I don't agree with the whole Tom and B'Elanna would divorce posts going around (there is nothing that says they aren't together BTW and they still very much are in the comics at least so far) not because I think they are well suited. But simply because both have the biggest Daddy issues going.

B'Elanna would never want to be viewed by Miral the way she saw her own mother. So she'd stay with Tom rather than be accused of driving Miral father away. Tom would stay because he has mad Daddy issues and wouldn't want his daughter to hate him the way he does/did his dad.

So they very much would stick out the marriage simply for their daughter. Hell probably had a bunch more kids to see if it would fix their marriage.
