i kinda understand now why ppl who usually gravitate towards crime dramas such as true detective aren't as likely to enjoy nbc hannibal. it's because will graham, as much as he seems like it at first, isn't that great of a white male power fantasy as you would like. he kills someone using the badge for the first time, has a mental breakdown about it, shakes and throws up about it, almost dies from a brain inflammation from it, and then turns evil and (experimentally) bisexual. not exactly what that crowd is looking for.

i know we give season one will a lot of flack for not seeing hannibals red flags sooner, but put yourself in his shoes. youre a guy, who just met this other guy, and hes just described you to the absolute point, and thats strange, but it also feels slightly relieving. he doesnt shy away from your darker thoughts, he doesnt run away when you confess to enjoying killing a man, and he never makes you feel like the evil inside you. that would feel so good you would ignore the wrong itching at the back of your skull, because hes scratching a whole other itch instead.
