Yes! I mean don't get me wrong, I love my dads and totally appreciate them for letting me stay in their house for as long as I have. But I just need more room and this one that I'm looking at currently has enough room for me to have my own space and the furbabies will have their own space, plus room for guests. So we could totally have a sleepover if I'm able to work it out and it all comes through, though is it still a sleepover when your bestie ends up going to sleep in a different room? Anyway, I will totally appreciate any research help, for sure!

Thank you! While it may not be a similar instance, I do have things that are important to me in terms of owning my own place. Such as, will I be able to add onto it so that my cats can have a catio and be able to safely go outside. I know simply having a fenced in area would work for my pups, but cats can most definitely jump over a fence. As of right now, the place I'm looking to get a tour of does have a room that will be good for them all to just have their own space at least. But good points on the heater and electrical and all that too! I didn't even think of that, my first concern was the furbabies!

That's brilliant! Well done you. I had a laundry list of questions when I bought my place, but that's because it was meant to be my business and my home. Though, i can say, what I did ask was when the heater had last been replaced, if the electrical was up to date, and I was adamant about getting an inspection. You never know what's going on behind the walls!

See, I probably would have done the whole renting thing awhile ago if it weren't so darn hard to find a place that allows pets. I have my own furbabies, plus I foster from time to time, so being able to have pets is a big deal breaker for me. And sadly, mostly landlords have that no pets rule and so it was just easier to stay with my dads until I had enough saved up to put towards a down payment. But I will definitely share any tips and tricks that others give me! Also, welcome to the neighborhood!

Just moved to the area a few weeks ago sooo I'm living that rental life. Still haven't gone through the whole home ownership song and dance buuuuuuut I will love to hear whatever tips and tricks you pick up along the way.

Just think about it, big brother, you're only one year away from starting your 30s and I'll be there just a couple years after that! But yeah, I think you just having your apartment really suits you. It's more of a bachelor pad kinda style, which I think we all know that's very you. And trust me, I get the whole making sure you can afford it, this housing market is no joke! I was so overwhelmed when I first started looking, that's why I'm really hoping this place I found works out and isn't actually some kind of catfish house where I'm being scammed by the gorgeous photos and in reality it ends up needing a lot of work. That would totally crush my dreams.

Damn, my little sister just keeps growing up more and more every day. Which I know is how life works, but still, it's hella weird reading about you getting a whole house already! I still just have an apartment. Which I guess is okay, I don't really see myself wanting a house until our dads finally get their way and I've actually settled down with someone. As for the advice thing, uh... don't think I can help you there. My main requirement for my place was really just whatever I could afford at the time. On the plus side, though, it hasn't failed me yet.

Alright so not many people know about this, but because I finally have a decent amount of savings set aside and my dads also said that they'd put in a little bit themselves to start... I have been looking at getting my own house and I think I may have found the perfect place for sale! I'm still waiting to hear back from the realtor to set up a walk-through and go over all of the important details, but I'm really excited and I hope that it all works out! Any of you homeowners out there have any advice on what questions I should be asking and things to look for??

Would rather have 100 duck-sized elephants or one elephant-sized duck?

I kind of really love the idea of 100 duck-sized elephants, because maybe that would mean they could be pets and how cute would that be? A mini elephant as a pet?? Also think about how dangerous it would be if a duck was the size of an elephant, I mean elephant have big feet on their own but the size of duck feet on an elephant-sized duck, those could probably flatten more than an elephant foot would or so I'd assume.

Well, really there's a time for a classroom to be loud or to be quiet. I suppose though, because the quiet can be too unsettling after awhile, I would go with too loud.

Hadley: oh yeah, working at the vet's as a receptionist for awhile, volunteering at the shelter, owning 5 pets, and teaching kindergarten... I'm totally good with the whole making sure I clean up my own space and other spaces and all that, so that should be fairly easy for me. and I'm totally not even a monica, I'm more of a phoebe but definitely have the cleaning stuff down. Hadley: but yeah I can see it ending up as a bittersweet kind of thing, that does make sense. well I guess I've just gotta have that conversation with them and see how it all goes. I mean I haven't even got a place in mind yet not even sure if there are any houses for sale in town at the moment and all that. but thank you for the reassurance! even though I totally didn't mean to text you I still appreciate that you offered advice anyway!

Finn: totally! i mean i was so excited to have my own place where i could just do whatever i wanted. of course then i realized about a month in that i didn't have my mom to clean up the house anymore since my apartment was a total mess so that kinda sucked. but you know cleaning isn't totally awful so i'm okay now! your dads might be a little sad, but i think they'll be happy too. i think that's just how all parents feel when their kids move out. sad AND happy.

Oh wow, I'm so sorry Blaine! Definitely sounds like you need a fresh start and the comfort of your hometown, for sure. If you ever wanna hang out and talk more in depth, I'm happy to lend some time and an ear! Ah, yeah that makes sense then that it broke open, especially if the fall was from pretty high up. And of course, you can always count on me to be your glass half-full kinda friend! I don't think people in Bearcreek really would question much, except maybe much older people who probably never experienced much of a glitter-trend in their younger days like we have. I'm okay with most early 2000s trends, but I'll keep my hi-rise jeans. Plus they look cuter with the crop tops anyway. And I'm doing great! Teaching full time, volunteering at the shelter when I can, about to start finally looking for my own place. So many things! I'll have a lot more free time of course once the school year ends and honestly as much as I love my job and teaching kindergarten, I am so excited for summer!

I won't bore you with all the details, but my fiancé — or ex-fiancé, as I should probably call him now, ended our engagement pretty much out of nowhere a few days ago and now seems to be dating a good friend of ours. So I kind of fled the city as soon as my schedule allowed me to, as I just couldn't stand being there any longer. A change of scenery seemed like a good idea, so... here I am.

As for the glitter, it seems like a few containers broke open when the box fell, but I'm about 99% sure that it was mine anyway, so I've probably got myself to blame either way. And it's okay! It wasn't that bad, actually. Just different than what I expected. Thank you for your optimistic point of view, though - I really needed that. I was afraid that the average person in Bearcreek might think it would be a bit of an odd choice of mine to show up looking like a Twilight vampire on my very first night back here, but maybe I'm not giving them enough credit. We'll see how it goes! And I'm so here for the early 2000s trends coming back in general. But enough about me! How are you doing?

But you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. I'm sorry to hear that your first day back has been so eventful and messy, though! Well, my dearest Bearcreek, I’d say it’s good to be back - and it is - but I do wish the circumstances were different, not to mention that I expected my first day back to be a little less eventful than this. I’ve barely been here for half a day now and not only has the lady next door already filled me in on about five years worth of gossip in my first hour of being here, but I've also already been recruited by my mom to help out with the fundraiser she is apparently hosting tonight of all nights and I've managed to make a giant mess in my parents' basement by knocking over an old box, spilling an ungodly amount of glitter in the process and walking through it without realising. The result? Glitter absolutely everywhere, like a glitter bomb had gone off. I've managed to clean most of it, but I have a feeling that I'll be finding glitter in the most random places for weeks. So if you happen to run into me at Troubletones tonight, now you know that I'm not sparkling because I'm trying to impersonate Edward Cullen, but simply because of my glitter mistake.
