This is a genuine question, so please don't take this the wrong way. Why do some people take offense to the term "girl" when referring to someone? Me and my friends call each other that all the time, and it's not meant to be offensive.

In my case, it’s because I’m a nonbinary person. It means that I feel uncomfortable when I’m associated with any of the genders or referred to as any of the genders
