In order to get the sound files from the game I needed to download a programme that would unpack the Unreal-engine4 data into useable audiofiles. I would then take thoose files and convert them into mp3s to use in toon boom useing this website to cut, splice and merge audio clips. https://123apps.com/

I also went and found some fire fight scenes from my favourite movies to sample some audio for the scene in the DRG animatic when they exit the Droppod.

On the HBU colab project with china, both classes were sorted into teams, each with a theme. My teams theme was "Dark", so there was a lot of leeway to play with ideas. I Liked the idea of an eldritch entity, plus it looked easier to animate, though I would need to edit the amount of eyes they had to draw.

The Character design was done by the student I was working with on this project. The class got sorted into teams of 5 students from UCLAN, and 5 students from HBU in china. we each came up with a design and paired up with one another, swapping our characters and animating them.

I made a decision on the final character and made a character sheet with height and width dimensions to give to my partner. I lowered the amount of eyes they had to draw, and the shape of the body was simple. I was excited to see what they drawn when they had finished.

This is my finished segment of the first part in the final animation, It will be clipped together with the other students segments to make a full movie. The voice actor did a very good job and finding the sound effects I looked to https://freesound.org/

due to poor time management the final segment of the loop was submitted unfinished. The ambitious vortex segment took a bit longer to do while I was behind on another project. The Bauhaus art style I researched was implemented into this animation, as the minimalistic and abstract nature of the void filled with doors seemed fitting.

This animatic is of the first segment of the animation, where the loop begins. The protagonist bursts through the door, unbeknownst to us as to why, he strolls through the store to bump into a bag of knobs, to which he triggers a portal to open, and then from there he journeys through multiple doors to find his way back.

This segment was scraped as it left too many questions or complications with fluidity in the final animation. it shows the protagonist falling from the back of the truck to see himself entering the antique store. It rose questions like this was in past or a duplicate universe.

This animatic is the last segment of the animation, where the loop comes full circle. The protagonist enters a realm where different dimensions coexist and float around in a void. The bag is empty and the protagonist discards it, resulting in a total collapse in the multiverse. As the vortex sucks in everything, one door stands out from the rest, a double door, the same door that leads to the antique store. On Escaping the doomed realm, The journey begins again.

These are some powerpoint slides of compiled refferances to help with choosing a design theme for the protagonist. seeing I was doing two animations, I would need two styles. Ive always loved the hectic glyphs that graffiti makes, but I also like the sharp and organised chaos that is Bauhaus, simple shapes, contorted and construed. In a way, both styles have a similar aura of nature.

In the top image, on the right is the final design of the protagonist "Chuck". and on the left is a rendition of chuck in my art style. Through the film, Chuck will change in art style to that of the animator. In the image below, are renditions of the character done in a secondary art style. I was tasked with doing Both the End and the Beginning of the animation, so that it loops , and the protagonist journeys through the doors indefinitely.

This concept pieces are for a group project me and the rest of my class were apart of, were we each took turns animating our own segment of the film. These concepts along with others from the class were used to decide a final design to use as the protagonist.

This is the animatic of my 2min short film. The vocals are all done by me and the sound effects were pulled from the game files useing a unreal engine unpacker. Of course all rights go to GhostShip games. I heard that GSG were hosting a competition for a new trailer, and that fans could make their own to submit.
however, due to the sheer scale of the project and a secondary assignment that was thrown into the mix, the film was never fully completed. backgrounds were left out and alot of assets weren't animated.

Here’s some concept work for my 2min Shortfilm, Based on my favorite Videogame Deep Rock Galactic by GhostShip games. I snapped photos in-game of the models I wanted to use in the animation and made cartoon renditions of them.

Some concept pieces of Krawl on different sets of varying sizes. I also did some facial tests to see how the mandibles on Theos face would work.
