It's unhinged to assume that someone's taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.

That is a bonkers assumption to make.

I'm tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.

I'm tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold-- that they should be afraid of fiction's dire influence on a reader's moral decay or that it's a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.

While im on the topic of dark knights i love!!!!! Granson has never known a world without light!!!! Hes never had the joy of seeing snow before!!!! Much less being snowed in!!!!!!!!!

He hates this. Wtf. Its not only cold, which sucks severely for a dude in plate, but also its wet, AND snow is a pain in the ass to move through???? This sucks actually. Sign him tf up for bundling up inside and Not Dealing With That.

Granson isnt any better than Sid at being idle, but thankfully growing up in the Crystarium has instilled in him a bunch of useful time-consuming hobbies. 100% a fabric craft girlie. This man has everything from a spinning wheel to a loom to one of the Crystarium's proudest inventions: the pedal sewing machine.

(Its a hobby he inherited from his former fiance. Theres a small smile on his face, even as he unsnarls thread or picks a seam, and you know its her hands guiding him every step of the way.)

I adore the fact that you include Sid by default in you headcanons is amazing for DRK lovers(finally some good food™️) And if you’re still taking requests could I request Sid(and whoever else of your choice!) with being snowed in? Im picking my way through the story very slowly so i dont know who zero is yet but i can slap that on in a reblob when i meet her?

The thing about Sidurgu is that hes not used to being allowed to be snowed in. Rare was the day much less the week that he and Fray could afford to be idle, doubly so after they took in Rielle (triply so after Fray died). Days of heavy snow or even blizzards usually meant days of helping to keep the loading bay of the Forgotten Knight shovelled, of helping bar staff and patrons find their way home if all the rooms were full up, of dealing with the monsters that the Temple Knights wouldnt dare brave the weather to go handle themselves.

But being associated with the warrior of light does have its perks, and for the first time in a long time Sidurgu is experiencing something close to financial stability. He doesnt have to go out in the blizzard if he doesnt want to. The only real problem is that he. Doesnt really know what to do with himself. Hes not used to being idle.

Rielle. Helps. In that she gives him something to focus on for bursts of time. But between her conjury training and the fact that she is a child who recently went through some intense trauma and so she sleeps a lot, that leaves Sidurgu with long hours and nothing to fill them. He tries cards, for a bit. Triple Triad. If hes snowed in with a few of his... Friendlier. Acquaintances, they might pass the time like rabbits.

Eventually tho is need to get up and move gets the better of him. He shovels the loading bay for the Forgotten Knight. He walks bar staff home (but not drunk patrons, unless he likes them). He checks in with the Temple Knights, but unless he knows he can leave rielle with someone trusted for a day or two he wont go out to deal with it.

(At some point tho you do point Stephanivien in Sidurgu's direction, to introduce Sid to the wonders of the craft and forge, and its over for him)
