I've been really good! I've been a bit busy lately with work and wedding planning. I'm actually travelling tomorrow morning for work so even this weekend is gonna be a busy one for me 🥲
I’m def trying to be optimistic bc having Joe Alt will be a massive boost for the OL and protect Justin, esp seeing as the shaky line is how he got injured last season 😬. And this is a pretty deep WR draft class so I’m hoping we pick up some good players in the later rounds!
Absolutely! I was definitely disappointed at the time, but I am feeling more content with the pick today. I'm excited to see who else we pick in later rounds and if we can take anyone else in free agency as well.
Idk if I'd go as far as that but I get the disappointment for sure 😂 It's not how I expected our pick at 5 to go, but I also don't think it's an out-and-out bad pick.
While Justin does need protection, I kinda feel we could’ve taken him later, unless they knew something we didn’t. I just feel WR was more needed given that you cut and traded away the two that Justin has the most chemistry with. I’m glad they did get JJ, for the past 2 weeks twitter was trying to convince me that they were trading Justin and drafting JJ
I don't want my disappointment to seem like I'm being mean about Joe specifically (bc he has the big job of protecting Justin now) but I agree with you. I also think if we planned on drafting a tackle we should've traded down.
I personally would've preferred us to take a WR at 5, but perhaps, as you say, there was some factor we fans aren't aware of that meant they had to take Alt earlier.
Certainly the o-line is going to be a key element to our new offense so it's not a bad decision necessarily, I just think it could've been better if that makes sense.
Whatever the reason, I really hope Joe does a good job and I will be supporting him wholeheartedly. After all he's a Charger now!
At least Justin will have some protection with Joe Alt 🥲
Yeah, we definitely do need better protection for Justin, I absolutely agree. I just wish they'd traded down for a tackle and gained some capital for it. It feels like a bit of a wasted pick imo, but I acknowledge I'm just a fan and certainly no football expert.
Even if I'm disappointed by the pick tonight, I'm hoping for a good outcome and that Joe does a great job on the Chargers. I'm looking forward to watching him play that's for sure.
do you think justin had more of an input this year’s draft? i know previous years he said he didn’t like to get too involved only when they asked his opinion.
It's hard to say really, but I think after the absolute shitshow that was last season I think he'd be far more open to being involved. Whether he has been involved or has had the chance to is anyone's guess unfortunately
if the chargers don’t draft a good receiver i’m gonna lose my mind and rip my hair out
So accurate 😭 I've been feeling progressively more nervous as the day's gone on. I know what I want to happen but I don't know what to expect ngl; this franchise has hurt me too often for me to feel comfortable lmao
Happy Draft Day everyone. I'm sure nothing disappointing or unexpected will happen today and we'll get some really good players and everything will be fine...
Now the official ESPN NFL IG account is posting about the Chargers taking a QB with their 1st round pick? What is going on I’m scared
I'm guessing you're talking about their use of Joe Fortenbaugh's tweet on betting odds for a graphic. I wouldn't worry too much about it, Nonnie. The tweet is disingenuous bc the reason the odds of a QB going at pick 5 are 6/1 today is because the Chargers may trade their pick to another team whom may draft a QB.
We don't know what's going to happen on the day, but, to me, this seems like some attempt to sway individuals who like to gamble on the Draft or catch people with bet FOMO, encouraging them to make bad decisions.
This doesn't change that Justin would be able to reject any trade he didn't like as per his contract (afaik) and that the Chargers would have a great deal of dead cap space if they did trade Justin.
I'm not psychic nor a football expert - I certainly don't know what's going to happen tomorrow - but this seems like someone saying something silly and ESPN using it for engagement.
