Not a hot take but a genuine question I need to know if I'm crazy for? Did early 2000's cartoons learn that Egypt is in Africa and decided every black character needed to have some connection to Egypt instead of the many other countries in Africa???

Like in Tutenstein (2003) and Danny Phantom (King Tuck, S2E15) have two character just being somewhat affected or teaming up with someone form ancient Egypt.

But Libby (Danny Phantom 2004) and Erwin (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy 2001) are straight up RELATED EGYPTIAN ROYALTY

looking back on danny phantom and beginning to realize why i never took vlad that seriously as an antagonist. like a glitch in time really cracked it open for me.

he is a 40 year old man but he is also a category 5 failgirl having a two decade long Mental Health Moment. his hobby is feeling really stupid about a thing he did and then doing it again five days later. he fumbled so hard he almost destroyed all of reality. like on accident.

There's a lot of evidence in the show to suggest that both maddie and jack grew up in rural farm areas.

Jack talks about growing up in a cabin, Maddies sister criticizes her for growing soft since moving into the city and marrying Jack. Etc.

That means both Jazz and Danny are first Gen city kids.

And all of the loud shouting and lack of regard for neighbors that you see both his parents partake in, well thats all pretty normal if you grew up in an area where your nearest neighbor was a half a mile away.

My guess is the elder Fentons never fully adjusted to being around a lot of older people.

Also you can't convince me that some of their tech isn't the most repurposed, jangled, improvised, redneck shit you've ever seen.

There's even fucking duck tape on that ^^^^

But going back to Jazz and Danny being First Gen City kids also explains A LOT omg.

Also it opens up a lot of interesting dynamics I dont really think got explored much.

#thing I both love and hate about this show is how many nuggets of lore there is that never get properly expanded upon #not that every little thing needs to be explained outright in detail but- #this is a take you'd only have if you watched the whole series several times over and know the plot beats by heart #and are able to focused more on the background details you tend to overlook when watching casually #we already know about maddie's redneck sister- but theres also that weird line jack has in the first episode #something about a fallout shelter for a war that...was not happening at any point during his childhood #I believe the cold war was already over by the time jack was a kid

I know the girlies are just having fun and I really don’t have any actual hate for it, but as a Batman fan with the Danny phantom tag black listed I do feel a spiritual connection to the Danny Phantom fans who have the Batman tag blacklisted

just got back into do because of agit and saw your post about vlad having bpd from a while back and god. yes. hi. hello. agit was such a breath of fresh air after the series progressively tried to flatten vlads character, because hes always been soooo bpd to me (i also read him as bipolar. im very mentally ill myself so i tend to project but also it just feels right). to me it feels like vlad was always a person who worried about things like control or attention, the kind of person who feels like if his friends hang out without him then hes being abandoned (kind of guy who hears “im not really in the mood to hang out” and hearz “i hate you and i dont want to see you”), and it was made a hundred times worse by the incident with the proto-portal, which left him traumatized and physically ill for so long.

basically all his anxieties were validated when he was left behind, and he ended up doubling down for a while, like if he just secludes himself and doesnt conmect with people he cant be abandoned again, but it just didnt work and he NEEDED people, needed somebody around to give him positive attention and listen to him and validate his existence. and because he would literally rather die than go to therapy, his desperation led to further negative behavior until he ended up pushing everybody away, which made things worse and turned into this ugly cycle. i am obsessed with mentally ill coded villains who destroy their lives and finally have to come to terms with how much they fucked up

Wow, i didn't expect to get a message like this but glad to know you enjoyed/related to that post i made a while ago about that headcanon! Honestly i don't know much about bpd to say this character has x thing but it looked to me very similar to how Vlad acts in the series.

Like you said here, yeah, applying this idea it is something that Vlad would have since he was young and it got really bad after the proto-portal accident, making him become obsessed with being in control. He wants to have people that care about him but at the same time he is too scared of being hurt again or being left behind that he *has* to be in control. I just hope that after realizing his problems in AGIT he tries looking for some professional help, he really needs it if he wants to move forward.

And same, i really like antagonists and villains who suffer from tons of issues and end up falling and falling down more until they realize how deep they have gotten into. One of the reasons i like Vlad so much as a character.

I find it funny that the series tries painting Vlad as some sort of Lex Luthor villain but in reality he is more of a sad wet cat pathetic manchild.

#I think they tried to make him more edgy in season 3 but it just came off as him having a weird mental breakdown that was otherwise- #completely ooc for him #Like if he was always that off the cuff since season 1 it wouldnt be as bad but. It felt more like end of series flanderization #the escalation between 'pathetic old man who holds petty grudges and fights a 14 year old' to 'trying to also kill him too' wasnt earned #I left out him trying to kill jack but at least jack is a grown ass man who can defend himself

#I can see it being treated as a slur to some ghosts- but without any historical context its hard to determine #Like I highly doubt Sidney- aka the first and possibly only person we hear the term from in canon- would purposely call Danny a slur #I feel like a kid who literally died as a result of his bullying wouldnt resort to flinging slurs around #Regardless it is a really interesting topic for world building... #if there were halfas before plasmius and danny then this would help determine how offensive it could be across the board #but as far as we currently know there isnt- though the idea of ghosts coming up with a new slur that only applies to 1 or 2 ghosts is funny #*invents a whole new slur to yell at this blue asshole we dont like* #I love seeing how other half ghosts ocs react to the term #sorry for the tag rambles op
