Just spent the past some amount of hours putting all dimension 20 episodes (only including episodes where they are actively playing DnD) into an alphabetical list for the worst d20 watching experience possible!!!!

It starts with the first episode of acofaf and ends with the last episode of acofaf so maybe it's just the worst way to watch acofaf.

I’m in the same boat here, I just got into D20 when Unsleeping City was starting. I had the idea to check out the fandom and found out that it was much smaller than I thought! But I made myself cozy.

Eventually I went on sort of a fandom hiatus to deal with college, and I peeked my head back in and went “What???” Because it’s grown astronomically since I’ve been away

It’s wild how when I started dimension 20 less than 2 years ago, it was tiny. The fandom didn’t even have an ao3 tag, the unsleeping city had just started, and there were maybe two ‘big’ bloggers.

Now, people will use dimension 20 to tag generic dnd posts to make them gain more traction because it really has gotten big enough that it could work

favorite underrated fantasy high dynamics have to include kristen & aguefort. like you know in h*rry p*tter how dumbledore sometimes just shows up and tells this teen they're gonna go on a fucked up adventure and hes like yeah this might as well happen?? that times ten. kristen's sixteen and she's both smuggled this old man into heaven and helped him break out again after he got tired of impersonating god? he called her up in the middle of the night just to tell her about how he tried to get five hundred feet tall and grab the sun and you just cant do that and she's like yeah. dude that sounds tough I'm sorry your day was so weird. I like to imagine the rest of the party is not on this level with the principal of their school but he DOES occasionally show up at unpredictable odd hours to whisk kristen applebees away for a spontaneous extra credit assignment that just entails planeshifting and breaking into the abyss to steal a nice coat he left there one time a century ago after smashing and dashing a demon king. he just wanted a buddy to do that with and he picked a child with a dexterity score 1/4 as high as her total age

thinking about what a fantastic villain kalina is, not just in general but for riz specifically. riz, who has struggled since the very start of freshman year with not really knowing his dad, reckoning with the fact that there are things his parents never told him that have impacted his life–in kalina’s case, literally since he was born. being born with this presence in his own body, a body he’s already always at odds with for inherent as well as social reasons (constantly sleep deprived because he cares about doing his job more than taking care of himself, smaller than almost everyone he knows, perceived and treated differently on the basis of being a goblin). the fact that his entire purpose, as he sees it, because solving problems and cracking the case is the one place he’s confident that he can be useful and therefore worth keeping around, is based in physical clues and logic. and kalina is someone who doesn’t leave footprints, whose very presence in a photograph is a matter of perspective, who works in illusion and operates on literal nightmare logic. and all of that is without even unpacking how her worldview is so completely the opposite of riz’s: she cares about him, and she will happily hurt him to put herself in a better position. she’s a fundamentally selfish specter haunting a boy for whom The Self is one of the last priorities on his list and frequently something he actively doesn’t want to think about. she is unknowable to someone whose greatest fear is being wrong, is never knowing the answer, and a reflection of the way he himself fears being different to the point of becoming unknowable to the people he loves. riz gukgak spends the season unable to catch a ghost. worse than that, unable to even understand her. and the worst part is that it’s personal.
