If you are trying to drive from Ramallah to Bethlehem — Palestinian towns in the West Bank (which Google automatically labels as “Israel”) — Google Maps won’t help you find your way.
But if you are in an illegal Israeli settlement right next to Ramallah and you want to drive to an illegal...

Gaza Youth's Manifesto for change
"Fuck Hamas. Fuck Israel. Fuck Fatah. Fuck UN. Fuck UNWRA. Fuck USA! We, the youth in Gaza, are so fed up with Israel, Hamas, the occupation, the violations of human rights and the indifference of the international community!
"We want to scream and break this wall of silence, injustice and indifference like the Israeli F16s breaking the wall of sound; scream with all the power in our souls in order to release this immense frustration that consumes us because of this fucking situation we live in...
"We are sick of being caught in this political struggle; sick of coal-dark nights with airplanes circling above our homes; sick of innocent farmers getting shot in the buffer zone because they are taking care of their lands; sick of bearded guys walking around with their guns abusing their power, beating up or incarcerating young people demonstrating for what they believe in; sick of the wall of shame that separates us from the rest of our country and keeps us imprisoned in a stamp-sized piece of land; sick of being portrayed as terrorists, home-made fanatics with explosives in our pockets and evil in our eyes; sick of the indifference we meet from the international community, the so-called experts in expressing concerns and drafting resolutions but cowards in enforcing anything they agree on; we are sick and tired of living a shitty life, being kept in jail by Israel, beaten up by Hamas and completely ignored by the rest of the world. "There is a revolution growing inside of us, an immense dissatisfaction and frustration that will destroy us unless we find a way of canalising this energy into something that can challenge the status quo and give us some kind of hope.
"We barely survived the Operation Cast Lead, where Israel very effectively bombed the shit out of us, destroying thousands of homes and even more lives and dreams. During the war we got the unmistakable feeling that Israel wanted to erase us from the face of the Earth. During the last years, Hamas has been doing all they can to control our thoughts, behaviour and aspirations. Here in Gaza we are scared of being incarcerated, interrogated, hit, tortured, bombed, killed. We cannot move as we want, say what we want, do what we want.
"ENOUGH! Enough pain, enough tears, enough suffering, enough control, limitations, unjust justifications, terror, torture, excuses, bombings, sleepless nights, dead civilians, black memories, bleak future, heart-aching present, disturbed politics, fanatic politicians, religious bullshit, enough incarceration! WE SAY STOP! This is not the future we want! We want to be free. We want to be able to live a normal life. We want peace. Is that too much to ask?"

redguard:
Four activists were forced to leave an art gallery in New York this month for wearing T-shirts with the title of the show they were viewing, “Next Year in Jerusalem,” by the German artist Anselm Kiefer, written in English, Hebrew and Arabic. One of the activists also posed for a photograph in the gallery wearing a shirt promoting an effort to include an American boat in the next blockade-challenging Gaza flotilla.
The incident came on the final day of an exhibition at the Gagosian Galleryfeaturing pieces on the subject of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.
As Claudia Roth Pierpont reported in an account of the incident on the New Yorker’s Web site last week, the gallery, on West 24th Street, called the police, and force was used to eject one bystander who asked the officers why the activists were being ordered to leave.

Today in Palestinian History, December 27
Tumblr media
December 27, 2008: Without warning, Israel launches an aggressive and inhuman attack on Gaza in an operation titled "Operation Cast Lead", a.k.a. The Gaza War. Israel stated the aim of the operation was to stop rocket fire form Hamas. Over the course of the 22 day assault (which ended on 18 January 2009), over 1,400 Palestinians had been killed - the vast majority were civilians and non-combatants. Most of Gaza had been razed to the ground.

$816 is a MAGICAL achievement already. I CAN’T EVEN. I don’t have the words. I didn’t even think I’d reach $50 when I first started. But I’m not going to keep on doing projects forever, so why not make this one THE BEST EVER? BUT there are only 8 hours remaining.
Think of it this way, that...

Mockingbirds
Together, they run forth In hopes to defend Crawling through the rubble to avoid the dead ends Shielding of the mothers on whom we depend Against the trampling bulls that intend to offend They battle. They battle. They battle.   With salted waters to nourish their soil, they replenish the horizon with greenery And deep is the green that heals their wounds That feeds off the life of the fallen tombs For it is only when the green is bare that the mockingbirds flock to the skies Their once coloured wings, grayed by the ashes of their groves And their tears muddied by the dust of their homes.   Beneath the blue skies, lies the golden home. And together, they pray. And inside this golden home, roam the peaceful sounds of the seventh sky. And together, they remember that within these peaceful sounds, their will is found, Eternally dancing to stay alive   Dancing to avoid the falling hail, their instrument is the endless stone Once smooth, no longer. Kicked around, it shows some tear Once shelter, no longer. Let it be a pebble for a mere moment to settle And heal its dancing soles   In day, the moon is restless unable to sleep from the thunder of the nights. And the night is clouded for she failed to shelter them under her blanket of stars. And the sun beams brightly, in hopes of exposing what she sees. And the earth, oh the earth… she is riddled with holes in her aching heart, as she covers them in their final sleeps.   She cries my dear child, she weeps in mourning and in pride. Mercy! Mercy on his soul and on his home Mercy on the mockingbirds that have flown Flown into the horizons amidst the silence Mercy on our hearts with the light of your guidance   And if the mercy is still amiss, then rid him of his senses and he shall no longer feel pain. No pain by those defenses behind the high fences while he lies in the trenches as he drenches in the rain, he shall feel no pain. And if mercy is still amiss, then shelter him from the blitz, from the drizzle of their bullets and the metal of their fists, where he shall feel no pain.   Unwilling to surrender to the wretched offender His eyes remain open, his vision stolen Awake to the nightmares in the moments beyond his last breath. A mockingbird emerged in the honour of his death Sleep my dear child and you’ll find your way Rest your body in her arms and let the sun warm you in the days. Let the night comfort you with the songs of the moon and soon, there will be rest.   Lima A. October 29th, 2010

Today in Palestinian History, November 29
Tumblr media
November 29, 1977:  The UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (resolution 32/40 B). On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine (resolution 181 (II)).
In resolution 60/37 of 1 December 2005, the Assembly requested the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and the Division for Palestinian Rights, as part of the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on 29 November, to continue to organize an annual exhibit on Palestinian rights or a cultural event in cooperation with the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the UN. It also encouraged Member States to continue to give the widest support and publicity to the observance of the Day of Solidarity. [Photo via]
