PSA BEFORE I GO TO BED ABOUT THE POPE AND ABORTION AND CRAP
1. Abortion is held by the Catholic Church to be a sin, because it defines embryos as human individuals.
2. The Catholic Church has NEVER held this to be some kind of UNFORGIVABLE SIN, unlike what many headlines are implying.
3. In the Catholic Church there are not only Sins against morality, but Crimes Against Canon Law. Sins can be forgiven via the sacrament of confession or via an act of perfect contrition. Crimes against canon law have various associated sentences.
4. Abortion is also held by the Catholic Church to be a CRIME. It incurs penalty of latae sententiae excommunication.
5. Latae sententiae excommunication basically means that at the moment of the act you are automatically excommunicated.
6. Excommunicated doesn’t mean DAMNED ETERNALLY. It means that you are no longer considered in communion with the Catholic Church and cannot participate in its sacraments until you’ve jumped through the hoops to get back in. So the sin isn’t UNFORGIVEABLE, you just have to jump through hoops before you can actually go to confession.
7. Slapping the pope is also a crime which incurs latae sententiae excommunication.
8. In this case the hoops are pretty much contacting your bishop and telling him you’re super sorry that you went and excommunicated yourself.
9. The bishop can actually appoint people to receive this apology, and in the US (and many other countries) pretty much all bishops have decided that all priests in their dioceses can accept this apology already.
10. Popes sometimes declare a “Year of _______” for the entire Church to focus on.
11. Pope Francis has declared a “Year of Mercy,” and further that all priests can receive people who have had abortions back into the Church.
12. Because of 9, most priests were able to do this anyway.
13. Also, Canon Lawyers aren’t really sure that people who have had abortions have been ACTUALLY incurring excommunication, even if in the abstract Canon Law says that abortion incurs excommunication.
14. Moral Theologian  Charles Camosy says this about 13: “Not every sin is a crime according to Canon law. The crime has a higher bar to meet: an intentional and free choice to kill the innocent. Any such acts (whether abortions or something else) are serious crimes and would mean automatic excommunication. …[Canon Lawyer Edward Peters and others] argues that women “rarely, if ever” commit the crime of abortion. This view stands on strong moral-theological ground. Many women are physically coerced into having abortions, and almost all women are coerced by patriarchal social structures which force them into ‘choices’ for which they do not have the same resources as do men.”
15. By “patriarchal social structures” I believe Camosy means everything from “conservative families will freak out if their teenager is pregnant” to “pregnancy costs women AN INSANE AMOUNT OF MONEY” etc etc.
TLDR: Abortion has never been an unforgivable sin, Pope Francis is practically changing very little.

If it isn't your uterus :)))) then it isn't your business :)))) stop talking about abortion as if its the worst thing in the world :))))
If it isn’t your life to lay down :)))) then it isn’t your business :)))) stop talking about abortion like it isn’t what it actually is, which is taking the life of a child :))))You do not get to choose who lives and who dies :)))) you do not get to tell me to stop fighting or talking about it :))))“in the eyes of the law… the slave is not a person.” 1858 Virginia Supreme Court
“An Indian is not a person within the meaning of the constitution.” 1881 American Law Review
“the meaning of ‘qualified persons’ does not include women.” 1928 Canada Supreme Court
“the Reichgericht itself refused to recognize Jews… as ‘persons’ in the legal sense.” 1936 Germany Supreme Court
“The Law of Canada does not recognize the unborn child as a legal person possessing rights.” 1997 Canada Supreme CourtJust because the law says something, it doesn’t mean it’s fact. Just because I don’t have a uterus doesn’t mean I don’t have a right to say something for those who can’t. 54 million lives have been lost, my voice will not be silenced just as theirs has.

When you tell people you’re Catholic and they say, “Okay, but what are YOUR personal beliefs?” And you’re just like, “I believe everything the Church teaches.” And they just stare at you. That about sums it up.

stop assuming christians pick and choose what they want to believe out of the Bible and go take a theology class or something. because believe it or not, we do know our Bible, and we DON’T pick and choose little bits to quote out of context (unlike people who say this sort of stuff). educate yourselves.

Reasons to join the Catholic Church TODAY!
1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. See #1. It’s worth repeating.
3. When it comes to hats, every priest’s motto is clearly “go big or go home.”
4. Sometimes you can see altar boys trying not to sneeze and their pained expressions are hilarious.
5. It’s way, way more fun yelling “YOU HERETIC!” at someone when you’re Catholic.
6. Like the Bible? Well, when you’re Catholic, THERE’S EVEN MORE OF IT. 8D
7. SSPX wank is endlessly entertaining. (If you’re already Catholic and don’t know what I’m talking about, you have been deprived, homie.)
8. You’ll no longer have that weird conflicted feeling during history class when studying various persecutions of Christians (they died for Jesus…but since they were Catholic, was it the “real” Jesus?).
9. There’s one whole Sunday in December when everyone wears pink, and it’s fab.
10. “Popemobile.”

Quote
It is theologically and anthropologically important for woman to be at the center of Christianity. Through Mary, and the other holy women, the feminine element stands at the heart of the Christian religion.

do you ever just think about Jesus living here on earth
i think sometimes we tend to think He just bounced from one miracle to another and everyday was a Bible story but His ministry lasted for three years and the Gospels don’t actually cover that much so
imagine all those ordinary days??
He probably had favorite foods and morning routines and sore dirty feet from walking while sweat ran in His eyes in the hot Judean sun and He got blisters and hiccups and colds and maybe He snored
all the times He laughed till He cried and i bet He had inside jokes with His disciples. imagine having an inside joke with the person who gives you breath to laugh in the first place
and He had human skills He knew how to build a house and cook and wash his clothes and read
passing food at the dinner table and bumping hands with Jesus
talking about silly inconsequential things like the weather
maybe some nights John was sleepy and he leaned against Jesus and could hear His heartbeat
maybe some nights a disciple had insomnia and he climbed out of his bedroll to find Jesus sitting against a rock, looking up at heaven, and they sat and watched the stars together
(the God of the universe looking up through short-sighted eyes at His creation, and the disciple wants so badly to ask what it was like to shape each star, but he looks at those calloused human hands and something in him trembles)
do you ever think that the ordinary days so far outnumbered the miraculous ones that the disciples, sometimes, almost forgot
and then He goes and turns water into wine and feeds five thousand people from a kid’s lunch and brings dead Lazarus walking alive out of the tomb and they just kind of lose their breath
not because they didn’t expect deity to accomplish the impossible but because this God has been living with them
it’s not the miracles that are unthinkable

I don’t understand anti-science Christians.
I mean, what are you afraid of?
God designed everything. Every star, every flower, every heart that beats. It’s all a testament to His great love and great power. If you truly believe that God is powerful, why fear learning about the wonder of His works? If it is discovered, if it can be known, He intends for it to be known. He reveals Himself in the wonderful glory of His world.
Are you afraid that somehow, somewhere, there is something in nature or medicine or psychology that will be God’s great undoing? That somewhere there is something to disprove Him?
Do you really serve such a small God?

If it was any other organization, can you imagine that they would be granted the courtesy of “alleged” and “some” in reference to harvesting fetal organs? Can you imagine still being kindly and gently referred to as a “nonprofit affiliate”?

Important PSA:
If somebody has a consecrated host and plans not to return it…
CALL THE POLICE ON THEM.
The only way that person could have gotten that consecrated host is through theft or fraud, both of which are illegal means of obtaining property.
