasn’t even second of hesitation before Ever hopped down from her seat and made her way over, pushing in front of the person who seemed to be contemplating biting the lid off with a glare. “It’s not that hard.” She took the bottle from the table, covered the lid with the edge of her dress to protect her hand before twisting the top off, and held it out for Fenna. “Not exactly freak or from the internet but-- I’m guessing you really don’t care. --But I’m curious as to how you were going to open it with a lighter..”
