Voidpunk as a concept is absolutely fascinating to me. 

For centuries certain groups have been labeled as “subhuman” or “un-human” for one characteristic or another and for centuries those groups have yelled back “no we’re not!” and fought tooth and nail to be seen as wholly human. But now there’s a whole sub-community of people from these groups turning around and saying without a trace of irony “Sure, I’m not human, what of it?”

And honestly? Whether it’s intentional or not, that mindset almost does a better job of humanizing these marginalized groups then the insistence that they’re human does. When people try to deny you of your humanity it’s because they know you are human and they know that denying that hurts you. So When you instead chose to own that lack of humanity it rips away the power of dehumanization and the people trying to hurt you are basically left having to argue you into believing that you’re human before they’re able to do harm. And while doing this arguing they will always, always disprove their reasoning for why you’re not human in the first place. In a sense, voidpunk uses the bigot’s arguments against them.    

That’s what makes the whole concept of voidpunk so unbelievably radical in my mind. It totally switches the dialog.

I don’t really consider myself to be voidpunk, but I love the concept and I love watching that community grow. It’s amazing to see and I can’t wait to see what people do with it.

The bigger voidpunk gets, the more I feel like it gets misunderstood, so I want to clear up a few things:

There is no one “right” or “wrong” way to be voidpunk. There is no voidpunk flag, there is no specific voidpunk aesthetic, there are no rules to voidpunk.

There is no deep meaning behind the term “voidpunk”. It was literally coined just because it sounded cool. You can ascribe meaning to it if you like, but at the end of the day, voidpunk is not necessarily about a “lack” of anything and does not have any specific look or feel to it.

You don’t need to have a voidsona. You don’t need to have a voidsona. YOU DO NOT. NEED. TO HAVE A VOIDSONA. I’m the creator of voidpunk, and I don’t have a voidsona. Voidsonas are great and if you decide you want to make one (or several!) all the power to you, but please stop excluding people who don’t.

Voidpunk was intentionally made to be as broad and all-encompassing as possible. Voidpunk can include all people who face dehumanization or demonization if they so choose, however they feel. Voidpunk can be abstract monsters, voidpunk can be a complete rejection of humanity, voidpunk can be just wearing cute alien earrings, voidpunk can be ghosts, voidpunk can be elves, voidpunk can be cats, voidpunk can be vampires, voidpunk can be Hatsune fuckin Miku. Whatever you feel, whatever you like, that’s voidpunk. Don’t feel pressured to conform to a certain aesthetic, or assume that voidpunk doesn’t apply to your dehumanization, because voidpunk is for all of us and there are no rules. You never have to think to yourself, “I’m not doing voidpunk the right way”, because half the reason most of us are voidpunk at all are because we’re not being human the “right way”, so it would be ridiculous to judge there.

I love this show and the fact that it’s so underrated because everyone is concentrating on GOT, MCU and reboots all over the place.

It feels like the 90′s and early 00′s, it’s all about the story, not the actors and not the trend.

Okay, damn that was good. Now I have to watch the next ep, opps.

Show is Dark Matter. Apparently anything set in space is like kryptonite for myself. 6 crew members awake from cryosleep aboard an empty ship, with not a memory of who they are or why they're there between them. What do they do for names? One through six in order of who woke up from cryo first - I'm still going to struggle to remember who's who I just know it! Something strange afoot, mystery to dig into and work out alongside the characters. Feel of faux family dynamic to be built, good effects and aesthetic.

Writer and Co-creator behind it also wrote and produced for the stargate series, which has me excited! One of a short list of series and universes I've ever been able and intrested to rewatch. Onward to a late night!

i think one of the reasons why kingsman tss appeals to me is because the male characters aren’t what they seem to be like they don’t embody the archetypes that their roles in the movie set out to be? harry first appears as a suave gentleman spy but soon is revealed to us as a lonely, kind, and fuck-the-patriarchy type of guy who tolerates zero bullshit and bigots. eggsy isn’t the young deliquent/fuckboy that other people think he should/could be but instead is a soft-hearted, dog-loving, respectful man who’s not only protective of the women (and some men) around him but also v caring and sweet?? and merlin, my guy, is not your average one-note handler who’s just there to be in charge of the tech stuff. he trains the recruits, treats them all equally, and is actually so soft and loves his friends very much??
