Lonely is a funny word. "Without companions; solitary.", "sad because one has no friends or company."

Lonely is a funny adjective, I think. Sometimes people use it to describe old people, or something that's just by itself.

I'm used to being lonely.

I've always been lonely.

I'm so used to it, in fact, that when I find someone who helps me feel seen, I grab onto them and refuse to let go. I refuse to let go because I don't want to go back to just being lonely again. "I can't go back to that, please don't make me go back." I plead. Sooner or later, they slip away with claw marks on their skin.

And I am lonely once more.
