She is though, this snake is incredibly overweight. I left a comment saying that as well and he assured me that she’s just a big girl and not overweight at all she “only” gets a small to medium rat every week (That’s too much)

You will notice how her spine is sunken in, this is because of the massive fat pads running along either side of it. Your snakes spine should not be sucked in like that, it shouldn’t really be visible unless they are going over a rounded shape in which case it poking out a little is ok. There is also no taper on the tail, she is thick down to her vent and then her tail sharply tapers down after it.

Sir if you don’t think this animal is overweight what do you think is overweight? Do they have to have a beer belly??

Purple, I think most care groups aren’t doing enough, but you’re absolutely right on the ‘money’ with the rest of your comment. It does seem rather fishy that someone who stands to financial gain from goldfish abuse would be the biggest supporter of goldfish abuse.

And here we have Lime Green getting torn down by Light Blue. I think Light Blue is the real MVP of this thread.

I'd really like a tank for goldfish somewhere down the road. I do read up on goldfish care here and there (not a ton though, as this would literally be happening in like 5-8 years from now) but I was curious, what's like the breed of goldfish that has the least freaky mutations that can cause health issues. I was thinking of just getting like 3 feeder goldfish, putting them in an 100 gallon tank and letting them live like kings

“Feeder” goldfish are commons or comets. They’re pretty much the standard goldfish, and tend to live longer than fancies. They can get over 12″ long and would thrive in a large pond. Even large tanks don’t give them adequate swimming room when they’re fully grown.For indoor tank goldfish, the standard fantail or man-yu breed would probably be your best option, especially if you search for a fish that has a longer body. They’re unlikely to grow as large as commons and comets do (although not small fish by any means, at 6-10″) and swim fairly slowly in comparison, making them more ideal for a tank.

These posts are incredibly common, and so disappointing. I don’t even have a quip for it. 

Yes, this is another - of many - examples where the members of the group actively do not want to be educated on how to adequately provide for their pets but it’s also another, all too common, example of a new keeper with potential falling victim to Meredith’s snake oil.
