When we were recently planning a dinner party, Todd decided to make his chimichurri sauce he developed back in his chef days. We all know how versatile it is and ours was tweaked to perfection and turned out very well… full of flavor & delicious grassy flavors of all the herbs we used to make it! A true taste of spring! 🧄🌿🌱🥩🥦🧅🥔🫓 🥩We used it first on flank steak as a finishing marinade while we let it rest before cutting. 🥦Then we used it as a flavorful finishing seasoning for roasting our broccoli, onions & potatoes. 🍲Then we topped our veggie beef bowls with a dollop. Waste not, want not, reinvented leftover dish #2… 🫓I made us some steak quesadillas with crispy onions & my candied jalapeños. As a dipping sauce, I mixed some of the chimichurri into some sour cream and for some sweet crunch, I served it all with a side of pickled red cabbage! It really can make a great addition to any meal or side for a nice flavor punch. 💥 If you’ve never made it, we highly recommend it! Be bold! Cherry Bomb!!! 🍒🌸🍒🌸🍒🌸🍒 Cherry was always my go to fruit flavor as a kid… while others were all about strawberry and grape, I was digging all things cherry! Cherry Poptarts, Cherry Life Savers, Cherry Fruit Roll Ups, oh and fresh cherries gleaned from cherry picking excursions in Cloudcroft, NM! I’ve been wanting to make these candied cherries for awhile and Valentines seemed the best excuse to me, so I finally bit the pit and followed through! With undertones of orange, ginger & almond these cherries will add pizzazz to cocktails (Shirley Temple anyone? Another childhood fave!) coke or ice cream floats, cheese cake or dessert topper or… simply drizzle over ice cream! And just like little 6 year old George Washington… “I cannot tell a lie…” these candied cherries are a delight! I LOVE VALENTINES! 💗I’ve loved it since I was little and @mamava42 used to give us little heart shaped erasers and pencils with hearts and sparkly valentines with notes of love! 💌 Decorating little shoe boxes during elementary art class that would later be used as Valentine mailboxes on our desks on THE DAY! 💐 My grandpa, Pick, used to get each of us a heart shaped box of chocolates, and to this day I adore them and think of him fondly! 🍫 ❤️ I love all the V-day puns, and back when I was in my teens, writing for my high school newspaper (“Buzzzzin’ with Barnard” (little did I know the glorious foreshadowing 🐝)) I wrote about the true meaning of the day… FRIENDSHIP! ❣️Also, fun, foreshadowing fact, St. Valentine is the patron saint of beekeepers! 🐝🖤💛 It was simple, it was colorful, it was meaningful, it was sweet! ❤️ I love valentines!!! I said it and I’m not ashamed of it! I love the simplistic & punny! What a JAMTASTIC open house we had Saturday! Thanks to all who stopped by… it was a joy to see you, truly! Also, a huge thank you to Caroline, our customer who ordered these cute hostess gift baskets from us, and gave us a “reason” (like we needed one 😂) to have our first open house of 2023! 🌸💝 We wondered if people would show up, and boy did you! Todd came back from unlocking the front door at 10am and said, “There are 4 cars waiting for us to open!” 🎉 🚗 Todd @thebreadsandthebees continues to perfect his sourdough and his practically perfect palmiers are now the size of your hand (or slightly larger 😱) and their caramel coating is a sheer delight! 🥳 And I @kellebjammin went on a pear jam session which was quite the hit! Pickens are a bit slim at the Kelle B Kitchen, thanks to a stellar holiday season (thank you all so much!!!) My cupboards are bare! 😱 Fear not, my loyal jam fans, I’ve been Jammin’ up a storm making fave flavors like Strawberry Vanilla Bean, Sweet Wild Blueberry, Peach Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean & Old Fashioned Apple Butter to restock my bare shelves. Today, while we were working we tapped our toes and spoons to some good ole bluegrass today and we were definitely pickin’, grinnin’, jammin’, & bakin’! With all these warm spring like days, cooking out on the grill or flat top is a lovely option. Although spicy jams over cream cheese for a party appetizer or grazing boards is divine, ANY of my spicy jams are ideal for glazing meats or creating quick sauces for veggies or both! Like this beefy, veggie, rice bowl Todd (@thebreadsandthebees ) and I recently made. He cooked this flank steak on the flat top and when it was almost finished, he poured some jam over the top and let it concentrate and caramelize. All the residual jam was then worked in to the sauteed veggies. It's so easy, it should be illegal... thankfully, it's not, so branch out and baste your beef with a spicy jam, like The Peppah Jam, my take on jalapeno jelly. It's so good, but any of my spicy jams would work; Peach Jalapeno, Blackberry Jalapeno, Raspberry Jalapeno, Pineapple Cranberry Jalapeno... you see where I'm going with this... Let's pretend it's spring for a minute before the next dirt storm norther blows in and reminds us we are actually in the middle of winter! Have a sweet day and keep spreading love!
