Kill Me (Mikasa offing Dawk)

Even after Eren’s trial, there were still plenty of people convinced that he was too dangerous to be kept alive. That’s why Commander Erwin had brought the heads of both the Military Police and the Garrison out here, where Hanji was currently experimenting with Eren’s titan form — to try to convince them that the valuable information gained from the titan shifter would be far greater than any that Eren could possibly do.

But something went wrong. Eren lost control. Hanji already set down some emergency procedures in case something like this ever happened, but Nile Dawk, chief of the Military Police, decided to take matters into his own hands.

Humanity’s greatest hope, dead.

Her only family, dead.

Eren, dead.

That’s all Mikasa could think of, as she went running toward the man who had killed her brother, the opposite direction that everyone else was running in. She knew that Armin was yelling at her, telling her to stop, telling her to calm down and use her head, but she couldn’t hear him over her own cries.

She tackled Dawk to the ground, hysterical at this point, and started wailing away at him with her fists. “Why, why, why,” she screamed in his face, tears streaming down her cheeks. His mouth was moving. He was saying something, but no sounds came to her ears.

Off to the side she spotted his blades, fallen from his hands. As she reached out and picked one up, she could see Dawk’s eyes widen, and his movements became more frantic, but Mikasa had the advantage in position and could hold him down. There were red droplets on the blade, and they weren’t evaporating. It wasn’t titan blood, it was human blood. It was Eren’s blood, she thought.

Oh, how easy it would be to repay the man for what he had done. The life of a military division’s commander for that of a titan shifter… It was nowhere near an equal trade, she thought as she pierced Dawk’s neck with the blade, almost gleefully. The words coming from his mouth stopped, giving way to only screams and strange gurgling noises until the sounds stopped all together.

Some Military Police member was probably coming to kill her right now, to take revenge for their chief, or maybe even Armin was trying to fend them off to save her, but Mikasa sat still on the blood-soaked grass next to the man she had just killed, not even trying to think up an excuse. It didn’t matter anymore. Nothing mattered anymore…
