Sometimes I wonder what his career would've been if Spider-man didn't happen. I love the movies, I'm happy he got his dream role, but he was a drama indie actor before all of this. He probably would've stayed in that line. Not as famous as he is now but still doing quality work I feel like.

Right after Homecoming I had so many "plans" with him and thought that Hollywood was about to use his multi talents a lot because his presence in the industry felt so so refreshing. 7 years later I can't lie I'm a bit bummed because It's stagnant. It's even more frustrating when people say they're tired of seeing him everywhere...BITCH I wished 😭

yeah the fan casting, memes and critics really did some damage like no one can deny that and you’re allowed to be bummed, he’s a professional dancer and somewhat of an athlete (in comparison to other actors before anyone comes for me) and the only project that truly made use of that is still Spider-Man 🥴 and not even fully…

Listening to this podcast and they mentioned Tom, and its sad he went from 5 to 13 in the list. I really hope he has projects in the pipeline cause his filmography and career respect are looking sad as a fan

No, the only issue rn is critics 'not loving' his non-MCU projects, even this is not really entirely true because Last Call is getting good reviews, which is something film twt is obviously ignoring.

I still believe Tom can sell a successful non-IP movie, and he probably will be the first young male actor of his generation to do this because the others might have great teams and social media engagement, but these two things are not translating to the box office numbers (when it comes to non-IP movies) 💀. I think he has little to worry about, perhaps picking a project with a great/solid script that is directed by some prestigious director loved by critics.

no i absolutely agree with you and how isn’t going to be positive outlook on what he do, it’s absolutely valid but what i don’t get is how the media paints it as if he’s the most flop guy in the industry and they keep comparing him to other actors, my point was he was two steps ahead of his peers with his box office success but no one talks about it, an actor who changes the genre that he played for almost 6 years will definitely have some struggles with it

yeah but the thing is, even the projects that bombed with critics were still successes lol tdatt did well even with close to no promotion, cherry also did well from what we know, same with tcr, and yeah it sucks that uncharted’s success is being ignored and with that the tickets frenzy with r&j as well even though both pulls were remarkable…it is what it is, but yeah let’s hope he still comes out at the top and doesn’t get so many obstacles put in his way anymore lol

people really love to be negative when it’s tom’s career 😭 they always feel sad and pity as if he was the first male actor to start a new chapter of his career and struggle with it

like his last movie was a hit and a box office success during covid mind you when a lot of his peers struggled to have successful theatrical movies, he had TWO mind you, he didn’t get arrogant and book bunch of movies to be the lead actor in the industry for more years because looking at all the actors his age who had success you could see how many bunch of movies lined up for them

he took a great shot with working on some serious roles beginning with tcr and fred, tcr was brilliant start to flex his skills as a leading man and producer, yes it wasn’t that successful but on his cinematography it’s brilliant, and now with romeo and juliet he exploring his options as stage actor and he knows it’s something he tried before and still going to do it again

the difference between tom and his fellow peers that he loves what he does and he starting new chapter in his career, he knows his superstar power he could easily pick a romcom or some action movie after uncharted or tcr and you know people will be seated but he doesn’t want that, which makes me extra excited to know his upcoming choices for her projects specially movies !

I get all of that and I agree but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows either lol like I can’t blame anyone for being pessimistic, being away for so long and not releasing anything can be quite the hit to your career, like I don’t know if people would be up and running to the theatre if he was releasing a movie instead of doing R&J now compared to a year or two ago…that being said, it is nice that he is somewhat unpredictable with his choices and it’s a testament to his skill and his confidence in that, so we’ll see…it’s just a bummer that over the year some “prejudices” have formed around him and his work but oh well, we’ll see if he’s gonna shed those before he decides to say goodbye to all of this, I sure hope he will and I’m also confident in his ability to do so

It truly wasn't necessary at all. I don't think you need to have drastic changes in your appearance for every role, unless it make sense for the character

Ofc Cherry, a solider, has a buzzcut. Ofc Danny, a character from the 70s, has bangs. But this version of Romeo won't be set in the 15th century right ? Jamie usually has a modern take on plays and all his actors are dressed in jeans sweatpants lol. I truly don't get it but It is what it is U guess

I finally went through all the stages of accepting his new hairstyle. Of course, we are all joking here and mourning the loss of curls, but in fact I really like how Tom changes in appearance for each role. For me, this is a sign of a real actor, it is very important not only through internal qualities - by the acting, voice, accent, to embody the character, but also externally you must be different from yourself / other characters. I really love it when I can determine from one frame what kind of project or character an actor has. I hope that as Tom gets older, he will have more characters and opportunities to change his appearance, as I already said - about a beard, or perhaps a new hair color
