disgracedvessel:
“Help!”       A reluctant shout of distress, the hesitancy dampening its loudness as pride restricted him. It had been a feat in itself that he had even made the call to begin with, having debated with himself for up to an hour now. Or so he thought, judging by the shifting of the shadows in the forest. The sun was nearing the horizon now, and bathed everything around him in a soft, orange hue. With the babbling of a river nearby, the sparkle of dust and flitting insect wings in the rays of light, and the mossy, fallen logs, it was a picturesque scene. And one which he might have better enjoyed had it been under any other circumstance.       Straining his ears, he listened carefully to the wood, but no one answered. Not even a branch cracked with the approach of footsteps. As he expected. Who would find him out in the middle of nowhere like this? Carefully, hissing through his teeth as he shifted his weight, he lowered to get a better look at his ankle. Blood already soaked through the tears in his boot where the trap had closed its teeth, and he had long since lost feeling in his foot, but it was still intact. As far as he could tell, anyway. The pain had subsided and an eerie numbness took its place - as long he didn’t move, that is - and he inched his fingers down to determine how deeply the metal teeth had pierced him.       However, the touch incited a shooting, stinging pain again and he inhaled sharply. Deeper than he thought, he realized, and his blood ran cold at the thought of losing his foot entirely. To infection, to free himself, to a healer’s poor technique. He could possibly even die out here. His vision swam and he found it difficult to maintain his balance as his head grew fuzzy.       No—!       He willed himself to focus his eyes, to hold onto consciousness. Dying to a mob was far more preferable to this. Julius of Velthomer, Imperial Prince, vessel of the Dark God Loptyr, could not fall to a mere trap. It hardly befit his reputation.       “A-anyone?”       But it seemed that it would be his fate after all.
Ishtar had been walking in the forest. It was something that she had decided to do on a whim, wanted to have sometime for herself with no one else around. After the war she had completely shut herself off from everyone but the few that she could believe she trusted, and though she was getting better now, at times she still just wanted to be alone.
Which is partially why she missed the first time someone shouted in distress.
The second time the person called out, she had wandered close enough to hear him. She thought the voice sounded familiar, but after she couldn’t place it (wouldn’t let herself place it), she brushed it off, thinking that it was just someone she had heard from a distance at some point but never actually talked to.
She wasn’t one to ignore someone injured despite her... lack of ability with healing staves (something she really needed to remedy and soon), although she did have enough basic medical knowledge to at least tide someone over until they were able to find a healer.
She spent the short walk over to the injured person wondering what state they were in and hoping that they wouldn’t be in too bad of a state, but all those thoughts flew out of her head when she saw who it was.
It wasn’t like she hadn’t known he was alive. She had heard the rumors, had been flat out told when others found out. But that didn’t prepare to finding her former lover injured in a Grandbell forest.
If it had been anyone else, she would have rushed up to them and taken stock of their wounds, but all she could do upon seeing him was stand there in shock. “J-Julius?”

{*laughs nervously*
Well the weekend sucked all of my strength out of me and I'm just now getting it back, but I really will be getting back to replies and things tonight. Sorry...}
{I’m really sorry for being MIA the last week or so, Echoes kind of decided to take over my life. I’m finished with my first playthrough now however, so hopefully things will pick up a tiny bit soon. I should be able to do some things tomorrow afternoon.
If you’re wondering if I’m going to pick up a Valentia muse, I’m not sure. There’s a couple characters I love, but I just don’t know at the moment, would have to look a little closer at characters.}

What's Ishtar's idea of a perfect date?
(Sorry it took so long I apparently didn’t see this before?)
Her perfect date is the kind that doesn’t seem like a date at all, where it just looks like two friends hanging out together to an outsider that doesn’t know them. Just spending time with her significant other is enough for her, and quite frankly she doesn’t like all those sweeping gestures of love that you see all the time on the internet.
Her perfect date is kind of just her spending some time with her boyfriend, maybe just staying in and having dinner and then watching a movie or just spending time with him. So long as she’s with someone she cares about and who truly cares about her back she’s content.
(Edit: Actually, she would probably be really happy if she got taken to a botanical garden or something, but she really wouldn’t want to do it every single time.)

Sakura didn’t want to start her next sentence with Well, if you’re alive, due to the connotations it could imply, and also, because not everybody that got hit with a violent infection died days afterwards if they were untreated. She took a deep breath before continuing, as she began wrapping the wound around her arm with a bandage of her own.
“Nohr didn’t try to control the Faceless, they controlled them, they are of their own creation… but some go rogue, their only instinct, to attack helpless villagers on a stroll or on a trip…” She gulped. “However, they are very slow, so most people are able to outrun them… Back before the war between the kingdoms, they used to be common in Hoshido… due to Nohrian attacks…” She stopped for a moment, letting out a sigh. “We… want to believe they aren’t Nohrian attacks, today.”
She shook her head and kept working. The war was of no importance, and Sakura was mostly preoccupied with the infection at hand. “Regarding your infection, it’s going to be alright.” Her head moved to meet with the woman’s, and Sakura gave her a smile. “You have been healing quite fast, no… um…” She paused for a second. “No pus seems to be around the wound… so I’d say it looks good.”
With a smile, she finished placing the bandage around, and then began to place her stuff in her bag.
Ishtar had to hold herself back from saying anything else about the faceless. She had the feeling that if she said anything more on the subject it would be preaching to the choir, so to speak. Especially with what she said about Nohrian attacks...
“From what I could tell, the ones I saw were not under anyone’s control,” she assured her. “They didn’t seem coordinated enough for lack of a better term. They were most likely just a few that went rouge, like you suggested.” She held herself back from suggesting to make sure that it wasn’t planned. More than likely she would bring it up on her own accord, and she had no idea how any advice she gave would be taken.
“Thank you for healing me,” Ishtar said, giving a very small smile to her in gratitude. (Or, well, people that knew her would consider it a smile. She wasn’t sure how someone else would interpret it.) “I’m glad it doesn’t seem infected. I’m not sure what would have happened if you hadn’t been here.”
She paused for a moment, before realizing, “I never asked for your name, did I?”

Sakura didn’t answer at first, checking the bandages on her forearm. Gently, she placed a hand on them, looking at the other. “I-I’m going to take the bandages off. If it hurts, please beat with it.” She carefully pulled the bandage out with one hand, as she had the alcohol in the other. The girl noticed that, as she pulled, some of the wound had stuck to the bandage, pulling it. “Sorry, it’s a little… sticky.” She furrowed her brows, and once it was completely off, she fetched a small towel from her bag, soaked it in alcohol and put it against her wound.
“Those are…” she began, as she pressed the towel against the wound. “Faceless, artificial human beings with immense power. They were used as Nohr’s main mechanism of attack and defense, back when Moth…” She swallowed her words. “When Queen Mikoto was… was…” She sniffed. “When Queen Mikoto was alive.”
With the other side of the towel, she cleaned a single tear that fell from her eyes. “Some of us, Hoshidans, thought that they were undead, but… it’s a mystery what they truly are, at least to me.” She put the towel off for a bit, then folded it in a different way, poured some alcohol and placed it on the wound again. “Sometimes their claws are poisoned or putrid, so people that get hurt like this are prone to… infections.”
She avoided meeting the other’s gaze. “I hope that’s not your case. Faceless infections tend to be very violent.”
Ishtar clenched her teeth together, but that was the only sign of pain she allowed herself to make as the healer cleaned the wound.
She listened in horror as she explained what those creatures were. “They... Nohr tried to control them?” She asked, horror plain in her voice. “What were they thinking?!? It’s almost as bad as the Dea-” she cut herself off there. Not because she may have been saying too much, but because she doubted that anything could be worse than those abominations. When she had seen the Deadlords for the first time, not long before she had gone to fight the Liberation Army for the last time...
She cut her thoughts off there, instead focusing on what she had said after that. Ignoring the infection bit for a moment (it wouldn’t help anything to worry about that), she focused on what she said about Queen Mikoto. She was willing to bet that she was about to say Mother before cutting herself off, meaning that she was probably sister to the current King Ryoma. She couldn’t remember the others in the family however, so it didn’t matter much.
She sighed. “I’m glad I found you as fast as I did then, if these infections are as bad as you say.” She paused for a moment, and then just asked quickly, before she could change her mind, “Do you think mine is that bad?

Sakura placed her hand on the bloodied glove, with a worried frown. “C-can I?” She gently turned it around… there didn’t seem to be any blood coming out, which meant that… the injuries were somewhere else. She scanned the girl, looking for the cuts, or bruises, but wasn’t able to feel anything.
“W-when did you fight these… creatures?” Had the Faceless come back? They couldn’t have, right? They were supposed to be in Nohr, but of course, they could always get rid of their control… Sakura shook those thoughts away. “W-we should take care of your wounds properly. C-could you follow me, miss?” She slowly bowed to her, as she quickly walked up to where she was before.
A table set outside a wooden building seemed to be where she was before, as she placed her milkshake and bag on the seats next to it. She looked at the woman, again. “W-where did you… g-get injured?” She took out ethilic alcohol, to clean the wound… if there was one deep enough to get harshly infected.
Ishtar followed the healer to the table, sitting down at the table. Ignoring the healer’s questions for a moment, she frowned slightly upon seeing her bloody glove again, realizing that it may interfere with the healing. Carefully keeping her inner forearm out of sight to hide her brand, she pealed the glove off, setting in on her lap to keep the table as clean as possible, before gesturing to the bandage she had wrapped around her upper arm.
While she was doing this, she explained, “Those creatures... I didn’t fight them long ago. It was not too far away from here. Don’t worry though,” she quickly added to avoid any unnecessary panic, “I defeated them quickly enough, and I didn’t sense any others in the area, so this town should be safe.
“What were those things?” And most importantly, why do they exist? She could at least take the comfort that they weren’t Deadlords, but those things... she wondered what could make them exist. She didn’t know whether she would prefer them to be natural or not... If they were natural, then something was wrong with this continent, but if they were not, then that would mean that another continent had been messing with things they shouldn’t have... she prayed that it wouldn’t turn into anything like what had happened in Jugdral.
No one deserved that.

madeinblossom:
Sakura had been doing her monthly routines around Hoshido, going around the villages and aiding those that needed it. Now that the war was over, damage had been certainly avoided, but… the feeling still lingered. People still trained, still shouted “Nohrian Scum!” to give themselves a boost. It was still diminishing, but… it brought her a feeling of unease.
By the time she was done, it was starting to become evening, the sun’s rays weren’t as strong as before, and she was enjoying a milkshake from a nearby stand. Apparently, Nohrians had this thing called “Milk”, that wasn’t abundant in Hoshido, and with it, many things could be mixed to make sweet, soft drinks. Sakura had begun becoming a fan of these.
But she almost spit out her drink from seeing blood. She looked around the street, to see if anyone else was looking at the injured girl walking down the street, and while it didn’t seem like a mirage… no one moved. With her shake in hand, she ran towards the woman, holding a bag on her other hand.
“Miss! Miss!” she spoke, just before stopping in front of her, almost letting a scream due to being close to the blood on her hand. “Are… are you okay? C-can you hear me? P-please say you do…” She didn’t know what to do. Her hands were busy, how was she supposed to grab… something?!
Ishtar was startled to say the least when the pink haired healer had rushed up to her and started panicking. She hadn’t expected to find a healer this quick…
“Yes! I’m fi-” she broke off upon realizing that she was obviously not fine and that it was easy to see that. “It’s not as bad as it looks,” she tried again, softer this time. “The wound is already closing, and it doesn’t hurt so much anymore. I’ve had much worse injuries than this.”
She inwardly cursed herself for saying that. What was she supposed to say if the healer asked about it? She could sort of say the truth and say she had fought in a war, but if she was asked for details?
To shake these (probably paranoid) thoughts away, she quickly asked, “Those creatures… I only arrived on this continent a few days ago? What were they?”

In Need of a Healer- Sakura and Ishtar
Starter for @madeinblossom
Ishtar couldn’t help but let out a sharp breath as she managed to tie a bandage over the wound on her upper arm. Mjölnir had made quick work of the... things she had encountered, but she was getting rusty. Whatever those things were should not have been able to take her unawares. She couldn’t exactly complain about not having to fight much anymore, but still..
She would definitely be telling the person that recommended a trip to Hoshido to warn about these creatures to others. If she had known that maybe she would have picked somewhere else.
Then again the other option at the time had been Nohr and she liked the sun...
She sighed as she saw that some blood had gotten on her gloves. At least here they may not recognize the specific brand that was on her forearm or know of what happened in Jugdral if they did, so maybe she would be fine on that case.
She stood up and began walking towards the closest village. The wound wasn’t too bad and had already begun to close up, but she knew how bad infections could get and wasn’t willing to take that chance.

Alliance AU- Ishtar and Sety
Starter for @bloodofthewind
Another ball. From what the invitations had said, it was supposed to be a casual (well, as casual as a bunch of royalty can be) meeting between the rulers of the various dukedoms and countries. In reality it was yet another place for the endless feuds going on between the various noble families of Grandbell. Which meant that there were far too many people around that wanted something from Ishtar, which in many ways was unfortunately the story of her life.
She wished she could escape from the ballroom and return to her rooms, but she would inevitably be dragged back here by someone sent by her family if she left this early. Maybe if Ishtore was here he would be able to cover for her since she knew he hated these things almost as much as her, but he had somehow managed to find an excuse to stay in Freege. She couldn’t exactly begrudge him that, but that didn’t stop her from wishing that the excuse had included her as well.
If Julius had been healthy all she would have to do was say a few choice words and they would have been exploring the gardens, far away from the crowd. Unfortunately, he and a number of the Velthomer people were recovering from a bad sickness. There were a few dignitaries from there, but no high-ranking nobles had risked the journey from what she had overheard from her mother’s ranting the night before they had left.
She was walking on the edge of the crowd, trying to avoid anyone from noticing her and attempting to strike up a conversation (or worse, ask her to dance and pull her into the middle of the room again), when she saw someone with green hair in the corner. She paused for a moment, trying to remember where she had seen him before. If she was remembering right, he should be Prince Sety of Silesia, and judging by the fact that he was sitting in the corner avoiding everyone he probably had the same thoughts she did on this ball.
Deciding to take a chance, she headed towards him. At the very least, them being near to each other would discourage others from approaching them if they thought they were conversing, which would hopefully last them until they could finally leave. And if they actually did begin to have a nice conversation… well, she wasn’t opposed to that. Quite the opposite actually; it was always nice to talk to people that had little or nothing to do with the politics that overran Grandbell.
“Excuse me, but would you mind if I sat here with you? Dealing with these events can be… tiring.”

👀 what's the worst thing you've ever done?
“Uh...” Ishtar began very eloquently, looking panicked. This wasn’t the question she had been expecting...
“Well... one time I accidentally electrocuted my brother. Reinhardt was showing me a couple things and he startled me and he had to go see a healer. Yes, that’s the worst thing I’ve done!” she finished with fake brightness, praying that they won’t pursue this line of questioning.

👀 + how do u feel about reinhardt?
“Reinhardt…” Ishtar starts, a sad smile forming on her face. “He was my best retainer. He was one of the most stable things in my childhood. In a lot of ways, despite being my bodyguard, he was just as much of a brother to me as Ishtore was. He and Ishtore both helped me master thunder magic.
“I… I miss him. Listening to Julius and sending him away- sending him to his death… I don’t think I will ever not regret that. He most likely would have died either way, but… I can’t stop blaming myself…”

Send ␛ for an ANGER headcanon.
Ishtar is actually extremely hard to anger. Yes, she can get irritated, but full blown anger? Not easy.
One thing that can, however, is insulting those who she truly cares about. She would get very vocal if you try to say something extremely negative about, say, Ishtore or Reinhardt, like saying that they deserved to die. That would get very ugly very fast. She’d probably say it to most anyone too, regardless of what position they are in. (Okay, maybe she would have more tact depending on the person, but it would still be kind of ugly.)
She probably wouldn’t get mad enough to try and actually attack them though. Unless it was Manfroy. I am convinced that at some point in any conversation they would have post war she would finally snap and just start attacking him over everything he did.
