everytime i breathe i feel this feeling of a hand inside my guts trying to pull me apart.i tried to sew it all up but then with every bite of my lover's heart i eat the stitches melt and now its all gushing out.
im crying out loud with all the love leaking out of me; what if im drained of all the love i ever possessed. what if i unbecome what i am today.what if one day my lover realises that feeding me her delicate little heart cut into however small pieces wont stop the stitches from breaking apart.

hi mimi! top five indian novels and top five bollywood movies please? ❤
ughhhh tumblr deleted your ask first time anyway friendship ended with tumblr now tejal is my new best friend 😠💜❤️💙
novels
anything by ruskin bond- this great benevolent mountain spirit has penned so many beautiful novels. i recommend the room on the roof/vagrants in the valley (#1 and #2 in rusty series), a flight of pigeons, time stops at shamli, a handful of nuts and the children's omnibus, which frankly to me is the indian literature equivalent of studio ghibli.
the lowland by jhumpa lahiri, (no i will not let americans claim this), absolutely the novel that changed my life. when sleeping at last said "space and time takes violent things, angry things and makes them kind" he had not read this book. I've never before seen such a raw, intimate portrayal of grief.
pather dabi (transl: the right of the way) by sarat chandra chattopadhyay, which is about a secret society of revolutionaries in colonial India. the most stellar, brilliant cast of characters + so much commentary about untouchability, feminism, and decolonisation. this book had been banned by the british, suck it colonials. I adore sarat chandra so much.
feluda series by satyajit ray is not a novel but a mandatory read for The Bengali Experience® and all of my childhood is encapsulated in this thriller/travelogue series set in post colonial bengal, starring the most adorable and iconic trio: a pretentious dark academia mystery-solving boi, his smart and pure little cousin/assistant and one comedy gold (1) thriller novelist. a landmark of bengali culture.
chiriyakhana (the menagerie) by sharadindu bandopadhyay (part of byomkesh bakshi series). whodunit!!! loads of memorable characters!!! the very agatha christie like humour and banter!!! a strange pick for a comfort read and yet!! oh also, *maeve wiley voice* complex female characters :)
films
jab we met (2007, dir. imtiaz ali): a disillusioned depressed mumbai businessman on a nighttime train meets a whirlwind of a punjabi woman planning her elopement. 100/100 everything. this movie shaped a generation and a whole subgenre in bollywood. invented romance methinks.
fitoor (2016, dir. abhishek kapoor): dickens' great expectations retold against the early 2000s kashmir valley violence. it was commercially unsuccessful because god hates me, but fitoor epitomises beautiful: beautiful visuals, beautiful soundtrack, gorgeous cast, katrina kaif and aditya roy kapur are too beautiful to be human, tabu ANSWER my calls.
wake up sid (2009, dir. ayan mukherji). refer here. good quality film right there. just a warm, comforting hug on sad days, this story hugely inspired elements in my wip. i love konkona :(
taare zameen par (2007, dir. aamir khan and amol gupte) it's about a creative, open hearted child named ishaan who is sent to boarding school after several heartbreaking little events and meets an art teacher who changes his life. this movie opened up conversations about mental health, learning disorders, neurodivergence and education systems in india. never tries to force sympathy. but you WILL CRY. be warned.
jodhaa akbar (2008, dir. ashutosh gowariker) hm best period drama ever to be honest, based off the irl historical alliance between mughal emperor akbar and rajput princess jodha (mariam zamani) begrudging enemies to lovers, political and historical intrigue, no black and white framing of any faction (*cough, slb's propaganda nonsense*), ar rahman went OFF with that ost....pls watch it.
if u read till the end of the post ily
