both candela obscura and burrow's end have a character named auntie beatrix. is this a coincidence? did marisha and aabria talk? is this a reference to a secret third thing that i'm not aware of? i'm going to be thinking about this all night.

Soulmate world except two people without marks decide they're going to fake being each other's soulmates with fake tattoos and what starts out as wacky shenanigans to reassure their families they can settle down and be happy ends up with them delving too far into the lore to make sure they get the act right and slowly piecing together, to their horror, that the whole soulmate system is a scheme of their people's gods to make the population boom before an upcoming war.

Okay but Charlotte was extremely generous to her children in regards to their marriages up until the line of succession was in question. She let all the boys secretly date whomever they chose and, most significantly, she didn’t sell off any of her daughters as alliance chattel (the way that she was). She was extremely hands off on their love lives until she couldn’t be and the cosseted royal children don’t realize that or the fact that very few children in English society grew up with present parents

When I was first getting into the series I remember there being a little bit of a controversy about Zoro stealing Brook's fight. I don't know if there are still people out there who don't like it, but I've come around on the idea. Brook's main job isn't swordsman, it's a fun little bonus that helps round him out, and Straw Hats helping Straw Hats has always been an important part of the series.
And this ends up being a really nice, understated part of Brook's character. He is a man without pride, all he cares about is getting back to Laboon and fulfilling the promise of his dead crew. How that happens doesn't matter. It's an interesting theme to dissect throughout the series, because there are times in One Piece where pride is extremely important, and others such as this when it's best to set it aside. The difference between the two is figuring out if a person's pride is in service to their dream or convictions. Zoro thinks wounds on the back is shameful because it ties into his identity as a swordsman, but Brook running away from his own zombie is what's necessary to reunite with Laboon. It's comparing apples to oranges, and I like that Oda includes that kind of nuance in the series.

Stumbled upon a Reddit thread (don't ask) where people still whine and bitch about having to pick the "Nah, fucked that up too," dialogue option at the Oil fields to have a good relationship with Johnny. Saying that it needs to get fixed, calling it 'antagonizing' him, further proving that they don't understand him or his friendship with V at all. Sorry, but what's still not clicking? Holding him accountable for what he did and being honest with him is the only way you can have a good relationship with him for a reason.
It's not scolding him, it's not being mean, it's just V telling him 'No, what you did hurt me and I can't trust you anymore.' And he needs that, he needs someone who won't let him get away with the shit he does, he needs someone who is honest with him and won't just agree with everything he says so that he can grow and change. He knows he royally messed up, but he needs to hear that from V too. How do you expect V to have a true friendship with him if they just let him walk all over them and act like he did nothing wrong and everything's fine?
And it makes sense that the devs chose this as the secret ending unlocker because you can't have them storm Arasaka Tower together in full synergy when some parts of them are still at odds with each other.
Listen, I love Johnny as much as we all do here, but he needs to be called out when he messes up, and that's that.

End Credits [Carmen/Rafael]
@aquamanandfriends
Carmen dipped her head, hot tears streaking down her cheeks as she stared down at Rafael, his head resting in her lap. A tear splattered against his jaw as their lips met, the kiss soft and fleeting, yet still tender; full of grief and regret. The last three nights performing this scene, she'd cried--the reality of Rafael too real, too raw after the last few months--but hadn't kissed him. Their drama teacher gave her the choice to do it or not, based on her comfort, and she'd saved it for closing night.
The heavy velvet stage curtains creaked closed, signaling the end of the play. Sucking in a breath, Carmen brushed her cheeks clear of tears and let Raf stand, the rest of the cast and crew approaching to line up for their bow.
She wondered if Rafael's parents had decided to use the tickets she'd left in their mailbox. Unbeknownst to her, Carmen's own family was in the crowd. Camila dragged them--practically kicking and screaming--not that Carmen wanted them there. Carm stood and brushed her skirt off, then offered Raf her hand so they could stand at the center of the line, her lips still buzzing from that soft kiss.

It's been around two days since Jamie, Reid and Emory have arrived at the football stadium in search of sanctuary, having only found a small group of survivors that have wanted nothing to do with them for some reason related to Reid, who has been pretty unresponsive for the past few days, which Jamie might find odd due to the fact that it was really only their arm injured. They've been staying in one of the large tents left behind by the military, but late at night Jamie hears the tent flap open as moonlight shines in on his face. This is so long I'm sorry much love.
Jamie cracks his eyes open and sits up a bit, looking around in slight confusion as he reaches for his prosthetic.

so many griddlehark doomers on this website. smh my head…….theyre doomed by fate AND the narrative to be intrinsically intertwined no matter what. i cannot conceive of a finished locked tomb series where theyre not lying dead in each other’s arms or existing together in some fugue state of unbeing. not even death can separate the lesbians that scratch each other bloody and then cry in each other’s arms. they have been fated to orbit one another literally since their conception. one flesh one end, bitch.

god i want. an au where it dosn't work. where it's just arr g'raha who's woken up, and he doesn't have all these memories and all these people keep looking at him like they're mourning someone. the world has changed and time has changed and all the people he knows have changed, but he hasn't changed, he was just sleeping, just sleeping, and the world nearly ended several times and apparently he helped prevent yet another end but he has no memory of this. they want him to join the scions. he does not know these people. (he barely knows the warrior of light, now, but did he ever truly know them in the first place?) his little sister is alive and well. she looks at him like a ghost. she's changed, and she's older than him now. he acts bratty and loud and brash to cover up the fact that he does not know anything it seems, and he is tired but he was sleeping for so long, so how could he be tired?
he doesn't know these people. they seem to know him. he wonders if he'd killed someone, when it was him and not that exarch who woke up. he wonders if it should have been him who was "killed" in that way, if it is him that lives and not that man who had known and become friends with all these figures from legend. he wonders if he'll always be fated to be a historian one step back from everything, because he simply cannot be a hero.
