Can we talk about Tadaima, Okaeri?

I'm not going to get into a deepdive here (hopefully) but I'm watching episode 3 and I just want to know if anyone else is seeing what I'm seeing? So there's gonna be kind of spoilers for eps 1-3, but not really because I want to talk about one specific scene in ep 3.

I wish there were gifs up already, but I know that takes time, so we're gonna have to go mostly off description. Somewhere around the 12 minute mark we have the conversation between Hiromu and his dad. They're sitting in the the living room. Tell me how the ANIMATORS were able to convey that thing where when a character is confronting their parent as an adult they sort of feel like teenagers again?? In live action(?) media usually an actor conveys this through body language, like slouching and stuff, or if it's very intentional by the director for the story then they might slightly adjust the actors makeup. There's a bunch of different ways to go about it, but I'm not talking about them reverting to a younger version of themselves through the use of a different actor, I'm talking solely through acting.

I truly wish I could show examples. I'm gonna try with the gifs available. So looking at the gif below you have from left to right Hikari (clearly a toddler), Yuuki (a young adult/teen) and Hiromu and Matsuo (two adults) . You can see there's slight difference between how the adults are drawn and how Yuuki is drawn. He's a bit softer in the face, shoulders are a bit more narrow (though I know from this angle you can't tell that) but there's differences.

And even in the case of Hiromu and Masaki, even though Masaki is meant to be a smaller, more slender man (Yaoi tropes gonna trope) he still looks like an adult.

But in the moment where you see Hiromu talking to his father, he looks more like a young adult/teen version of himself. It's so subtle, but it's there. I already know that animators are insanely talented and that show creators pay attention to detail so well, but I was truly blown away by this very small detail.

If I can find good images to help demonstrate, I'll update this post, but until then I would definitely encourage watching the show. It's very cute. I'm not the biggest fan of omegaverse in general, but when the story is good I can overlook the aspects of the trope that bug me, and the story here is good. It's quite fluffy and escapist (at least so far, I never read the manga, so lord knows what's in store) and just makes for a fun relaxing watch.

Who wants a disturbing (potentially) Star Wars thought way too early in the morning?

As part of a joke, in a TikTok video I saw the question posed "Do you think Chewbaccas have pecs/breasts or two rows of teats like a pig would have?" Now clearly this person didn't know the name of Chewbacca's species, but it seems like a fairly valid question, and I thought far too long over how a Wookie might lactate.

My process:

From what I understand about biology of mammals in general, they're engineered to have enough nipples to feed the general max number of 'young'. Humans have two and generally will have 1-2 babies per pregnancy without medical intervention. Naturally occurring triplets or quadruplets are incredibly rare. Other animals that tend to have only 1, but maybe 2 offspring at a time like cows and horses have four. Bears have six and most commonly have 1-2 offspring per pregnancy, but 3-4 is regularly observed. Other mammals with larger offspring sets like canines and felines, both domestic and wild have 8-10 and will often have more than two but less than ten offspring in a pregnancy.

Wookie's are fairly humanoid (as many of the Star Wars aliens are) and it seems that like a standard human they generally have one offspring per pregnancy, maybe occasionally twins, and even more rarely triplets and so on. So the likely answer is they have pecs or breasts.

However, I think a far more interesting option is the platypus style.

Wookie are quite furry and much like how Chewbacca carried C3PO on his back in Episode V, I imagine Wookie mothers carrying their nursing-age children in many styles of baby slings and them sucking milk from the tufts of hair within reach.

ok fun story time

so about a year ago, someone came into my work and asked if we sold any mr potato head toys. we did, and she told me that they were for the octopus at the local aquarium, because she liked to put the pieces in the holes.

fast forward, i had made plans to go to the local aquarium with a couple friends who were coming into town. i emailed the aquarium and told them that, and asked if i could bring the octopus a new toy. they said yes, she would love a shape sorter.

i went this week, and octopus was sleepin on the day i came but the biologists at the aquarium grabbed my email so they could send me pictures of storm playin w her new toy.

Like... I have an astigmatism and I have decent closer range vision. I would NOT be able to drive, which would be annoying, and doing anything that required focused vision for more than a few minutes at a time would be off the table. But I could watch TV, as long as it didn't require subtitles, listen to music which I enjoy, and read on my kindle if I jack the font size up to ginormous. I would however end the day with a migraine.

just out of curiosity bc some people I know with glasses can just go a few hours or a day without them and be chill but I need them on all the time or I’ll go crazy

Cha Eun Woo posted this for Moonbin's birthday and you should definitely go watch it and show it appreciation and love. I listen to A LOT of music, and it's rare to hear the emotions being expressed like this. Artists, performers, they're kind of trained or taught how to infuse emotion into their performances, to help pass that emotion onto the audience, it's part of what makes music a collective and universal experience. One that transcends language barriers and geo-political boundaries. And I thought that maybe the love and affection and grief that I was feeling was Eun Woo, until I remembered what day it is. For me personally I am in the about 2 week in between of my my parents deaths. The passed almost 3 years apart, separated by 10-ish days, and I forget sometimes, but my body, my heart, they remember, and so I'm pretty certain that the impact this performance had on me is directly related to my own mental/emotional state in this moment. But it is still a truly beautiful and fitting tribute to someone like Moonbin. I knew of him only peripherally really prior to his death, but it became incredibly clear by the reactions of fans, of other idols in the industry, that he was clearly a shining light of a person. To MJ, JinJin, Cha Eunwoo,  Sanha, and Rocky (if you ever happen to see this) I'm so sorry for this loss you've endured. It just absolutely fucking sucks. As someone who's experienced with grief not enough people just say that openly, but it fucking sucks.
