Aye so chapter 2 is here guys and gals The art was done yet again by the beautiful work of @makyhoney But let’s not forget I’m the scriptwriter for the whole comic and the original creator of Endtale! This comic was only brought to you guys because of maky without her I wouldn’t be able to give you guys such a quality look of the story.

This is chapter 2 of the comic! With that said and done. Wraith’s tips on comics

Here’s a rough explanation on how I make comics like Guardian Angel and AU Graveyard for those who are just starting out. ^^ 

— First off! Make sure you are passionate about creating the story. 

***((Never create a story for notes, likes or whatever. Create your comic for you and not for anyone else. If people like it, cool! But don’t let that change how you create your comic))

— How to do it!

First - Draw out your cast of characters  -also write little notes about what each character might say or fun facts. -make sure to draw these characters a few times for fun to see how well the design works and make changes as needed

Second - Concept and story  -  There is the overall theme and then there are sub-plot blocks  (let’s take au graveyard as an example) Overall theme - Character vs. Self - (and later nature) Lucida coming to terms with who she really is and how this plays into her deciding whether or not she wants to work towards getting her AU back. Blocks (3 intentional sub-plots in au graveyard for the 3 “chapters”) Lucida vs. Creatures of Exo-Zone. - creatures that eat creations. Nightweaver vs. Lucida - fighting over what is left of Underheaven Lucida vs Reaper Sans - Rebirth (Lucida) vs Death (Reaper) **Tip - write these things down when you are planning your narrative. And try making mock up scenes of the characters interacting. I personally just write everything out in words, but if you want to sketch you can do that too.  Third - Scream into the void (aka make the comic) -how I make pages - step one write out what the characters say

- sketch the page layout ( I do a set of 4 on 1 page for every update of AUG.)

** Now if you want to do traditional then you’d just refine the sketches into a comic page. But I’m a digital artist so there’s more to do. * What I use - PaintTool Sai (for drawing) Photoshop or Medibang (text) First, I make boxes for the panels in Photoshop or Medibang. This helps with line art. Do this on a separate layer. (I use white boxes for AUG so I add a low opacity black background)

Next : secondary digital sketch (I use my traditional pencil sketches as a ref) Do this under the box layer but ahead of your background layer

Duplicate your box layer and use it as a line-art layer (helps with coloring later) Keep the line-art within their respective panels. And leave the text boxes alone.

Now I go back to the text boxes. I also decided during coloring I wanted to change one of the boxes to help with the flow of the page.  *tip - for text boxes you can choose to change the opacity of the boxes background so you can have some of the image behind it show through with the text. This often helps with dramatic pages like this one.

And that’s one page down ……100 more to go!

—— Other Stuff — - You will learn new tips and tricks as you continue making comics - There are many ways to make comics from one panel updates in sets like Guardian Angel to full pages like AUG. It’s up to you what you do! - Don’t set unrealistic goals and remember, it’s rare for your very first comic to be a masterpiece. So don’t try to make a graphic novel unless you are 100% invested in making one. - Don’t get discouraged! — If it helps, take a look at my very first “comic” I did back when I was a fan of homestuck.

And if you need help with technical stuff! *poses* I may not be the average comic artist nor an arts instructor, but I did teach martial arts for a few years and am a certifiably insane art nerd of tumblr!  Lucida: Wraith…that’s not helpful. Wraith: IT’S CALLED BEING WELL-ROUNDED!
