Noemie had slept in today, so she woke up with that sleepy-groggy feeling you get when you over-sleep.

But she was thrilled to see her new friends on her Holo Caster!  She wished she could greet each one of you individually, but she wasn't awake yet!

"A Grotle?" Noemie grinned. She took a step closer, "Wow! Nice to meet you Viv! You're so pretty!" 

She looked back at Lucas, "Can I pet her? Is she friendly?"

❅—"Hmm?” he was distracted for a moment when Noemie switched subjects. “Oh yeah, Viv was my starter Pokémon! And of course!” Lucas said, remembering what the question was. He unlatched one of the Pokéballs, sending Viv out. “Viv here is a Grotle — she’s a nice big turtle, and very loyal, too.” he patted Viv’s head while saying that.

Noemie stood up and nodded as she saw her Uncle leave the Cafe, "Thank you very much!" 

She was disappointed as Pikachu ran from her to rejoin her Trainer, but she knew this was what a 'trainer/pokemon bond' was, and it made her even more eager to create one herself!

She watched him summon Articuno from it's Pokeball, and gasped in awe as he took off on it. 

"Bye-bye!" She called out to him, as he took off into the sky. She ran a few steps after him, and waved.

As he disappeared from view, she smiled and folded her hands behind her back. Wow... Pokemon were so cool! She couldn't wait to start her journey, and have wonderful bonds, just like Uncle Azure had with his Pokemon!

Azure closed his eyes for a moment to keep his composure. Julien certainly had a way to get under his skin pretty quickly. 

He pushed his chair back and stood up, “No, I didn’t do anything. We were just talking.” He turned and looked back at Eris, “I should get going now anyway. Hannah’s probably starting to get worried by now… just, think about what we talked about, and try not to worry. I’ll call you tomorrow after I talk to the kids.” 

He turned and shot Julien an icy glare, before turning and leaving the Cafe.

Pikachu, who was still playing with Noemie in front of the Cafe, saw him leave and looked up. She instantly ran over towards him, and jumped up onto his shoulders. 

Azure stopped walking, and turned to look at Noemie, “Hey kiddo. I hear you’ll be visiting the twins in Hoenn… good luck over there, okay?”  

He reached for a Pokeball at his belt, and threw it into the air, releasing Articuno, and leaping onto it’s back in one swift movement, before taking off into the sky.

"Y-yeah... thank you Azure. I knew you were the right person to talk too." Eris cried, trying desperately to wipe her tears, "Thank you... I feel much bet- "

Before she could finish her sentence, a shout came from behind the counter.

"Eris? Eris what's wrong? What's going on here?" Julien's voice rose through the silence.

Eris jumped and turned to look at her husband, red eyed, and with tears staining her face, "J-Julien!" She tried to wipe her face on her sleeve again, "N-nothing. It's nothing." "Taurus it's nothing." Julien snapped. He hurried across the Cafe towards his wife, and helped her wipe her eyes with a napkin, "Did he do anything to you?" 

"No. Not at all." Eris shook her head, "He was a big help." "Help? Help with what?" Julien frowned. He turned around and looked at Azure, "If you did anything to my wife, I'd make sure you never come here again!"

Azure felt the corner of his lip twitch, but he fought against it, and reached across the table, and gently put his hand on Eris’s wrist, “It wont.” 

Yeah… he was one too talk. That was something he still had nightmares about. He constantly thought about what would have happened if they showed up even a few minutes later…

"Zaffre’s a lot stronger then he was back then." Azure promised, "And he’s got Auburn with him now, and his new friend, Pasha. And, Delia’s a lot more careful then he is. Both of my kids have grown up a lot, and they know what they’re doing. Let her go with them. I’ll call both of them and talk to them myself about it if it helps?" 

Did Eris know Zaffre and Delia weren’t traveling together? He knew Hannah didn’t know about it yet, and that was some news he didn’t want to break to his wife. Maybe he could find a way to convince the kids to travel together after all, if not for their Mother’s sake, then for Eris and Noemie.

Eris felt her eyes watering, "You're right... damn. I feel like such a terrible person but... I'm just so worried. I don't want Noemie to leave." The tears spilled over her bottom eyelids, and she hiccuped, before raising one arm to wipe her eyes on her sleeve, "I just keep thinking that Noemie will disappear too... that I'll lose both my children... I just wish she'd travel here in Kalos first, so I can watch her on her first journey..." 

She paused and hiccuped again, her eyes watering so badly the world blurred behind her tears, "I... I just think about what happened to Zaffre... and I get so scared. What if something happens like that in Hoenn? You and I barely showed up in time to save him... if that happens to Noemie..."

He paused for a moment and sighed, “I mean, I still don’t like the idea of Delia being alone in a foreign region, but she knows I support her, and she knows she can contact me if she ever needs help. Since this is Noemie’s first journey, she’ll need that support even more. She needs to know you trust her, and you’ll be there for her if she ever needs it, right?”

"I'm really excited to have my very own Pokemon friend!" Noemie cheered, "And we're going to train really hard together!" Her hands clenched into excited fists, "I'm going to join my cousin's in Hoenn soon, and then I'll be able to compete in Contests and everything!"

She cut herself off, and blushed a little, "I-I'm sorry. I'm just really excited! Was Viv your Starter Pokemon? Can I meet it?"

❅—"Finally getting to own a Pokémon is a really good feeling to have. It’s like a feeling of protection and friendship, all wrapped up in a small capsule.” Lucas patted his backpack strap, where a few of his Pokéballs were kept. “Well, that’s at least how I felt when I got my first Pokémon, Viv…”

Eris looked down at her hands, still folded on the table, as if ashamed, "Are you certain? I mean... she claims she can understand Pokemon... that she can talk to them like we talk to each other..." Her eyes narrowed, "The doctor did say she'd grow out of it... he said that it was just her imagination, like how some kids make up imaginary friends." Her hands clenched together harder, "I thought... if we kept her away from Pokemon, she'd eventually grow out of it..." 

She felt her eyes watering slightly, "I know... it's unfair of me to try and change my daughter but... its caused trouble with kids at school, and I know she's being teased about it... I'm afraid of what will happen if she's surrounded by Pokemon all the time." 

"Pipi pi-i chu!" Pikachu replied, as she chased after Noemie towards the front door.

Azure smiled as he watched the two of them run, before turning back towards his sister, as the two of them were left alone again, “It’s fine… but I see what you mean. She’s still doing that, huh? I thought the doctor said it’s something she’d grow out of?”

He was already far used to Julien’s attitude towards them. The two of them had gotten in a couple of arguments in the past. Eris had told him it’s because Julien didn’t ‘trust him’. She said that he got a ‘weird sixth sense feeling’ around him, like Azure wasn’t human or something, and the thought made him smile… well, Julien wasn’t exactly right, but he wasn’t far off either.

He shook his head and turned back to Eris, “I don’t see why that behavior would make her any less qualified to be a trainer than anyone else.”

"A grass snake?" Noemie repeated, excitedly, but her question was answered when Ness released her Servine. 

Noemie almost hopped up and down on the spot, but instead she squatted down in front of him, "Awe! He's adorable! It's nice to meet you, Caesar!"

She looked back up at Ness, "Can I feed him a pecha berry? Can I pet him?"

"Servine’s a li’l grass snake. They evolve from Snivy, and then turn into Serperior." Ness was already fishing for her Servine’s ball, anticipating the request, nodding her affirmations. In but a moment, the Servine was between them and nosing eagerly at his trainer’s shirt. 

"His name’s Caesar Salad, but’choo can call ‘im Caesar. He really likes Pecha berries."

"I'm going to train really hard at them!" Noemie quickly replied, shaking his hand gently, "They look really pretty and fun!" 

She tilted her head curiously, "What's owning a Pokemon like? I don't have any Pokemon yet!"

❅—"I am a Trainer, actually! Nice to meet you, Noemie.” he gentlely shook her hand, still smiling a bit. “And you said you’re a Coordinator in training? Sounds cool! I’ve tried my skills in a Contest before, it didn’t exactly end well.”

"Awe! Thank you Pikachu!" She giggled, "I hope you're right! But you know, you're cuter!" She reached down and hugged the fluffy Pikachu, before her Uncle's voice startled her. 

She looked up as if she was just realizing Uncle Azure was there. She blushed slightly, and slowly pulled Pikachu off the chair, and into her arms, "Good evening, Uncle Azure." 

Eris frowned slightly, but before she could say anything, the door of the cafe opened again, and she watched her husband walk in, carrying several bags of groceries, including a tent, a sleeping bag, and other various things a Trainer might need to start their adventure.

"Welcome home, dear." She said, "Did you find everything?" 

He walked up to her, and leaned down towards her, and the two exchanged a quick kiss. "I got everything on the list. There's still time if I forgot anything." He said, "I'll go put these things upstairs for now." 

His eyes turned to Azure, and darkened slightly. "Oh? I didn't know we were having company. Hello Azure."

Eris quickly decided to intervene. She knew her husband and her brother didn't really get along very well, "Anyway! Noemie, why don't you take Pikachu outside to play?" 

Noemie turned from her uncle, to look up at her Mom, "Okay!" She hugged Pikachu tighter, before placing the electric mouse on the ground, "Let's go play, Pikachu!"

Without hesitating, she turned and ran towards the front door of the cafe.

Eris sighed as her daughter ran outside, and her husband headed upstairs, "Sorry about that..."

“Piikaa!" Pikachu cheered as she saw Noemie. She hopped up and down on the seat, and pushed her nose into Noemie’s pets, "Kaa’chu pi-ka-chu ka kaa chu Pi-kaaa-chu!"

Azure smiled at the two of them, and took a sip of his coffee, “Hello Noemie.”

Noemie smiled, and tilted her head to the side slightly, "My name's Noemie! I'm a Pokemon Coordinator in Training! Are you a trainer, Lucas?"

❅—Lucas smiled. “And same to you!” he replied.

“The name’s Lucas, and you are?”

"What's a Servine?" Noemie asked eagerly, if not, a little shyly, "I bet he's cute! Can I meet him? Oh! Can I give a berry to him?"

"What I’m doin’?" Ness’s eyebrows rose, eyes dropping to the bunch of berries in the sag of her shirt. "I was pickin’ berries fer my Servine," she turned to face her now, rustling the fruit a bit. "You can have some if you want; He can’t eat all these by himself. He’s juss’ a little thing."

"Oh no... I'm not worried about Noemie traveling with your kids, in fact, I'd feel better if she did... it's just... Hoenn's so far away and... you know Noemie isn't like most kids... why we don't keep Pokemon in the Cafe..."

As if on cue, the front door of the Cafe opened up, and an eager-looking girl came running in, her long black hair flying behind her as she ran across the Cafe, towards them. 

"Mommy! Mommy guess what we got!" She cut herself off when her eyes fell to Pikachu, "Pikachu!" She laughed and turned her direction towards the little electric mouse, "Hi Pikachu! How're you?" She giggled and patted Pikachu on the head.

Azure relaxed slightly. Good. It made him feel better that there was no emergency. He sighed and took a sip of his coffee, before looking up at Eris again, “I don’t see a problem with it. I mean, both Zaffre and Delia have good heads on their shoulders. They’ll keep an eye on her.”

He could see where she was nervous. After all, her other daughter, Sophie, disappeared on her journey, and no one’s seen, or heard from her since. For as much as they knew, she was dead. Zaffre assured them she left the region on a new journey, but she never told them that. He tried to pressure Zaffre for more information, but his son didn’t seem to know any more then that. 

"Noemie’s a lot more timid then Sophie is." Azure replied, "You shouldn’t worry about her going off on he own like Sophie did, and besides, if she’s with the twins, I’m certain she’ll be fine."

Eris quickly shook her head, "Oh no! Sorry Azure, I didn't mean to worry you, but it's nothing like that..." She folded her hands on the table, "It's just... Noemie want's to join your kids in Hoenn. She says Kalos doesn't have the tournaments she wants to train for..."

"About the kids?" Azure asked, but Eris shook her head and told him to come inside. He sighed and followed after her. Suddenly he was worried. What was going on with the kids now?

It reminded him that he hadn’t heard from the kids since they left for Hoenn… he didn’t want to be overbearing by calling them all the time, but it’s been quite awhile since the kids left. Did Eris know something he didn’t?

He sat down in an empty chair next to Pikachu, and watched Eris gather everything. He nodded in thanks as she placed the cup of coffee in front of him, “It’s no big deal. Really. It’s not like you to be so serious… so what’s wrong? Did something happen with the kids?”

Noemie folded her hands behind her back, and rocked back and forth on her heels, "I was just wondering what you're doing?" She pointed at the berries, "Those look really yummy!"

Ness nearly dropped her shirt full of berries, this kid was precious. Like a little egg in a dress, or something like that. “Heeey, g’mornin’, sprout!” Her smile was audible in her tone. “Whatcha up to?”

Eris hugged Pikachu a little tighter, "Yes. Everything is fine with me. But I... I wanted to talk to you about Noemie and the twins." She shook her head, "Come on. Let's talk inside. I've got fresh coffee ready for you." 

She turned around and walked into the Cafe. She gently placed Pikachu down on a chair at a table closest to the cash register, before she slipped behind the till to pour two cups of coffee, and a glass of berry juice for Pikachu, and grabbed a platter of leftover pastries. 

After grabbing everything, she balanced it on a tray, and walked back to the table, "Here you go." She placed everything on the table, and discarded the tray quickly, before sitting down, "Thank you for coming so quickly Azure. It means a lot..."

Azure smiled and rested a hand on his side, as he watched Pikachu snuggle up to Eris. As she started walking towards him, he followed suit, walking towards her to close the gap, and accepted his sister’s hug. 

"You didn’t interrupt anything. It’s fine." He said, before pulling away from the hug, "What’s the matter though? Is everything alright?"
