Hijabis Art Post
Just droppin’ artworks I did a while back which I also posted on my Instagram page (check it out!). Sometimes I like illustrating characters in fashion - I’d just go around browsing on Pinterest and I tend to stumble into a string of these fashionably awesome peeps in their trendy attires. It sometimes make me want to draw them y’know. I did made some recently of two women in hijabi fashion. I find it interesting that one could be both modest while at the same time looking sharp as heck with them sneakers and high button up dress.
Anyways, here are the artworks!

Really liking how it turned out with the overall pose, colors, etc. Hope you guys enjoy it too! :D

Isabelle from Animal Crossing Fan Art!
Hey y’all! actually posted this last month on my INSTAGRAM account in case you haven’t checked them out yet hehe. I honestly have yet to play New Horizon (cause I don’t have a Switch :’D) but I did play New Leaf on the 3DS way back when, it’s pretty chill. Isabelle of course is just freakin’ adorable! I decided to do a fan art of her as a human and yes, she’s playing the new Animal Crossing on the Switch. Anyways, had fun with this one hope you guys like it!

Supergirl Art Process
Hey guys! so I posted a Supergirl fan art post recently and I thought hey, maybe I should do a process post for Supergirl and dive into the steps of how I made it. I won’t be going in TOO in-depth but I’ll do my best to elaborate on each step. One thing to note is that I drew this digitally with Procreate using an iPad Pro, not traditionally with pen and ink. Okay, let’s jump right into it!
1. Sketching
Tumblr media
Of course like any other artwork, it started with an idea - and I had this idea of creating a fan art of a DC character and somehow I thought of doing Supergirl. So, I started brainstorming and sketching it, thinking of what pose I should make her be in - I ended up liking the idea of her just flexing her bicep, doing a power pose cause… she’s Supergirl, and she’s… super strong. Okay, I honestly didn’t do a lot of alternate poses, I just did one, and immediately liked it so I ended up just sticking with it xD Anyways, this is the preliminary sketch that I ended up with. I did it in a blue pencil sketch just so it’d be easier for me to do the inking later. The brush that I used is the default Derwent pencil on Procreate.
2. Inking (outlines)
Tumblr media
Next step, inking. So, once I’m happy with the sketch, or once everything is set in place and I’m at a point where I feel like I don’t need to add anything else, I’ll start inking using Procreate’s default Gesinski inking brush - I really like this brush, mostly cause there’s this texture feel to it and I also like how the thickness of the lines spread when applying pressure. It’s one of my favorite default Procreate brushes! (maybe I should make a custom brush someday).
3. Coloring (flats)
Tumblr media
After outlining the sketch, I then applied colors to it. My coloring process is pretty simple. I don’t have a painter mentality so I mostly just do flat colors or simple cell shaded style coloring. I sometimes play around with gradients but for this particular artwork I just stick with flat colors with no shading whatsoever. I did this by carefully selecting each part and just applying color to them - I separated each coloring area into different layers e.g. yellow hair layer, red cape layer, blue costume layer, etc. This is to make it easier if I were to make changes to the different parts of the coloring without affecting the other colors - also, it’s nice to be organized :D
4. Adding details
Tumblr media
At this point, I added a bit of detail onto the hair, the cape and her face. I applied some reds to her cheeks, lips and nose (I imagine applying make-up to her face, how would it look?). Also, we have blood running through our veins and sometimes it shows naturally on our faces, so applying some ‘blushing’ effect would make it more interesting.
5. Adding shadows
Tumblr media
This is the step where I feel like the artwork starts to pop off, giving it more depth. The way I did the shadows is by first establishing where the light is coming from (in this case, it’s coming from the top left), then from there I only apply darker shadows to the area I believe would have shadows (where it would make sense). The shadow is on a separate layer - which I set to ‘Linear Burn’ and dropping the opacity down to where I think would look okay. Where you put the shadows depends on where the source of light is, as well as your knowledge on where shadows should be casted (it also depends on the complexity of your illustration e.g. simple shadows for simplified drawings).
6. Highlights
Tumblr media
Now, aside from adding shadows, highlights can also help in giving ‘depth’ to your illustrations - making it feel much more three dimensional, like an object that’s actually placed under a source of light. In my opinion, it can help significantly boost an illustration, and helps make it pop off the page / screen.
7. Color grading
Tumblr media
At this point we’re pretty much done. But for extra icing on the cake (depending on the type of mood you’re looking for), you might want to do a bit of a color grading just to add a certain mood or tone to your overall illustration. In my case, I added a new layer on top of the artwork, give it a dark yellow color, set the layer to ‘Hue’ and drop down the opacity to 30%. It gives out this washed out color tone to it instead of having the overall color being too bright (keep in mind that I do have the option of applying a washed out color from the start but this trick is much more flexible as I could experiment with multitude of different tones / mood on a single layer). But this is ultimately an option and completely subjective. Some might prefer the overly saturated color instead of under.
AND THAT’S IT!
Hope it helps a little or at least gives a bit of insight into my art process. Thanks for dropping by and till next time! :D

Supergirl Fan Art
Tumblr media
Hey everyone! Just droppin’ a quickie art post :D it’s an artwork that I did sometime last month on DC's Supergirl! I’ve honestly haven’t done much of Superhero related fanart from both Marvel and DC - kinda wanna do more of it in the future. Like doing Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and the rest of the Justice League members. Also doing Wolverine or the rest of the X-men, that’d be dope to do! And of course can’t forget the Avengers or other Marvel heroes like Spider-man (heck, imagine doing all the Spider-man versions from the Spiderverse). *Writes in my virtual bucket list* Surely more to come! Also, will be posting a mini-process post for Supergirl :D

5 INSTAGRAM ARTISTS SHOWCASE (NOVEMBER 2020)
It’s time for another Instagram artist showcase! This time for the month of November! Like last time I’ll be picking 5 artists on Instagram - artists that I followed and love their work. Also like last time, this list won’t be in any particular order; artists on the top of the list doesn’t necessarily mean they are my most favorite. It’s not a ‘top 5’ artist list or anything like that. Each of these artists are great in their own way! And it’s also completely subjective so you may or may not like their work and it’ll still be completely fine :D So, here goes:
1.  Simone D'Armini (@buonaseraukulele)
Tumblr media
First up is Simone DÁrmini, an italian illustrator based in Edinburgh. His artstyle might not be everyone’s cup of tea - but it certainly is mine. I really like his artstyle and it really reminds me of Mike Mignola (of Hellboy comics fame)’s artstyle which I also LOVE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With that said, Mike Mignola focuses on simplicity while Simone’s work is a tad more detailed imo. But you can definitely tell he’s somewhat inspired by Mike Mignola (or maybe it’s a coincidence who knows). His linework is very loose and comic-ey (if that makes sense). It’s very cartoony and has a very dramatic lighting or contrast between black and white - completely black shadows with no gradients in between (though not all of his illustrations are like this). But seriously, his work is effing amazing! Love it lots. Check out his work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Øyvind Lauvdahl (@lauvdahl)
Tumblr media
Second on the list is Øyvind Lauvdahl. Not exactly sure how to describe this guy’s interesting work. If you look at his instagram feed, you can tell there’s a pattern there. Most of his illustrations depict this depressing looking character that does too much overthinking in life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every post he makes has this character either standing, sitting, mangled to different shapes and sizes, sometimes it’s just some parts of his face, hands, legs. Sometimes there’s a foreign element to them, like a dog, a bird, an inanimate object and so on. And literally every illustration he posted has a particular set of phrases or idioms, or quotes alongside it. They could either be very relatable to life (one could comprehend its meaning) or seems like complete nonsense xD (but surely has its meanings behind them). It’s definitely UNIQUE in terms of execution, and I love that he’s really consistent with them. He never stops, he just keeps going. I love it. Check out his work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Olivia Kemp (@livvykemp)
Tumblr media
Next, Olivia Kemp! She’s an artist from Britain and mostly does black and white work with pen and ink. Her work is amazingly detailed and complex - depicting this surreal environment or space that almost seems dreamy! She also does realistic portraits of people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I also really love is the fact that she sometimes makes them in this huge canvas which enables her to create very minute detail on each of them - you can admire them from afar to get the overall concept and then get a bit closer to look at all the tiny details and inks. I’m very fascinated with ink shadings since they are not really easy to pull off (or maybe I’m really bad at it xD). Check out more of her work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Ian McQue (@ianmcque)
Tumblr media
Next up is Ian McQue! He’s a concept artist / illustrator from Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He mostly does this incredible environment piece in the form of concept art. He does a mix of digital and traditional (pen and ink) illustrations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a dude who mostly does character illustrations, I suck at drawing environments and whenever I come across artists who do AMAZING environment work, I’m immediately a fan. If you look at his Instagram feed, he does a lot of futuristic and surreal environments that might not seem plausible (technically) like floating mechanical sailboats and houses that stack on top of each other that seem to defy the laws of physics. But who cares about whether it makes sense or not, doesn’t make it look less cool!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Will Murai (@willmurai)
Tumblr media
Finally, Will Murai, an illustrator based in California, United States. He’s also a senior illustrator at Blizzard Entertainment which says a lot! He does a lot of character illustrations but also amazing at drawing backgrounds with the characters in focus. He’s a mix of digital and traditional artist (pencil, pen and ink).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s work is nothing short of amazing! Really love his linework and the way he digitally colors / paints his work - ranging from badass characters to cute illustrations of animals with eastern aesthetics. I just freakin’ love his work :’) check out more of his work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s it for my NOVEMBER Instagram artists showcase!
Part of me loves going through the process of making these lists as it’s a huge inspiration to look at them, study them - just pumps me up to a certain extent. BUT at the same time, can’t help but feel sort of demotivated when you compare their work with your own y’know :’S but hey, gotta keep at it I guess. These same artists are beginners at some point in their lives which is a nice thought. Never give up!

Let’s Talk About Mario’s Design
Hey y’all! So, I did a character design fanart thing recently with our favourite Italian plumber - Mario. I decided to do it for Luigi and Princess Peach as well, I mean, why not right? So, okay, let’s talk about Mario’s overall design, he’s… a plumber, right? I mean, he looks like a plumber, he’s rockin’ that overalls. But, why does he go around living in Mushroom Kingdom, going through castles and saving Princesses? It just doesn't make any sense the more I think about it.
Tumblr media
I mean I would imagine he should be wearing medieval armor, carrying a sword, riding on a horseback - not wearing plumber overalls and jumping through pipes. I’m just saying it’s odd is all. I mean okay, yeah sure, he’s not just a plumber - he has been a carpenter, a doctor, a tennis player, a freakin’ go-kart racer, he even once teaches children typing - his resume is pretty interesting. Maybe, I’m overthinking this. He’s a video game character who happens to be a plumber that’s going through castles, stomping on Goombas, jumping through pipes and saving princesses. That’s how Shigeru Miyamoto wants him to be. He can do whatever he wants. It’s his creation.
Tumblr media
One thing about Mario though, he’s certainly unique in concept and execution. Think about it, imagine you’re in the 1980-90s, you have gaming mascots flooding the 8-bit and 32-bit console generation and you want to stand out from the rest. You have a blue hedgehog who’s on speed (Sonic), a cute little elf with a green tunic with a sword and a shield (Link), a pink blob of fat who can literally consume things and grab it’s abilities (Kirby), a blue bomber who runs, jumps and shoots pebble beams (Megaman) - then standing out of all the rest, a fat middle aged plumber with a beautiful moustache, running and jumping his way to save a damsel in distress. You wouldn’t think he’d be a successful mascot if you try to explain his design to people in theory.
You want something or someone that’s appealing to children. Every other mascot designs make sense - Sonic is angsty and cool, Kirby is kawaii, Link is a stereotypical hero character, Megaman is a badass android. Mario… he’s um… yeah. Now, you probably get what I’m trying to put down here.
Tumblr media
But it also helps that what children see 99% of the time back then is a tiny pixel of a man that barely resembles Mario in the cover. While children back then care to a certain extent what Mario looks like, what they really care about is how addictive the game is. The gaming environment that we have today is significantly different than how it was back in the day. Nowadays, what gamers want is far more complicated; Far more broad. It extends beyond just ‘playing’ the game, it’s important for a game to be balanced, to look good, feel good, play good, and even sound good. The gaming market back then is not as saturated as it was today.
Tumblr media
Bottom line is, Mario has a really unique design that I personally would not think it’d be a hit for children back then. But surely if I was born in the early 80’s, I’d be that same kid who would be ecstatic to gobble it up.

Peach the Mechanic (Fan art)
Hello guys! So, I posted Mario and Luigi fanarts so far, and I decided to add one more. So, we already have 2 plumbers, Mario and Luigi - to add to this duo would be a certain royalty of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach. She’s a bit different though. For Mario and Luigi, it’s pretty straight forward, they are supposed to be plumbers, ‘cause they actually dressed like one. Princess Peach is a different story ‘cause she’s literally a princess and she actually dressed like one. So, when I wanted to do a fanart of her, I decided to do a complete overhaul. Remove her royal blood, make her do a regular job. Initially I thought hey maybe she should be a plumber too, or perhaps become the CEO of the plumbing company that Mario and Luigi works in or somethin’... BUT I ended up turning her into a MECHANIC. Here’s the redesign:
Tumblr media
She’s a mechanic now and she’s the boss of her own company, Peach Motors. She works on cars, motorcycles and on the side, she also fix up Go-karts ;) Even make custom Go-karts for a certain client that doesn’t want to be named. There’s also an underground Go-kart racing happening around town, it’s not quite legal but 100% profitable for Peach Motors. Here’s a close-up headshot:
Tumblr media
Hope you guys like it! :D

Luigi the Plumber (Fan art)
Hey guys! We all know this is coming (since I mentioned it in the last post xD). So, I did a fanart redesign of Mario and of course I can’t do Mario without also making one for Luigi. So, here’s my Luigi fan art redesign!
Tumblr media
I did this with the same concept of ‘what if they’re actually plumbers?’ in mind, so nothing much to add to this xD. Here’s a close-up:

Guess who’s next :)

Mario the Plumber (Fan art)
Hey y’all! I did a thing! So, this design has been on the back of my mind for quite some time. I mean, it’s Mario, we all know Mario, Nintendo’s Goomba stomping mascot - he dresses up like a plumber but… he’s not really a plumber, is he? I mean, he goes through castles and saves the princess - sure he goes through pipes here and there but that doesn’t automatically make him a plumber, right? Anyways! Here’s my fan art:
Tumblr media
I thought, ‘hey, what if Mario was actually a plumber?’ and so I came up with this redesign. Being a plumber is actually his day job now - no stomping on goombas, no world hopping, no castles or saving princesses - he’s just a regular middle aged man named Mario who does plumbing with his brother (coming soon). Oh, here’s a close up:

5 INSTAGRAM ARTISTS SHOWCASE (OCTOBER 2020)
Hello beautiful and fabulous people! so I decided to do a list of Instagram artists that I‘m a fan of. Now, one thing I want to note is that this list is not exactly a ‘top 5’ list or anything, in other words, it is not in any particular order, so the artist that is on the very top of the list doesn’t necessarily mean that he/she is my most favourite or anything like that. Basically, I love these guys’ work, I don’t like picking favourites mostly cause it’s a headache to have to pick one or two favourites when all of them are awesome in their own way (or maybe I’m just lazy and tired to figure them out heheh). Alright! Let’s begin!
1. Patrick Brown (@patrickbrownart)
Tumblr media
Alright! First on the list is Patrick Brown. Now, he’s not necessarily an Instagram artist (not initially anyway) He has an Instagram account now which is nice, but I actually found out about him on Youtube where he actually did this tutorial thing many, many years back. He was actually in the back of my mind for quite some time, until I rediscovered his work on Instagram recently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His work is AWESOME! And surely to a lot of other cartoonists or illustrators out there as well, especially if you’re into character/comic book illustrations. Now, I know it’s subjective, like all things, but I do believe his work is awesome for one, the way he poses the characters are really fluid and dynamic, which I love. Second, his digital coloring and environment illustrations are also amazing! I mean, if you take out the coloring, and just keep the line art, it’s not going to pop off as much (to me at least), so it’s the way he digitally colors(shading and lighting) his characters and environments that boosts the quality of his work significantly. I specifically ADORE his splash pages/illustrations where there’s like tons of characters in one scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Roosh (@koteri.ink)
Tumblr media
Next on the list! Koteri.ink. I found his work on Instagram, I think probably over a year ago? And I have loved his work ever since. There’s something about his art style that I'm diggin’ so much. I especially love it when he draws humanoid animals (?) not sure if that’s the right way to describe it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has this successful Kickstarter comic (Kings of Nowhere) he’s doing and still producing new chapters at the moment. I haven’t read it but from what I’ve seen so far, and from the comic’s synopsis, it’s a pretty interesting concept! Really love the way he designed animals, and his anatomy game is freakin’ strong! Check out his work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Clayton Henry (@claytonhenryart)
Tumblr media
Third on the list! Clayton Henry. He’s an illustrator/comic book artist, at the moment he mostly does commission work for DC. If you check out his Instagram, his feed is filled with DC superhero illustrations like Batman, Superman, the Flash, etc. So, it may not be your cup of tea but he does post other works as well occasionally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I really love about his work is his art style and line work- especially his line work. Honestly, my own inking or linework is heavily inspired by this guy. Or at least, AT THE MOMENT (that’s why I don’t like picking favourites, cause it’s changing all the time xD). But I also love the way he traditionally colors his stuff using colored pencils. Something about it is just freakin’ great. I wish I could color my work traditionally like that. Maybe I can, I just need to start…maybe tomorrow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.  Ashley Wood (@ashleywoodart)
Tumblr media
Next up, Ashley Wood. His work is… it’s hard for me to describe it. It’s really paintery, consisting of brushes or strokes, it seems very conceptual sometimes - like they are unfinished but still looks f*cking amazing!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Besides oil painting, he also does sketches in the form of inks. I mean, it LOOKS like sketches, but they are not really? Again, it looks unfinished but I would still put it up on the wall, y’know. I actually found out about Ashley Wood from the work that he did on one of my favourite video game series - Metal Gear Solid. He did the graphic novel for MGS and his work was also showcased as an in-game comic-ish animation for the Playstation Portable’s MGS game called Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops (not the best MGS game, but pretty good for a handheld). I was really digging the whole conceptual or ‘sketchy’ art style that I looked him up online - and ever since then I’ve been a fan of his work. Seriously, check out his work! They are amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5.  Seung Eun Kim (@kse332)
Tumblr media
Finally, Seung Eun Kim. Man, going through this list just makes me feel bad about myself cause I have to look up their stuff and I keep thinking’ I probably won’t be this good. If this list is actually in order of the top being my ‘favourite’, Seung Eun Kim will be among the very TOP of this list. Just check out his work, this guy is among the greats when it comes to working in the visual development or concept artist industry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He works on animation, he was a former principal artist at Riot games (yes, THE riot games), he worked with Sony Pictures - if you look at his stuff, you can see him working on storyboards and stills of scenes from films. He can do realism as well as cartoon-ish art style but he mostly does realistic style than cartoons. He probably only does cartoon-style when he needs to (like if he’s part of a project that requires him to make them). If you want to get a taste of his work, just hop onto his Instagram page, it has everything from character illustrations, portraits, storyboarding, visual development/concept arts and more! I just… I can’t… I really love his work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s it for this October Instagram artist showcase list!
These are just among MANY other AMAZING artists on Instagram. There are a lot of amazing artists out there, I’m glad the internet exists so I could look them up and get inspired by them… or feel like shit cause they’re too good. But hey, you’re terrible until you’re not, so.
Thanks for stopping by!

WHAT IS INKTOBER?
Tumblr media
Some of you have probably heard of inktober, or perhaps it’s the first time you’ve ever heard of it. Now, what is Inktober? Inktober is an art challenge that happens every year in the month of October. It involves creating a black and white illustration, with ink, and then posting it online. The challenge here is that the participants would have to post everyday for the entire month of October - either using their own art prompt (their own original ideas) or the official art prompt from the Inktober website (more challenging).
What is an art prompt?
You might be wondering what exactly is an art prompt. Well, it’s basically a list of art ideas usually consisting of single words or phrases like so:
Tumblr media
Each day in the month of October, participants will have to come up with artworks or illustrations that link to the corresponding words or phrases. BUT, they could also come up with their own ideas if they so choose! It’s definitely more fun that way :D
How to participate?
There’s no barrier to entry. All you need is a good ol’ pencil, pen and paper, and you’re pretty much good to go! One of the benefits of joining Inktober is of course to improve yourself. Put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone by drawing something that you don’t normally draw.
Once you’re done with your artwork, you can post it online on your social media with the #inktober #inktober2020 hashtags - preferably on Instagram but you can pretty much post it on whichever platform that has the hashtag feature, OR if you don’t have social media, you can even just show it to your family and friends! Remember, the purpose of Inktober is to challenge and improve yourself, with or without an audience :)
Final thoughts
You don’t exactly have to post every single day, it’s more of a fun annual challenge that you might want to hop into just for fun y’know. It’s an opportunity to improve yourself since you would have to come up with something that’s outside your creative comfort zone. Especially if you’re following the official inktober art prompt by Jake Parker.
So hey! Let’s join in the fun! It’s already October, so check out the official Inktober art prompt or create your own and start drawing :D
OH! Also check out the official Inktober website for more information! There’s an entire FAQ section dedicated for those who are most curious :)

MASTER COMIC ARTIST: KIM JUNG GI
You know, one of the hardest things to draw as an artist or cartoonist is human anatomy - this includes drawing hands, feet, the face, etc - not only that, you’d have to draw them in multiple angles and making sure they don’t look off (by off I mean looking like hot crap). It’s pretty frustrating when it doesn’t turn out the way you imagined it in your head.
Surely, we all had those moments when we’d draw a character and we try to avoid drawing the hands by drawing the character with their hands in their pockets - of course, we would feel terrible afterwards ‘cause then we won’t be improving ourselves.
Anyway, I’m rambling.
WHO IS KIM JUNG GI?
Tumblr media
The artist that I’m going to be writing about now is KIM JUNG GI - as you’d probably know from the name, he’s korean. Kim Jung gi specializes in comic book illustration. He was born in 1975 and studied fine arts at the Dong-Eui University of Busan. And like all male koreans, he served in the military for 2 years and at this point in time is when he studied and memorized a huge library of vehicles and weapons to draw.
Tumblr media
This man is the master of anatomy. He could draw anything with minimal visual reference because everything is already in his head! He could draw humans, animals, buildings/architectures, vehicles, etc and not to mention he can draw them in various angles with ease. He’s also a master of perspective - being able to place any characters or objects in a scene and make them fit in seamlessly.
Tumblr media
It’s partly inspiring because it feels like if you work hard enough you can get to that level someday. But at the same time it’s SOUL-crushing to see him draw because it makes you feel like your work is not good enough - that it’s impossible to be THAT good. He could draw straight up on an empty canvas without laying a foundation sketch beforehand. The madlad immediately used ink and jumped straight to drawing/rendering.
Just look at this video:
youtube
All those little intricate details that he drew. All that just from the top of his head, with just a brush pen and nothing else. He’s crazy.
HOW DOES HE GET THAT GOOD?
I’ve watched tons of video interviews and did some research online, from reading forums and watching his workshops and live streams (yes, he does art streams - via facebook/Twitter/Youtube). And from what I’ve gathered, Kim Jung Gi has been drawing since he was very young. He just draws all the time. He specifically mentioned that he draws a lot during his early years at school and he admitted that he never did well academically but always has been ‘artistically talented’ as mentioned in his school reports.
Tumblr media
He also has a really great memory - less on information or texts and more towards images or visual information. Though with that said, he also draws ALLOT, like ALL the time, and of course the more you draw something, the better you get at drawing that thing (imagine drawing a motorcycle 100 times). So really, some people might say it’s pure talent, or it’s genetics, which is debatable. I believe a skill is mostly nurtured, it’s not just something that comes to you naturally. Kim also mentioned that none of his family members are remotely interested in the arts, so why did he? Where did that interest come from? In an interview, even he himself doesn't know the answer to that question.
Tumblr media
It’s probably a combination of both (nature and nurture). He has been drawing since he was a kid and never did anything else besides that. It’s already set in his mind from an early age that he wants to be a comic book artist and his passion never strays from that ever since. You know how some people have that ‘phase’ in their life - some have a music phase where they pick up the guitar and play it for a couple weeks, months or even years, and then they stop. Some have an art phase, or a cooking phase - it’s just a temporary part of their lives. For Kim Jung Gi, he never stopped wanting to be a comic book artist, it’s a skill that he nurtured ever since he was able to pick up a pencil, and perhaps yeah he also has a natural talent for drawing and recalling visual images in his head which helps a lot when you want to drawing anything and everything from memory. But I do believe it’s mostly due to the fact that he remained focused at doing that one thing for most of his life, which is being a comic book artist or cartoonist. He never wanted to do anything else. He spends most of his time everyday drawing and sketching.
CHECK OUT MORE OF HIS WORK
If you guys are interested in following or getting updates of his work, you can check out his YouTube Channel. He updates quite often which is nice. He also does livestreams too occasionally. Check out his Twitter account and Facebook as well.
Also check out one of his interview sessions by Prokko:

Thanks for reading!
