headcannon / short and sweet fic: after all the shit theyve been through together sophie and keefe have become the “couple that doesnt label themselves as a couple and denies it whenever anyone says literally anything about it” trope and never pass up the chance for a quick goodbye hug/kiss (especially on missions) and are generally super affirming and affectionate with each other and are always the last to sleep at a sleepover because they take the extra time to cuddle when they think everyone is asleep (little do they know tam has never slept a day in his life and linh drags the stories out of him, who eventually spreads it to marella during tickle wars and from there... yeah you get the point, yet sophie and keefe have no idea that everyone knows. anyway-).

one day some random foxfire prodigy passes them on their way to the cafeteria having their hourly banter session and is like “hey i just wanted to say you guys are really cute together!” and keefe, silently, internally loses his shit as sophie practically implodes and frantically tries to deny it but loses the ability to utter any comprehensible noise when keefe throws his arm around her shoulders, plants a gentle kiss on her head, thanks the prodigy, and walks off, all while managing his composure until theyre out of earshot and sophie jumps out of his hold and is like “KEEFE WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING” and hes just fucking doubled over laughing at her spike of emotions, flusteredness, and slight hesitation to deny it.

they quickly find out that they werent alone and one of their friends (probably biana) was lurking at the end of the hallway wondering why the hell they were so late to lunch and she pops out with a shit-eating smirk like “i am SO NOT LETTING THIS GO” and runs away, presumably to tell their friends, leaving sophie slumped against the wall with her head in her palms trying to hide her laugh.

“why are you like this,” she manages to mutter while theyre both still giggling. “come on you dork,” she says, hooking her arm through his and leading them to the cafeteria. now its keefe’s turn to flush because whAT SHE DOESNT USUALLY INITIATE STUFF AND ESPECIALLY NOT IN PUBLIC WHAT ARE WE DOING- oh and ro has an absolute fucking field day when she finds out what happened and then nearly sets the house on fire—and then throws herself into it—when she finds out keefe STILL DIDN’T CONFESS.
