how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)
there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you canāt find any post on your own blog, itās impossible, bluhrblub~
I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if youāre on desktop/browser and you know what youāre doing:
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissantsĀ or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, itās just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest firstĀ
url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isnāt as perfect at finding everything, but itās generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned itĀ ālook at my croissantā) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it wonāt necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find itās still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order
url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case youāre taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memesĀ
url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if youāre looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc
url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if youāre looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quicklyĀ
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I donāt know why you have audio posts tagged croissant)Ā
the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog!Ā
caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (orĀ ācustom themeā) enabled. aĀ ācustom themeā is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. Iāve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks.Ā
if the person doesnāt have aĀ ācustom themeā enabled, youāre beholden to the search bar. still, Iāve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else
if youāre on mobile, Iām sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if youāre able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, youāll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and itāll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if thereās no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)Ā

Unknown Inuit artist
Igloo Scene, c.1950
~
One of the most frustrating things about researching Inuit art was that in the beginning, people did not think of these sculptures as fine art, but crafts so nobody bothered to write any artist names down. Sometimes artists inscribed works with their disc numbers (numbers assigned to individual Inuit by the Canadian government in lieu of their names becauseĀ white people found themĀ too difficult to pronounce/write down). The database of these numbers are now classified because the government is embarrassed of how dehumanizing this was. This leaves it so that there is no way for scholars like me to find out who created beautiful sculptures like the one above.

lol. With Biden saying the word "intifada" is antisemitic, and this moron claiming the keffiyeh is Hamas attire, it seems all zionists can do is just lie and hope their audience is too stupid or uninformed to know any better.

The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Aminiās murder by the regime in his songs.
Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, āIranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our āsay their names to save their livesā campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?ā

I live in Israel. Iām identified as a gay Jewish. All my life Iāve known is Israel. I cannot ignore the facts or the history of what happened with Palestine and its people. I keep wondering what happens when Palestine is free? How will everybody live together in here? That people will return to their original homes before it all went to hell? Can Israelis like me can still be a part of it or not really? Will we be deported? Will Jews retaliate and more death and destruction commense? I dunno, thereās so many thoughts Iām scared to even consider will happen. Do you think itās possible to change years of bigotry and violence? That the public might be able to open up to it and let the Palestinians have their land back? That we can all live together? Because I want peace. I want a better world for everybody. Is it naive to believe that? Or is it stupid to see the world through rosy pink glasses? Sorry you donāt have to respond to this idiot question. Just - fuck me. I canāt take it anymore :(
These questions youāre asking are important and everyone should be asking themselves the same questions.
But first off, we can never condition our pursuit of justice on an easy or smooth transition - justice must be prioritised and must come first.
I also want to tell you that on top of how important these questions are, these questions are the same ones that the Algerian liberation movement asked themselves about what to do with the French settlers upon liberation. It may surprise you, but they initially wanted the French to remain and live as equals. So, much like you suspect Israelis to be angry and refuse to live side by side with Palestinians, the French in fact did exactly that and refused to live peacefully and as equals to the Algerians, and went on to reignite hostilities which resulted in their eventual exodus.Ā
This hate that you reference, though, cannot be viewed as equivalent coming from the Palestinian and Israeli side. It is very important to understand that while Palestinians are reacting to decades of Israeli violence, Israeli hatred stems from deliberate dehumanisation of Palestinians.Ā
As Paulo Freire put it, the oppressor, through the dehumanisation of the oppressed, dehumanises themselves. So, the question should be: are Israelis capable of redefining themselves and gaining their humanity again? That would be the determining factor of whether Israelis would be willing to live alongside Palestinians after liberation.

I was, indeed, a weird kid.
Neil my dude, after showing my mother season one of Good Omens and my dad seeing a bit of it I mentioned you also wrote Coraline and either my mom or dad (don't remember which one said it) said you must have been a weird kid.
Could you please confirm or deny whether or not you were a Weird Kidā¢?
I was a weird kid.

They bombed a hospital. No one intervened. So they bombed the rest.
They killed civilians and hostages waving white flags. No one intervened. So they did it on live TV.
They murdered starving people at an aid convoy. No one intervened. So they've attacked at least 3 more.
Israel is currently attacking the Al Shifa hospital in northern Gaza (March 18) with tanks and heavy gunfire, resulting in an increasing number of casualties and abductions including journalists who were reportedly severely beaten and taken to an unknown location.
Israel is literally relishing in its impunity. All we have been hearing from those in power is "concerns" and pathetic words of condemnation while Israel continues to boast about its atrocities, six months on.

When I made this post just ten days ago, it was about mass graves discovered at Al Shifa hospital and now we have learned that the same had happened at Nasser hospital in Gaza. The same genocidal pattern: a hospital is put under siege, patients and medical staff are abducted, tortured and buried in mass graves.
But to build on the last point I wanted to bring attention to in the previous post, it is very crucial to also keep in mind is that the Palestinian Civil Defence have reported that Israel had deliberately concealed the identities of those it killed and buried in these mass graves. Close to 400 bodies have been buried in these mass graves, 58% of the recovered bodies have not been identified.
In a press conference, a spokesperson of the civil defence in Gaza said that Israel had intentionally disfigured the bodies postmortem in order to remove any identifying markers such as birthmarks. He also mentioned that they suspect that the bodies have been placed in body bags that expedited the decomposition process, destroying any possibility of them being identified.
One of the main and only ways families have been able to identify the bodies of their loved ones is through the clothes they remember them wearing the last time they saw them. I saw a video of a mother identifying her son by his striped jacket. You can see the grief mixed with relief that she will be able to give her son proper burial.
Remember when months ago I said that to be identified and buried in Gaza has become a luxury? This is very much still the case.
