The chunky-ring trend is taking over, and one designer you have to thank is BonBonWhims's Clare Ngai. We spoke with the designer of the whimsical brand that will take you right back to the 2000s with its colorful designs. The name also seems to have the same cheery sentiment that the designs evoke. "BonBon means candy in French, and it also means good. Whims is short for whimsical, [so that's how I got] whimsy. I wanted this to be a really good-vibes-only, positive brand, and I feel like that really embodies all of those messages. "Apophis, named after the Egyptian deity that personified evil and chaos, is coming. The huge asteroid will fly unusually close to Earth on Friday, but fear not: experts have confirmed that it will remain a safe distance -- in fact, millions of miles, away. According to Space, the asteroid, Apophis, will approach Earth at a distance of 0.11 astronomical units, or about 10 million miles. This distance is considered "close" in astronomical terms but according to EarthSky, there is no chance that Apophis will collide with Earth. However, this won't be the only time this piece of space junk closes in on our planet. NASA predicts that Apophis will pass even closer to Earth on April 13, 2029, reaching a proximity akin to the distance that some spacecraft orbit the planet. It is rare for an asteroid this large to pass so close to Earth, though smaller asteroids have been observed at similar distances. In 2016, after 15+ years in London, I came back for a short while to NYC and setup shop in Brooklyn. I found my Jivamukti practice at the school in Union Square where I would add hundreds of post-it-notes to the walls and finally felt safe again. Around this time in 2017 I made one of the best decisions of my life, and that was to move to Los Angeles. Today, I am happy to be back in NYC for a short while. (Photo Repost) I remember the day Elvis died, or at least the day it was reported. The reason is, is that my mother seemed to have been heartbroken, and I could never really undertsand ... as I only knew of the sad looking version poured into a polyester suit sweating on stage... and that didn't resonate. Of course then there was the 90's version with Forest Gump and his Mama (played by Sally Fields) that gave off that same southern support for the young and full of life Elvis.... still.... nothing really, only a shared common bond of the loving mother and Forest Gump's southern style or quiet consideration. (minus the quiet bit in the comparison) Then I saw this photo, and you can immediately see style and gentleman like grace in his southern swag and charisma. "His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and good humor endeared him to millions, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known the world over by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture. Elvis died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977. He was 42."
