when you think about it, dreaming is kind of like homestuck. confusing. complicated. can't remember what happened afterward. scientists don't really understand it. dirk is there sometimes
post I just reblogged has me thinking. Dancestors after dooming themselves through their own selfish childishness, but also they themselves were children at the start of their session. Of course they were childish, of course they didn’t consider others, their lives never required it fundamentally. Beforus was still the dog eat dog world alternia was, but with a pretty coat of paint. And the universe cursed these kids by forcing them around eachother 24/7 and giving them a task too daunting for most of them to even comprehend
When faced with the weight of the universe most of them collapsed and ran back into what they knew: naive impressions of adulthood and maturity and drama. They’re literally just a bunch of internet friends coping via communication with eachother.
And then the few characters who actually understood and were up to the task of rewriting the universe had SOMETHING blocking them. Aranea wasn’t respected enough for anyone to listen to. Meenah was too emotionally immature to lead a group properly, and only fueled their existing issues with eachother. Kurloz was preoccupying himself with ensuring the security of the timeline and the birth of Lord English.
Like. It’s both their own fault. And the universe’s. For forcing them to do this. For telling them to grow up and not giving them the proper resources. The universe didn’t lead a horse to water, it found the horse in a desert and told it to find a drink

FL Studio Girlfriend and Audacity Boyfriend. They should get to make absolutely abysmal tracks together for enrichment. 2.5 hour long Karkat tirade with a few inscrutable verses from Dave interspersed somewhere and the beat is just a nightcore version of Tom Jones's It's Not Unusual with the amen break crudely overlaid. John convinces them to cover How Do I Live and it ends up being a shitty midi track laden with Hannah Barbera running sound effects.
