the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belonging, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.

thinking about how every time joker pulls out a naga, his tongue gets slim and forked, darting out to taste the fear of the shadow he's staring at with slitted eyes down the barrel of his gun. how he tousles his bangs with more finesse every time he calls upon narcissus, his coat flitting around him elegantly as if the sea breeze itself were drawing it to flight. the way his arahabaki makes him sterner, less willing to handle bullshit from even the team, his normally lackadaisical movements predictable in precise swirls or clean lines. relying on nekomata to peer around corners and hear the whispers of passing shadows with an extra pair of ears, whipping open a door on an unsuspecting guard with a smart flick of his tail. teaming up with makoto for a joint attack as he pulls out hell biker with a roar, revving up and charging into the fray with barely an errant thought for the fire licking at his heels.

thinking about the thieves, watching him shift back and forth between a dizzying number of personas trying to find the best skill, physical and behavioral transformations passing in the blink of an eye as he finally pulls out a hecatoncheires, a few dozen extra arms bursting out of his back, tearing the shadow apart with his hands and teeth, cackling wildly and screaming at the roof of mementos in the aftermath of his carnage.

thinking about when they're trudging back to the surface, jack frost is cuddled against joker's side in the monabus, blasting the ac despite the fact that it's october and jeez, man, it's fuckin' cold, can't you put him away? aw, cmon, 'yuji, he-hee's just a little guy! but yeah my ass is free-hee-zing too, and he tucks him away to hold a little crystal skull in his lap while the thieves keep thinking, i didn't know joker's eyes could glow that color, and joker's amusement merely vibrates in their minds, his silhouette wavering in the dim, red light.

and just past the entrance to leblanc, as akira slips back into the quiet, studious probationer who lives and works at a coffee shop in the shadow of an overpass, they're thinking, is this another mask?

I hate when you love a character who’s like a kid or a teenager and they so perfectly capture the flaws and struggles of being that age and not understanding everything fully yet or necessarily making the best choices especially when they’re in a very painful or complex situation and they feel so real and human because of it and then you go online and there’s someone who’s like “they’re DUMB and EVIL and SELFISH because of [important moment in their character arc when they messed up and learned from it or broke under pressure or didn’t have the courage to do an incredibly difficult thing or responded realistically to their truly horrifying circumstances]”
