(she/her) I'm 21, this is a bugblr for mindless-insight. I am totally spider obsessed and I like other bugs too! I have two male Madagascar Hissing cockroaches as pets! (got them 10.25.17)
Xyleutes persona (or similar. Cossidae).
One of the heaviest moths I’ve ever held..!
If you reblog this, please take care to tag it as “moth” and “insect”. I’d like to receive as few “kill it/stomp on it/light it on fire” comments as possible. Thanks!
(also please be sensitive to the fact that entomology is enjoyed and pursued by people of all cultures and colors.

Flower Crab Spider mimics flower to attract preys by Andreas Kay
Via Flickr:
watch the VIDEO at rumble.com/v4g8rv Flower Crab Spiders (Family Thomisidae) do not build webs to catch their prey, instead, they are ambush predators. They usually sit motionless in flowers and grab visiting insects such as bees, flies or butterflies with their crab-like front legs. Some species can even change color to match the flower they are on. But this species with the scientific name Epicadus heterogaster from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador can be found on green leaves and mimics itself a flower by reflecting ultraviolet (UV) light, just as flowers do, in order to attract pollinating insects. Even its movements are jerky, like a flower swaying in the wind. It produces silk for safety lines, but in this video it gets somewhat entangled into its own silk.
biosteria The Black Prince cicada is a common cicada species found throughout Australia’s Eastern Coast during summer! The nymphs live underground for 7 years until they reach this stage. Some years there will be more cicadas around than others but they do emerge every year. They prefer emerging near lakes or freshwater rivers and they feed on sap. Here you can listen to their interrupted call which they sing when it isn’t very hot. When the weather becomes warmer, their calls also change into continuous ones!

Okay so the other day I was taking the trash out and my nail caught on a spider egg sac!
Unfortunately it split open and all the little eggs came tumbling out and luckily landed in a box.
After getting them all in a glass, I was left with several questions, no answers and guilt! But I asked in a few spider groups and got a tutorial on making a spider incubator!
