Tarhun goes hunting!
Tarhun’s white scales glistened in the sunlight, and as he and the mystic travelled further, the trees began to thicken as nature began to envelop them. The mystic turned to look at Tarhun, as his almost translucent skin began to shine. Finally, the mystic tiefling begins to say
“Our journey has been quite long, yet I have seen much prey as we walked, why do we continue?” he said in a confused way
“You gotta get to your good hunting spot before you start! And besides don’t worry, were almost there, you just gotta trust me, have I ever led you astray?” Tarhun says in a reassuring way.
“Quite often, yes, this would not be the first time you got us lost Tarhun” Tarhun gives the mystic a disapproving look as he finishes his thought, before ushering him to a small shack in the middle of the trees. Particular care had been taken to cover this shack in dirt, grass, anything to allow it to blend in with the climate around. As they approach, Tarhun turns to the mystic and hands him a bow as he says
“Alright, I promised I’d take you to hunt, so get in here and we can start waiting”. The mystic walks in and promptly sits down and crosses his legs.
“What are you doing?” Tarhun says bewilderedly.
“I’m hunting of course! You were right, this is quite invigorating!’ He said with an odd sense of bewilderment for a man who was simply sitting on the floor.
“Uh, okay” Tarhun says, still not satisfied with the odd way he was acting. After this odd exchange Tarhun props his bow up and begins to search for game. It takes several long minutes as Tarhun continually looks around the forest waiting for a deer to arrive, but eventually, he spots a big healthy deer elegantly prancing through the forest, stopping to sniff the flowers as well as enjoy the nature.
“Bingo” Tarhun thinks to himself. He goes to unleash an arrow from his bow, however, before he does, something extremely concerning occurs. The deer looks to have extreme pain as it falls over, and then an indentation on its skull appears as blood begins to flow out. Tarhun begins to panic, worried that their may be a more powerful beast in these woods or if that was a person who might not be so friendly. As he has this frantic internal dialogue of what could have possible happened the tiefling exclaims,
           “Whew! That was amazing!”
“Keep it down! I think we may not be alone!” Tarhun shouts aggressively to try and keep his and the mystics cover.
“You would be most correct in thinking that! There are two more deer in the area, but you just alerted them of our presence unfortunately” the mystic says nonchalantly.
“Wait, how did you know there was a deer in the first place? You’re not in a position to see outside of this shack” Tarhun continues confusedly.
“Oh, I am sorry, I forget that not everyone have been dubbed with the powers I possess, you see, I was able to detect those animals simply by using my magic, and as such, I used my magic to overwhelm the mind of the deer I presume you saw, causing its life to end” the mystic goes on enthusiastically about his kill.
“Whew, that’s a relief” Tarhun lets out before becoming annoyed that his friend used what he felt was an easy way out for hunting “Don’t you know that you’re only supposed to use weapons when you hunt?”
“Well my mind is as much a weapon as your bow” the mystic says defensively.
“Well, part of the thrill of hunting is the chance of failure! When you use something like that the animal has no chance of escape or fighting back, it ruins the whole point!” Tarhun continues on.
“Oh, it appears I did not understand the proper hunting protocol, for this offense I apologize” the mystic says. This is about the hundredth time Tarhun has heard something to this affect, and he will probably hear it again. Tarhun would never admit it, but there was something endearing about teaching the mystic about all the nuances and social conventions that the mystic had never gotten to learn, due to his years in isolation and psychic training. It made Tarhun feel as if his god were smiling down from above, as helping those who are lost find there way, even in small situations like this, made all the difference. He looks over at the mystic and smiles, before grabbing his bow and saying
“That deer should be enough for everyone back home for the day, and we shouldn’t risk getting seen”
“Of course” The mystic responds as he walks over to the deer to help Tarhun carry it back. As they carry it back Tarhun begins to think that maybe he should teach the mystic how to cook too. There’s no telling what kind of hell he could cause by trying to use his mind powers on that. Tarhun chuckles to himself at the idea.

Rolen and Pleurotus Discuss Books
Rolen walked into the base’s library, books meticulously lined up at Nyx’s request. He notices Pleurotus furrowing his brow (or the Warforged equivalent anyways) at a book with what appears to be written in Infernal script. Rolen then walks up to Pleurotus and rests his head on Pleurotus’s shoulder before loudly saying
“Hey big guy! Whatcha reading?” Pleurotus immediately jumps a little bit, causing Rolen to move back.
“Rolen you mustn’t sneak up on me like that, I feared we were under attack” Pleurotus mustered out with no emotion.
“Oh relaaax, I’m sorry about it, but anyways, what’s this weird book you’re reading?” Rolen continues questioning.
“This book details the spells that various demons and dark deities may use to manipulate and harm those in their way. I feel that by absorbing this information our survival odds may go up.” Pleurotus states in an absent tone of voice, obviously focused on the book in front of him.
“You’re always reading stuff like that here, haven’t you considered reading something for fun? Maybe like a story book? Or WAIT you definitely seem like someone who would like detective books!” Rolen continues in an excited tone.
“Time spent reading subjects like that is time wasted that could be spent on more productive activities, I need to reach my full potential in order to ensure you and everyone else survive, Rolen” Pleurotus continues.
“But it’s not healthy! You know what they say about all work and no play right? I know you’re new to this whole being a person thing, but I really think you should try finding things you like doing instead of things you feel like you HAVE to do! And besides, we’re a team! What you don’t know we can!” Rolen says pleadingly to Pleurotus, leaning on him more with each word.
“You think my health may be improved by engaging in leisure? Interesting, perhaps I may try this, do you have any of these, story books, lying around by chance?” Pleurotus says finally sounding intrigued in something other than scholarly pursuits and physical training.
“Of course! I have two copies of this book I’ve been wanting to read actually, because I wanted to read it with a friend! This works out perfectly!” the high elf continues excitedly.
“Let us start reading it together then” Pleurotus says, pulling out a chair for his high elf friend. With a flash of a smile Rolen grabs the two copies of the book off the shelf and hands one copy to Pleurotus, he then sits next to Pleurotus and places his hand on Pleurotus’s leg.
“This was an optimal solution to my leisure problem Rolen, thank you for this” Pleurotus states in his first nonmonotone voice of the day.
“Of course, Pluto!” Rolen said as the two of them started to silently read together and enjoy each other’s company.
