Calla rarely got legitimately, truly angry, and this went way beyond any kind of anger they’d known previously. Someone they cared for was hurt, and the person responsible was going to pay. The fact Calla had no idea where said person was at the moment, or even how to get to them, didn’t really matter. All that mattered was the searing rage boiling in them. Breaking shit had seemed like a good idea at the time, so now here they were in the middle of the woods with a stack of cheap dishes settled haphazardly by their feet. They grabbed a plate and hurled it as hard as they could against a tree, and when that didn’t help them feel better, they threw two. Then three, four, five. Even kicking the stack into a nearby fire pit didn’t make a difference. Frustration began to outweigh the anger enough that every crack of porcelain was accompanied by a loud yell, but nothing made them feel any less furious.
"Big”, they said, holding their arms wide. “Big and sweet. Like a... bear that doesn’t want to kill you. Until it does.”
Nadia
“I’m sorry it’s physically impossible for me to talk about her because the mere mention of her name slays me. She’s that powerful.”
Portia
“Portia tells me all the secrets she knows about Julian so I can better torment him. She’s like both my teacher and my cohort. I’m not allowed to talk about her cat anymore though, I keep calling her Pepis and she’s actually responding to it now. So I’m like.. indefinitely grounded from Portia’s cat.”
“Do I have to talk about him?” They groaned and rolled their eyes. “He’s an asshole. Conceited, pretentious, kind of poncy, and so full of shit his eyes are brown. The only enjoyable thing about him is how easy it is to piss him off.”
They laughed gleefully, a mischievous glint in their eyes. “Have you ever messed with him before? I mean like, just relentlessly tormented him and teased him? It’s so easy, and it’s so satisfying because he gets so flustered! I could look at him too long and he’d start blushing.” Their laughter died down a bit and there was obvious adoration in their eyes as they continued. “I didn’t think I’d like him at first, but... he’s grown on me. A lot.”
Zander
“My partner in crime”, they said, a bit ominously. “The ice cream to my sandwich. The nut butter to my jam. The egg to my roll. The peas in my pod.”It was difficult to keep the bit going and they ended up falling into a fit of giggles they just... keeps going. Their sides hurt, there were tears in their eyes, and they covered their face with their hands as they quietly whispered, “The slimy to my asshole.”
“Asra’s my best friend.” They shrug a little as they say it, as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “Honestly, there’s fewer things I’d like to do than spend the day with him. Even mundane things seem special if we’re doing them together.” They flush a little and duck their head, trying to hide it. “I love him. Simple as that.”
