My daily bmx session is crystalized for some months now. More than a routine, it became a constructed script of movements I have to execute from A to Z. Maybe it's a ritual, maybe a prayer.

As a psychomagic process to get out of the loop, I decided to do it one last time and film it.

5e55ion is originally a 53mn long-take, short-edited to 15mn to present its core. 5e55ion refers to "session" and the magic number 555.

logline: A strangely resolute woman and her eager doppelganger bust open a disturbing portal into a psychedelic world of scintillation.

short synopsis: A wobbly, strangely resolute woman brings home treats to share, both familiar and bizarre. Upstairs, an alternate version of herself eagerly awaits. Together they bust open the treats... and in so doing- bust open a creepy and luscious portal into a psychedelic world of scintillation. 

long synopsis: A wobbly, strangely resolute woman brings home a shopping bag filled with treats to share, both familiar things like food, and bizarre things like pharmaceutical sex toys. Pounding dissonant music and an unsettling, molasses-like pacing offer insight into her state of mind, she's giddy and shaky with arousal. There's a shine, and a undulation, and an engorging vibe that establishes a world that is a reflection of her hunger. Upstairs a further reflection of her, an alternate version of herself , or possibly a doppelganger, eagerly awaits. The longing they both feel seems to turn reality in on itself intermittently, it seem to open a portal into a grinding, psychelic looking glass. Fruit, and meat from her shopping trip, along with their own flesh are twisted and smeared in a surreal, elated consummation. "Squash" refers to the sensation of involuntarily pressing into another, or your self- of losing yourself in your partner's body, or in your own. That feeling when one is hyper-aroused, when there's a craving for physical intimacy to the point that one wants to become a unit, consuming and being consumed.

In the worldwide BMX flatland scene it is common to see riders with similar styles and tricks. Every so often a trendy style will come along and result in copycat riders. Ultimately, being original or having your own style becomes one of the top priorities of most riders.

In the American scene the vast distances between riders creates a vast difference in riding styles. Being original is a goal and badge of honor for these riders. It can be an easy trap to fall for, to ride like someone else you admire. But be original. Be yourself. Don’t be a copycat. And, WATCH OUT FOR ROBOTS.
