T hey say that history repeats itself, that all things happen for a reason –– less could be said about the annual purge night. a night that was full of violence and rage masked with a simple hazard of vengeance, harmless satisfaction in the act of murder; or so they claimed. the best way to survive the purge ? stay inside, don’t let anyone in, keep a weapon of your choice close –– a gun preferred –– and under all circumstances, try to not piss off anyone for the duration of the rest of the year. it’ll end up biting you in the ass; getting you slaughtered without mercy –– karma is a bitch if you fuck with it hard enough. sirens had rung two hours ago, annual broadcast from founding fathers and government officials alike sprung over televisions throughout the nation, the night was planned to a tee. blue had expected to stay home, cooped up in the small area –– a few shows on the tv to distract herself from violent mannerisms that spewed from outside, becoming white noise against blaring of laugh tracks –– all while a hand weapon was pressed to her side. that was two hours ago, and nothing had gone the way it was planned. expectations flew out the window as soon as she broke the second rule ... she let someone into her home. of course her defensive was that it was a friend ! but, you can’t trust anyone on purge night.
H eart is thudding methodically against ribcage, sock covered feet cut by shards of glass as she ran, ran far from the hell she merely escaped. it was stupid to get herself onto the streets at the beginning of the blood bath to come –– defenceless shell of a girl, open target to whatever was wanted from purgers that seek the thrill of death; murder –– especially through the open aired streets of downtown.
H eavy breaths escape from lips, cut petal and beginnings of a bleeding nose evident from previous escape of her own home, feet padding harshly against concrete; she had no idea where to turn, where her ‘ friends ’ were lurking. perhaps in the shadows of alleys, maybe still cooped up in her home, making themselves comfortable in place where she should. but now ? she was running for her life. who knew what the night would bring ? despite her best intentions, blue knew that their mission was for her to be dead and gone by the time those sirens rung at seven.
T ired eyes are widened with fright; a deer in headlights as a singular car is heard, ears pricking forward in a way of distraction. edges closer to the rolling tyres, breath seemingly pressed to her chest –– quieter than before, calmer in some sense. although, it’s not needed, the night wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. people were out to kill, her mind seemed to forget that for a minute. her hair is knocked from face by an abused hand, knuckles scraped by gravel and bitten by rage, stance moving once more to situate close to blacked out windows; blacked out vehicle. was she scared ? yes. would she let her slim chance of survival dwindle because an expected sense of security ? also yes. bit by bit, second by slipping second, time ticks by as shaking legs –– shaking body –– move towards the light at the end of the tunnel. the safety blanket that is assumed occupied. but once again, rather be brutally murdered by a stranger than a friend. palms press flat to blocked doors, hands desperately banging against fogged windows –– it was quiet, no one was around and before blue can think of anything else to do, tears brim at the outline of her eyes and throat swells. “ help me ! they’re –– - they’re tryna’ kill me ! ”
@glorysoaked / didn’t actually ask for this trash(tm)

“ M hm, serial killer hands. ” words echo his own, previous statement noted as her body is slumped against metal chair, repetition of voices engulf small statuette while she sits. “ ––– - is there a problem with me that sayin’ that ? ” genuine curiosity sparks slightly fogged mind, things weren’t supposed to happen like this ! especially not with her in the line of fire. “ inappropriately ? god, no ! ––– … who do ya’ think i am ? look, dewey–– is that even relevant ? ”

❛ SCREAM 2 SENTENCE STARTERS
tw for violence, murder, weapons, all that good stuff
“I hate scary movies.”
“It’s good to be scared. It’s primal.”
“Listen, I read my Entertainment Weekly, okay? I know my shit.”
“I got my money, I asked for your money.”
“You know, I don’t even know you and I dislike you already.”
“I don’t like being scared. I don’t like that.”
“Scary movies are great foreplay.”
“Hey, move your ass! You’re late.”
“You know me and organized religions.”
“Lower the walls for the next few days, okay?”
“This self-induced isolation you got going is not healthy.”
“You can’t blame real-life violence on entertainment.”
“It’s a classic case of life, imitating art, imitating life.”
“I lived through this. Life is life. Doesn’t imitate anything.”
“Are you suggesting that someone is trying to make a real-life sequel?”
“Many sequels have surpassed their originals.”
“Well, there’s no accounting for taste.”
“I’d let the geek get the girl.”
“It’s starting again.”
“Multiplexes are just a dangerous place to be these days.”
“You’re in extreme denial.”
“This has nothing to do with us.”
“Can’t we just go back to our psuedo-quasi-happy existence?”
“I skipped. I couldn’t take all the ‘That’s Her!’ looks.”
“You’re playing with the big boys now, got it?”
“Your flattering remarks are both desperate and obvious.”
“Be kind. She saved our lives.”
“She had calf implants!”
“I’m gonna get closer.”
“This must be flat-out hell for you.”
“How are you holding up?”
“It’s really weird, isn’t it? To think this fuss is all because of you!”
“What are you doing here?”
“I was worried about you.”
“Things were okay, until now.”
“I’m seeing someone. Nice guy, pre-med, no apparent psychotic tendencies.”
“I just want you to be careful.”
“What am I supposed to do? Cut everybody off? Crawl under a rock?”
“I want to make sure you’re safe, if that’s alright with you.”
“Nothing like a funeral to bring the family together.”
“What the hell are you doing?”
“I forgive and forget. Just like you, I’d like to get back on with my own life.”
“You bitch!”
“Did you get that on film?”
“You need to check your conscience at the door, sweetie. I’m not here to be loved.”
“I don’t condone violence, but maybe you deserved it.”
“Don’t you think your overreacting, just a little bit?”
“How do you know that my dim-witted inexperience isn’t merely a subtle form of manipulation used to lower peoples’ expectations, thereby enhancing my ability to effectively maneuver within any given situation?”
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to say.”
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some oozing to do.”
“I think you’re taking your psych major a little too seriously.”
“ ‘I’m fine,’ yeah—fucked up, insecure, neurotic and emotional.”
“HI! No, I really mean that—hi!”
“That shit only calls you when he’s drunk. Don’t go over there.”
“You sound loaded. What’s up?”
“Drink with your brain, that’s our motto.”
“Do you want to die tonight?”
“I’m outta here!”
“Did anyone call for me?”
“It’s your ill-conceived boyfriend.”
“Everyone thinks that sororities are just about blow-jobs, but it’s not true!”
“It’s happening again, isn’t it?”
“Better hurry. Might get scooped.”
“Get your jacket. Let’s get you home.”
“Why don’t you show your face, you fucking coward?”
“You know, I knew this was coming. I knew this wasn’t over.”
“You are not alone, okay? We are all here for you.”
“He needs to realize the nineties is no time to play hero.”
“Why would anyone go back in that house anyway?”
“You’re lucky he didn’t kill you.”
“I think we have a copycat on our hands.”
“Do these guys have to follow you around everywhere?”
“How am I ever going to get you alone?”
“To be honest, I think it would probably be in your best interest to stay as far away from me as possible.”
“I hope that was an off-the-cuff remark that holds no subtext whatsoever.”
“I’ll take my chances.”
“I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“Come on, smile. Just once. Please?”
“I’ll smile when I catch the killer.”
“I’m not here to do your job.”
“He is a gemini, single, but I think he’s gay.”
“Penny for your thoughts?”
“I think I love you!”
“Why won’t you let me touch you?”
“I think you just need to deal with that and move on.”
“How do we find the killer? That’s what I want to know.”
“Let’s not move on. Maybe you are a suspect.”
“Well, if I’m a suspect, you’re a suspect.”
“That’s what reporters do! They stage the news!”
“If she’s not a killer, she’s a target.”
“I’m gonna do what any rational human being would do, and get the fuck out of here.”
“I wanna report the news, I don’t wanna be the news!”
“I need you. I cannot do this without you.”
“Let’s go get killed!”
“I’m a fighter.”
“None of us can avoid our fate, but as an artist, you can honestly face it, and fight it.”
“How long have you been here?”
“I need to be alone right now, okay?”
“Do I get a say in this?”
“The killer’s trying to finish what was started.”
“I’ll be back when you start talking about something a little more Saved By the Bell-ish.”
“What do you wanna do, bonehead?”
“Want to wait here and see who drops next?”
“I’m not interrupting anything, am I?”
“Have you ever felt a knife cut through human flesh and scrape the bone beneath?”
“No matter how hard you try, you’ll never be the hero and you’ll never, ever get the girl.”
“Where’s your innovation? Why copycat two high school loser-ass dickheads?”
“This isn’t a good time.”
“Come on, you sent me to prison. You can give me two minutes.”
“There’s been enough exposure. Why would you want anymore?”
“Yeah, I bet you’re real sorry.”
“There was no attack. We were talking, very heatedly.”
“I don’t know about homicide but you’ve definitely got me for raising my voice in a public library.”
“It should’ve been me.”
“Stop treating me like glass. I’m not going to break.”
“Until you find me standing over a body with a knife in my hand, I think you’d better treat me with the rights and privileges afforded to every innocent citizen in this country.”
“Enjoying the show?”
“I just wanna find this fucker!”
“Now we’re getting somewhere.”
“I never meant to hurt you.”
“Stay here!”
“There’s no one there.”
“When this is all over, I’ll still be here.”
“I wanna know who it is.”
“I’m going back.”
“Stupid people go back. Smart people run.”
“We’re smart people, so we should just get the fuck out of here.”
“I’m sick of running!”
“If we know who it is, it’ll be over.”
“Get away from me!”
“This isn’t what it looks like!”
“Shit, who tied these? We gotta get out of here!”
“The killer, he’s here!”
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
“You really wanna trust your boyfriend?”
“Don’t you know history repeats itself?”
“Surprise, [name].”
“Thanks a lot, partner.”
“He’s crazy! You know me better than that!”
“What do you think? Experiencing some déjà vu?”
“I AM GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!”
“YOU ARE DEAD!”
“I never would’ve hurt you.”
“You should really deal with your trust issues.”
“Oh! So vulgar!”
“Did he let you talk to him this way?”
“He was a sick fuck, just like you.”
“No. He was a sick fuck who tried to get away with it. I’m a sick fuck who wants to get caught.”
“I’ve got my whole defense planned out.”
“I’m gonna blame the movies.”
“I’m an innocent victim.”
“You’re a psychotic.”
“That’ll be our little secret.”
“See? It’s all about execution.”
“You’re forgetting one thing: I fucking killed him.”
“You piece of shit!”
“You got a Linda Hamilton thing going on. It’s nice. I like it.”
“Nice twist, huh? Didn’t see it coming, did ya?”
“It’s called a makeover; you should try it.”
“I’m very sane.”
“You’re never gonna get away with this.”
“Not wise to patronize me with a gun.”
“Don’t you FUCKING MOVE.”
“I have had a very, VERY bad day, and I would like to know exactly what the FUCK is going on here.”
“I can still help you.”
“Let me kill her!”
“Personally, I think it’s rather poetic.”
“No, don’t you listen to her!”
“Quite a predicament you’re in.”
“Give me the gun.”
“I want you to know I would never, ever do anything to hurt you.”
“We should probably talk about what exactly happened here, you know? Get our stories straight.”
“I’ve been shot!”
“Jesus, you scared the crap out of me!”
“You’ve got more lives than a cat.”
“They always come back.”
“How’s it feel to be a hero?”
“I’m back.”
“I’m coming with you!”
“I can’t believe you’re alive!”
“It’ll make a helluva movie.”

“Where do you get this shit?”
“ W hat ? ‘s not shit ––– just interestin’ stuff. ” there’s a tone that borders defensive that spews from rose caught lips, fingers brush alongside the few dozen files that rack her bookshelves, discretely hidden in between paper backs while an exhale of breath is made evident into cool air. there wasn’t much else to be said on the matter, especially in the eyes of blue –– she didn’t want to get into any more trouble. “ i get ‘em from my mom. y’know, she’s the lady who deals with it ? well, she doesn’t know much ‘bout it, but i always return ‘em. ” there’s a smile on her lips now, a change in stance from moments prior, slouched against mentioned shelf. “ anyway, ‘s always fun t’ learn ‘bout death … ‘specially if it helps with somethin’ larger. ”

blythestethics:
“Did you really call the police?”
“My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me!”
“You’ve seen one too many movies!”
“Movies don’t create psychos. Movies make psychos more creative!”
“No, please don’t kill me, Mr. Ghostface, I wanna be in the sequel!”
“Should I let the machine get it?”
“Are you alone in the house?”
“You bitch, where the fuck are you?”
“Not so fast, we’re going to play a little game.”
“Guess who just called the police and reported your sorry motherfucking ass!”
“I think I’m dying here, man!”
“I’m going to rip you up, bitch!”
“What’s your favorite scary movie?”
“I’m gettin’ another beer, you want one?”
“I’ll be right back!”
“Do you like scary movies?”
“No, you listen to me you little bitch! You hang up on me again and I’ll gut you like a fish!”
“Mmmm… corn syrup. Same stuff they used for pig’s blood in ‘Carrie.’ ”
“Oh, my God. I thought you were dead.”
“I never thought I’d be so happy to be a virgin.”
“Who’s there?”
“You tricked me.”
“I wanna see breasts.”
“We all go a little mad sometimes.”
“The police are always off track with this shit! If they’d watch Prom Night, they’d save time! There’s a formula to it. A very simple formula!”
“EVERYBODY’S A SUSPECT!”
“If you were the only suspect in a senseless bloodbath - would you be standing in the horror section?”
“She was never attacked. I think she made it all up.”
“The girl has some serious issues.”
“What if she did it? What if she killed them?”
“Maybe she’s a slut, just like her mother.”
“Teen suicide is out this year and homicide is a much healthier, therapeutic expression.”
“Where do you get this shit?”
“But this is life. This isn’t a movie.”
“It’s all a movie. It’s all one great big movie. Only you can pick your genre.”
“If I’m right about this, I could save a man’s life.”
“How do you - gut someone?”
“It’s called tact, you fuck-rag.”
“It’s the millennium. Motives are incidental.”
“Well I don’t really believe in motives. I mean, did Norman Bates have a motive?”
“See, it’s a lot more scarier when there’s no motive.”
“You’re not a virgin. Now you got to die. Those are the rules.”
“This game is like a scary movie. How do you think it’s going to end?”
“What’s the matter? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Fairness would be to rip your insides out and hang you from a tree so we can expose you for the heartless, desensitized little shits that you are!”
“I will totally protect you. Yo, I am so buff, I got you covered, girl.”
“There’s always some stupid bullshit reason to kill your girlfriend.”
“That is so sexist. The killer could easily be female. Basic Instinct.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“It’s all part of the game. It’s called, GUESS HOW I’M GONNA DIE?”
“Who am I? The beer wench?”
“Looks like we’ve got a serial killer on our hands!”
“ ‘Serial Killer’ is not really accurate. Gotta knock off a couple more to get that title.”
“If I may say so, you are much prettier in person.”
“I didn’t kill anybody.”
“You still haven’t told me your name.”
“I want to know who I’m looking at.”
“I thought she was dead.”
“How does it feel to be almost brutally butchered? People want to know. They have a right to know! How does it feel?”
“I am two seconds away from calling the police!”
“They’ll never make it in time.”
“Wait, I thought we were going to go out.”
“Don’t hang up on me.”
“I told you not to hang up on me.”
“Why can’t I be a Meg Ryan movie? Or even a good porno.”
“You’re not supposed to be here.”
“Why don’t you wanna talk to me?”
“Well, you’re not going to be alone any more, right? If you pee, I pee. Is that clear?”
“It’s called subtlety. You should look it up.”
“Just think - if they make a movie about you, who’s gonna play you?”
“It’s so sad. Her mom and dad found her hanging from a tree limb, her insides on the outside.”
“I always had a thing for ya, [NAME]!”
“Cut Casper, that’s a wrap!”
“What do I have to do to prove to you that I’m not a killer?”
“Can you see me right now?”
“You make me so sick. Your entire havoc-inducing, thieving, whoring generation disgusts me.”
“Don’t freak yourself out, okay? We’ve got a long night ahead of us.”
