Theodora was silent for a minute, walking in the darkness, and Eleanor was suddenly absurdly sure that Theodora had put out a hand to her, unseen. “Theo,” Eleanor said awkwardly, “I’m no good at talking to people and saying things.”
Theodora laughed. “What are you good at?” she demanded. “Running away?”
Nothing irrevocable had yet been spoken, but there was only the barest margin of safety left them; each of them moving delicately along the outskirts of an open question, and, once spoken, such a question—as “Do you love me?"—could never be answered or forgotten.
— The Haunting of Hill House, Shirley Jackson

so it turned out the "sexual fantasies" were a result of ocd and im not the horny kind of asexual but the mentally ill kind. fun!
me, an asexual who recoils at the idea of ever having to have realistic sex with anyone ever: i am asexual. this is a thing that i know. i am secure in this identity, i like being asexual.
me, again, still asexual but also the kind of asexual to be horny all the time and have vivid sexual fantasies they would never do in real life, waking up at 3 am, dripping sweat: But What If I’m Not

the key to being a hater and not have it be corrosive to your spirit is that you gotta balance it out by openly loving things too. trashing shit is only respectable if you’re also capable of joy and not just oozing negativity 24/7. also when you’re being positive you’re not allowed to do it with ironic detachment. all sincerity all the time babey

You ever think about how unified humanity is by just everyday experiences? Tudor peasants had hangnails, nobles in the Qin dynasty had favorite foods, workers in the 1700s liked seeing flowers growing in pavement cracks, a cook in medieval Iran teared up cutting onions, a mom in 1300 told her son not to get grass stains on his clothes, some girl in the past loved staying up late to see the sun rise.

Not gonna lie still thinking about the absolute bomb that was the Doctor Who episode where they reveal that the TARDIS requires like eight or something people to pilot and that’s why the Doctor looks ridiculous when he flies it… like.. that was SO simple and yet SUCH a good way to instantly convey so much loneliness… like bro.. bro it requires a family… a whole bunch of people… but they just fly alone and make do…

Simm and Gomez were so perfectly set up as foils for their counterpart Doctors, but it feels like they conceived the Dhawan Master without figuring out how to make him relate to Thirteen.
Dhawan does such a good job with it on his own like he's got the impish, sneering villainy covering centuries of pain and rage thing down, but he's acting against a brick wall. Thirteen is so underdeveloped and shallow that it's impossible for him to get anything really meaningful back.
The "kneel" scene was a little sketch, but it's probably the closest they've gotten to any kind of believable tension between the characters. Everything else is Dhawan acting his heart out and Whittaker just being like "Oh you're such a bad guy. I don't like you." because there's not enough to Thirteen as a character to draw anything more substantial than "she doesn't like evil people" from her. There's none of the Ten/Twelve stuff where you can really feel the history and complex relationship between the characters.
I'd love to see an audio or multi-Doctor special or something put him opposite Eleven. That actually feels like a much better match given how Smith also played it like the Doctor was presenting a character to mask a darker self underneath.

I’m getting fed up with this whole “feminism as an identity” thing. Time for “feminism as an action.”
So instead of asking “can a feminist do x?” ask “is doing x a feminist action!”
Can a feminist take her husband’s last name? Mu. Null. Question un-valid, please un-ask question.
Is taking your husband’s last name a feminist action? No it isn’t. It doesn’t challenge the patriarchy in anyway, it is the status quo thing to do, it is what is expected of women, and it carries a lot of historical baggage about ownership and shit like that.
But that’s okay, your life choices don’t have to be 100% dictated by your politics unless you want them to. And it’s okay to really want to take his name while recognizing that you also want to do the feminist thing and keep your own, and it’s okay to feel conflicted and have a hard time making the choice. But no more of this enabling “as long as I made the choice myself it is a feminist choice” -bullshit. Own your choices, even the ones that aren’t informed by your feminist politics. You are still a human being and people do shit that contradicts their politics and even interests all the time. Just stop pretending that everything you do is feminist because you are a feminist, that’s not how it works.
