The Arcane book list has 26 books so far. Mostly sci-fi/steampunk inspired. Might make a book list for each of the characters as well.

What are some books you'd recommend someone to read to sort of get the feel and themes of Arcane? Do you have any books that you think exemplify the thesis of the show or specific characters?

And then eventually, Viktor, Singed's chosen protege, will take his place. Carry on his legacy (Love and legacy are the sacrifice we make for progress). Built on Shimmer but sustained by old magic made new. The herald revered, in search of eternity and willing to lose pieces of himself to achieve it. So afraid of death that he deals in life and life alone. So afraid of death he seeks complete evolution, and loses his humanity in pursuit of strength.

It's so interesting how singed is single-handedly keeping alot of the Undercity alive with shimmer, but also killing them as well. Like, yes they have the religion of the Eye complete with its shrines and witches, and Silco is its figurehead (priest of a sort), but Singed is the old, dark god behind it. Both death and life in his hands.

seeing the fandom pit Mel and Viktor against each other is honestly ridiculous. why? because hear me out, Viktor and Mel are two sides of the same coin. their motives are exactly the same: they want to help people, to save lives. they are both driven individuals who serve as the wind in Jayce's sails. they see his potential and they push him to do more, because individually, they hold themselves to high standards and accept nothing less than perfection. in addition, Viktor and Mel's pasts are not so different.

up until now, Viktor and Mel have been a mirror of each other in some way. while Viktor will eventually become a foil to Jayce, he will also be a foil to Mel because their motives are so closely aligned. each of them are completely dedicated to and long to protect their homes, and now that their homes are threatened, it will open up an arc for both of them in season 2. not as allies, but as foes. season two will show how far they will go.

It is no wonder that Mel and Viktor seem to dislike each other. And it is not just because both of them fell for the same men.

No, it is because they are similar to each other and you don't always like that you see in the mirror.

Both are foreigners in Piltover, with ambition higher than the sky. Both are willing to bend the rules to their own benefits. Some their greatest fear is to become like their own mother / mentor figure. Both, in the end, want to do the right thing.

Hell, even their interest in Jayce shows again how similar they are.

I would love to see them more interact because I think their dynamic would be incredible interesting and it is a shame it is not further explored in the serie.
